For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Guadalupe · 23/05/2009 19:58

You can borrow this one, Toot, loads of sex.

TooTicky · 23/05/2009 19:58

Okay, if a 10YO BOY (OBVIOUSLY INFLUENCED BY SCHOOL FRIENDS) STARTS USING GAY AS AN INSULT.....WHERE DO i START?

Oops!

TooTicky · 23/05/2009 19:59

Yes, just veg. Am paranoid cos dp says bloody beverything iswatery. Not that he will be eating it.

Guadalupe · 23/05/2009 20:00

The I might stick so much cornflour in his that the spoon stands up.

TooTicky · 23/05/2009 20:00

Hmm, not sure about the cringeing blunt, but thanks anyway Guad.

Guadalupe · 23/05/2009 20:01

It is just about saved by the comedy but only just.

TooTicky · 23/05/2009 20:02

He doesn't eat with us any more anyway.

Guadalupe · 23/05/2009 20:02

Oh.

Guadalupe · 23/05/2009 20:03

well, wateriness is one less thing to worry about at least

FrannyandZooey · 23/05/2009 20:04

"gay just means someone who loves people of the same sex as them - our friend x is gay. some small minded people think it's wrong to be gay and the nazis tried to kill all gay people. don't use it as an insult - that's ignorant and nasty - i expect something more creative from smart boy like you. try (....insert foul insult....) instead"

(joking about last bit. probably)

very good answer

sorky · 23/05/2009 20:07

goodness that is a blinding answer franny

SuperBunny · 23/05/2009 20:07

TooT, it'll be fine. Whizz away.

I think I'd just tell DS that it's fine to be gay. It means 'happy' or 'liking people of the same sex' and there is nothing wrong with either so it isn't a very good insult.

I just sold my iron and ironing board.

TooTicky · 23/05/2009 20:07

Hmm. Yes. So far I have been trying, "Well I don't think x is gay, but if he/she is, it isn't a problem," sort of thing. But he knows he can provoke dd1 to tears of rage with it

FrannyandZooey · 23/05/2009 20:09

do you think dd is gay toot?
i would be sending a VERY strong message that homophobia not ok

SuperBunny · 23/05/2009 20:09

Oh, I hadn't read Franny's post but I was going to suggest challenging him to come up with something a little more interesting. Or introduce him to Monty Python type insults.

SuperBunny · 23/05/2009 20:10

Poor DD.

I think I'd be inclined to ignore it when he says it in future.

TooTicky · 23/05/2009 20:11

Hmm...I don't know. She certainly gets through a lot of boyfriends but I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I think she is curious certainly.
Oh god, and foul-mouthed! Good thing you cannot hear what is going on here, you would all disown me.

FrannyandZooey · 23/05/2009 20:12

ds2 has been lying here shaking his hand in the air and watching it for about half an hour

i do disagree about the gay thing - i wouldn't ignore this any more than i would ignore racism or sexual type bullying

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 23/05/2009 20:13

if you think she might be gay or bi i would think it especially important to have zero tolerance about gay insults
maybe i am wrong - i don't have 10 year olds
