For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

she was on her own, holding a remote control car by the aerial
i said "hello eleanor, what are you doing here?"
she always has a dummy in and she just looked at me like the baby from the simpsons, but i could see her smiling enigmatically round the edges of it

Sounds like where I grew up. There were always random grubby toddlers standing around and they always had a dummy in. Or a bottle full of Tizer. Not really, I made that bit up.

I have lost a pound and a half this week. I am celebrating by putting it all back on again with halloumi chilli pitta breads and wine.

pointydog · 19/05/2009 20:51

When we lived in a lower flat, all the very small children would wander and roam around the communcal garden and they would always end up at my back door (only a couple of brassneckers ever came in) and asked for toys or juice or food.

i had these roasted aubergines, courgettes and mushrooms that looked all horrible and grey and dry and greasy at the same time
i bunged them with pasta and pesto and cheese on top and it was ruddy delicious

Thanks for kind thoughts and cake compliments

pointydog · 19/05/2009 22:05

hi toot. hope the funeral was a good coming-together

FrayedKnot · 19/05/2009 22:27

Hello

I tried to post earlier but MN didn;t want to play.

TooT I expect you do feel exhausted. Hope everything went OK considering.

SB did you get some good advice on your thread? I understand the principles of UP but actually having the patience to do it is generally beyond me

Pointy I last read a childrens' book suitable for an 8 year old about 30 yrs ago but I am looking forward to discovering new authors as DS gets older

Monkey, I regularly make mushy delectable veg / lentil concoctions and take them to work to reheat for lunch, and regularly withstand the mockery from my colleagues eating their white baguettes etc. You do have to be 'ard to be a vegger.

Oh Mits, god luck with the exhibition!

My knee hurts. I think it's because I've been doing more cycling. Do I need to adjust my saddle or something?

pinkspottywellies · 19/05/2009 23:10

Evening. I should be in bed.

Very little veg. Less exercise. Run-in with playworker at surestart centre messy play

Night all

SuperBunny · 20/05/2009 01:32

Pink, what happened? Are you ok?

What a lot of children, Franny.

I did get lots of good advice, FK (thank you to those of you who helped). I have been trying to be patient with DS but am finding it hard when he pushes me so much. I am concentrating so hard on not shouting that I am not smiling. I have stolen the technique he has been taught at playgroup for calming down when feeling pissed off. I am beginning to understand how people end up yelling, "Put your fecking shoes on. NOW." Of course, I haven't actually said it but I have thought it.

Molly, your boys aren't going to Beamish, are they? I have ALWAYS wanted to go there.

100, I finished your book, (don't have much time to read), and loved it.

My Dad spent some time in Af. and he used to talk of the dryness and smells so much I felt I had been there and your descriptions made me feel the same.

Didn't post SB on your thread but pinched some ideas..

What did the bollocks taste like? .

FK, adjusting saddle might help, or different gear on challenging bits, or tubi-grip style support thingies. It is very harsh on knees. I am cycling to a friends tonight. I haven't been out on my own socially in the evening for about 12 years.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/05/2009 07:52

Wow Bunny, you've been eating bollocks. How were they?!

Morning Toot. I hope things went ok yesterday. Those words don't convey what I'm trying to say, but I hope you know what I mean. You were in my thoughts a lot yesterday.

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2009 08:08

TooT i bet you will be tired today, hope you can have a restful day

Hope you're ok tooT.

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2009 08:09

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/05/2009 08:14

I would do what you are doing. Stay at the house today, then if you trust the boy and his interaction with your ds let them go to the park another time.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 20/05/2009 09:19

I have just rescued 3 baby thrushes. I wouldn't normally have touched them but they were in an old industrial water feature that we have in our village. There was no way out. Oh my God. I felt so humbled. Absolutely tiny bundles of perfection. My heart nearly stopped.

I also watched this and I feel quite quite ace.

TooTicky · 20/05/2009 12:54

Wow!!!!!!for thrush rescue woman!!

I have gone to bed!!
Left dd2 at playgroup and came upstairs with leftover funeral food, tea and laptop. I am surreally tired.

Boco · 20/05/2009 13:20

You could try putting some natural yoghurt on the thrushes and see if that helps.
