Guava Guava Guava Hey! Over The dill With The Strawbs Of A Thousand Men - 10/10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

(just seen joggler site thread - take it you are a road tester, boco)

Boco · 29/05/2009 22:29

Yes, am tester, or will be if I can find a way of plugging it in. ATM it is taunting me, sitting there with the wrong date and time and no way to make it work. Hmph.

pointydog · 29/05/2009 22:31

Keep a tally of the number of arguments it causes, boco

Boco · 29/05/2009 22:37

So far 2 arguments. One because he wouldn't explain the whole modem thing. And then another because he went to pick up my brother from the station and when they got home, my brother gave me a hug and said 'so, what's all this about you crying over some boggler?' I didn't CRY, I just expressed dissatisfaction at his reluctance to help.

Boco · 29/05/2009 22:43

Do you really not have a mobile? I've spoken to you on your mobile though havent' I?

pointydog · 29/05/2009 22:46

Boco · 29/05/2009 22:48

Am ver mature lady.

pointydog · 29/05/2009 22:50

Maybe your voice went all emotional as if you were crying. And we all know that's the same thing, really.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 29/05/2009 22:50

I am the proud owner of a laptop...
Jeez...dunno about a joggler though, setting this thing up had me folding myself Origami style!

(p.s did I miss what a joggler actually is or shall I just google?)

Both DD and DS have someone for a sleepover. (fixed).

I am bedless. There are only two extra children so why it feels like an army of miniature aliens invading I don't know...

I shall go and prop myself somewhere......

pointydog · 29/05/2009 22:52

oh I hate sleepovers so much. I have promised dd2 one in the summer. I can just about cope with them in the hols

SuperBunny · 30/05/2009 04:24

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2009 09:03

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2009 09:04

Happy birthday for yesterday, Molly.

What do you all think about gas ovens? Dh viewed one we've been considering from ebay in Boston spa yesterday, he was driving past for this charity walk thing for work where he is being the van support driver making tea , and he will be driving back past tomorrow and the auction ends tonight.

It is a lovely black enamelled range thing, has two ovens and big hob, but he says one door doesn't always shut first time and it's gas whereas I thought it was duel fuel.

I have no experience of a gas oven. Do they cook alright? Is it even etc?

mollyroger · 30/05/2009 14:06

Thank you all for lovely birthday wishes. I had an exellent day. With fruit and flowers and my graze box and river swimming and sunshine and riverside pints, and a lovely thai meal out in my parent's town while they babysat.
Was very funny as dh was teasing me about being sorry he'd not been able to sort the massed marching band for my birthday ....
when we walked round the corner and saw right opposite the restaurnt, they had closed the road for a local festival and there was bunting and balloons and a swing band playing Moon River...
We are off to uber-geek's 40th party tonight with sci fi theme. I am frantically spraying everything I own silver

FrayedKnot · 30/05/2009 20:21

Guad I don;t know about gas ovens. I remember my Granny had one and when we made toast we ahd to light the gas grill which was scary, but that's probably irrelevant.

I probably wouldn;t, tbh, although I would definitely choose gas hob over electric.

I still have a sore throat and feel a bit yuck. I would like to have enjoyed the weather a bit more.

We had a BBQ. Eventually

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/05/2009 20:28

It sounds like you had a lovely bday Molly, and enjoy the party tonight.

I had a gas oven and loved it. It took only a few minutes to get to temperature which was great. There is a difference in temperature within the oven (cooler at the bottom and warmer at the top), which can actually be quite handy. The only time it would be a real problem is if you are baking multiple items over two selves that all need the same temperature.

My list is shocking today

dried fruit
blueberries
cucumber
carrots

Baby Lemur and I are staying with my sister for the weekend, so dh can have a good bash at the extension without us distracting him. My bil and nephew are camping, so it's a girly weekend with my sis and niece. Baby Lemur is an honoury girl!

We went to Dedham today (one of John Constable's favourite places) and it was glorious. There wasn't a cloud in the sky as we laid by the river bank eating our ice creams!

littlerach · 30/05/2009 20:32

We've only ever haad electric.

Salad
tomatoes
carrot
cucumber
seewtcorn
pear
strawberries

Beautiful day again
Had to buy a new paddling pool which girls love

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2009 20:45

i like gas

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2009 20:56

arf

ahundredtimes · 30/05/2009 21:07

I like gas too, I hate electric hobs. But I am such an uber freaking ponce as we all know that I have an Aga - though it is gas, if that helps at all. [burns natural gases with abandon and rapes the sea too for good measure emoticon]

I am covered in nettle stings. They are still hurting about 3 hours later. It's being permanently nervous - and I keep thinking why is my skin prickling, what can I possibly be so worried about, we are only watching BGT. Then I remember.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 30/05/2009 21:07

me after a day at the MIL's and trying to establish internet access in my bedroom

me after nearly 1 1/2 hrs cycling...

I am not a lover of sleepovers...they turn me into a gibbering wreck, especially when I am turfed out of my bolt hole.

I have swimming pool

I have a gas oven Guad and always cooked on them when I worked i catering...I like them and find the hobs very much easier to control. Have never had concerns about consistency of cooking but it does seem odd when you first cnage over.

I am sort on a diet detox to see if I can affect the pain levels through what I eat and will have to reduce the fruit I eat to affect the acidity level in my body....need ore research but definately feel 'cleaner'.

ahundredtimes · 30/05/2009 21:08

Also SB are you okay, because you are not sounding like yourself old thing.
