For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

It looks in the past to me, Boco, where are you?

I am making tomato and onion soup with parmesan and basil for lunch. It smells lovely.

DD said over her breakfast this morning, I just LOVE sudden movements. As nobody had moved suddenly and she offered no further explanation I found this very amusing.

Guadalupe · 19/05/2009 11:08

EDF have finally come to move the electricity boxes today and their survey man got it wrong and it is not straightforward as the main cable is in a steel tube and this means they have to come back another time with lots more people and they will have to turn off the supply to one of the main streets in the city for some time.

I expect they will not class this an an emergency therefore fuck only knows when they will do it and we will be able to move in. We are going away 5th June and this was meant to be a relaxing holiday for AFTER we had moved.

Boco · 19/05/2009 11:10

Well, it was in the future then, but now it's in the past because we over took it. Of course.

Lol at dd adn her sudden movements - my dds watched Nim's Island yesterday and think that Nim looks just like your dd.

You've taken Lully's baton of unbelievably mouthwatering food preparation.

Toot your cake looks wonderful, I hope today is ok, will be thinking of you.

Guadalupe · 19/05/2009 11:15

Ah yes, so it is. Weird.

We love Nim's island. Have you decided whether to see Coraline yet?

Guadalupe · 19/05/2009 11:16

Wow, Toot. Great cake.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 19/05/2009 12:29

The cake is fab Toots, and so are you...thinking of you today.

Can't add any new books to list as you have just about put everything I could think of.

Tomato and onion soup...mmmmmmm .

Soup...mmmmmmm

Hello TF, how are you?

My pictures are finished at the framers and I am so nervous about picking them up. Exhibiting this weekend so nothing I can do if they don't work. I feel slightly nauseus constantly. In an excited but nervous sort of way.

I want to see coraline.

littlerach · 19/05/2009 13:06

Oh you are all ownderful

I have made a list of your recommendations and will give it to dd1.
Many of them she has read but there are lots of new ones ofr her to try.
Thank you all.
She has read nearly all of the books in her classroom at school now; those that are left are fantasy style that she doesn't really like.

Delicious salad with tomatoes, spinach, pastsa, peppers and beans of some kind.
pear

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2009 13:27

Excellent cake TooT. Been thinking of you x

Thanks for help on other thread. I'm just a bit crap at the moment. Franny, I don't think you are punishing your DS btw. You are making a not unreasonable request.

Guadalupe · 19/05/2009 17:08

Omg, they have to dig up the main road and as we are in front of a crossing that means they have to dig up the zebra crossing on the main road. I can't believe they are allowed to do it, it's the main ambulance route to the hospital. Maybe they don't dig up the whole thing?

Their surveyor is in trouble. It's going to cost 1000's of pounds, so maybe it's lucky it happened this way round. We would never have afforded that and would have been stuck with the boxes jutting out in the hall forever.

2 grapes
tomato and onion soup
salsa

monkeytrousers · 19/05/2009 19:54

Just back from a party - cake, crisps, pasta, lager - urgh - have tummy ache

monkeytrousers · 19/05/2009 19:55

I did make veggie soup yesterday though - without lentils. I've never done this before. DP said it reminded him of something he had read about food in the gulag!

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2009 20:01

i think i keep forgetting to list

yesterday's dinner:
lentils
swede
mushrooms

today so far:
blueberries
banana
apple
raisins
kidney beans
prunes
aubergine
courgette
salad leaves

monkey

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2009 20:06

i ended up taking 6 children to the park
it was actually surprisingly fun but then we got back and ds2 wanted feeding, and ds1 had had enough and was refusing to share anything, and the mum was late picking them up, and some MORE children arrived from somewhere, and i started to feel slightly hysterical
i went upstairs at one point and there was a toddler in the house from up the road - i didn't even know she was there
do you think it was like one of those Facebook parties where 600 strangers turn up?
anyway i kicked them all out and ds1 ate his dinner ok and got to go on the fecking trampoline
so all is well

OP posts:
pointydog · 19/05/2009 20:09

where were all these children coming from? Sounds like a zombie filmset.

(Could your neighbout quietly ditch the trampoline one night? )

ahundredtimes · 19/05/2009 20:11

But why do people let their toddlers wander about the neighbourhood? I don't understand it. i think Pointy might be right and they are all zombies or magwitch cuckoos.

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2009 20:12

some were my friend's, and some were our neighbours (non-trampoline side) and some were from elsewhere on the estate, but it was like they SMELT a playdate getting out of hand and all came up the street like the bisto kids

oh you know Neighbourhood Boy of tree pushing fame? he has not been seen much lately since ds1 said "L said 'you have been a bit funny with me recently, is it because you think i pushed your trees?'" and i said "tell him YES"

OP posts:
pointydog · 19/05/2009 20:13

sultanaa
orange
grapes
red pepper houmus
green beans/peas/baby sweetcorn
beetroot

6.5 so far, I'd say

ahundredtimes · 19/05/2009 20:14

lol at 'tell him YES'

I meant midwich.

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2009 20:14

well it is very quiet round here (except for odd bit of tree pushing)
i let ds play out since he was 3, but he was never allowed to wander into people's houses
i think they were all playing out the front and some came in and she probably got carried away and followed them

But no money to do anything
My brother wants to take them to our favourite childhood museum in newcastle which has been revamped.
I tried to persuade him to switch to next weekend which is
a) my birthday
b) we need a sitter then anytway for a friend's party
c) We get paid.
But he can only do this weekend because his girlfriend is too busy to see him

ahundredtimes · 19/05/2009 20:17

I like her v. much. What was she doing upstairs?

I once wandered off at about 3 when we were on holiday in Spain, and everyone looked for me for ages and eventually found me sitting on the bar in a pub.

mollyroger · 19/05/2009 20:21

Franny - before a grew more of a spine - I once ended up with 11 children ranging from 3-11 in my house. All hapily doing arts and crafts while a thunderstorm raged outside.
But I was manic with the stress, and knowing it would never be reciprocated as I wouldn't let my boys in anyone else's house....I only knew 6 of them and two of them were my children
