For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I do generally have a decent breakfast but tend to miss lunch, not on purpose, just too busy.
I'm grazing throughout the day on snacky bits so I'll graze on fruit instead I thought. Evening meal is usually balanced too.
I'm going to swap tea for water.

My hunger must be related to her feeding because no sooner has she finished and I need to eat again

How does that sound?

Wait, TooT spent the night with Elivs?

Chilly here, rain, no sun. It's a bank holiday.

SuperBunny · 25/05/2009 14:59

Um, I asked that question a week or so ago, LR.

Chickpea salad
Bean Salad
Chickpea curry
Spiced Chickpeas
Chickpea and Spinach curry
Hummous
Tomatoey sauce for pasta or whatever with chickpeas

Um, dunno. But, if you have any good ideas, please let me know.

I have just eaten a lovely big bowl of blueberries and it made me think of you all so I thought I'd come and say hello They really were delicious, I want more! My fridge is usually stocked with a few bottles of Fentiman's ginger beer (it is one of my saviours when I am feeling yuck) so I looked o the label and it says "no more than 0.5% alcohol by volume" - I have never noticed it before

littlerach · 25/05/2009 17:17

Sorry, SB,takes a while ot catch up sometimes

Salad leaves
tomatoes

We went to the last working water mill in Suffolk today here. It was really interesting and the volunteer doing the tour got the level of detail just right.

The area around the millpond was just beautiful and the view was spectaular, gorgeous fields with their crops in and a windmill (with sails) in the distance.

I bought some of their wholemeal flour which they say makes a great loaf. They say I can use 100% wholemeal and the loaf won't be like a brick! That makes me sound like a right saddo, but all of the wholemeal loaves I've made in the breadmaker have been really heavy.

The mill was only 15 minutes away from where we live, but neither of us had been there before There's a working windmill only a few miles away from the mill, so we'll go there too.

I love windmills, there's something very interesting about them.

apple juice
rocket
salad
olives
sugar snap peas
spinach
onion
mushrooms

No no, I didn't spend the night with Elvis. It would have been too cold for him. He came to visit the tent in the morning and tickled my neck.

FrannyandZooey · 25/05/2009 19:38

lemur your tour around suffolk is so cool
water milled flour is meant to be the best
we don't use all wholemeal either because of brick like properties
i'd be interested to know what the new one is like

We always used to get flour from the water mill at Letheringsett in Norfolk and 'd save it to use in my christmas cakes and for special bread. It was delisious. I love your tour too lemur.

I want some ginger beer now. Has anyone ever made it? It looks quite simple

SuperBunny · 25/05/2009 19:54

LR, I wasn't complaining, just thought it was funny that I had a chickpea problem last week. The only solution was chickpea salad.

TooTicky · 25/05/2009 19:59

Breadmakers are a bit crap Lemur. They are fine for mixing but I do think bread bakes better in a proper oven.

littlerach · 25/05/2009 19:59

I always make Fairlady's Moorish Chickpeas. It is yummy.

Add a banana to my list.

We wnet on a Moon rabbit trail today at Lacock here ans dds enjoyed it. they got a packet of seeds each, and there is a nice park there too.

I have been sneezing all day htough.

Hello again FairLady

The Abbey looks lovely LR.

I know breadmakers aren't as good as diy, but diy just aint gonna happen here at the moment so it's the next best thing I will let you know how it goes with the flour.

My dad used to make ginger beer. It went a bit mad one year and the bottles started to explode all over my mums car (it was in the garage). Mum was not best pleased.

I'm loving our tour of Suffolk too
It's shocking that so many things are right under our nose and that we haven't visited them before.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/05/2009 21:39

Oh yeah, and who or what is Elvis???!!!
