Thought I would start this as the other one was getting really long.

Since I started the other thread I have lots a few pounds, put them back on, lost them etc etc etc. Finally realised that I need to do something about it after this last week of chocolate and crap, went out today for lunch and ate far too much.

On Monday I am going to Rosemary Conleys, i did go before but the time didn't really suit me, but this one finished and starts earlier so I can go when DH is at work while my mum has ds. So I am really going for it now.

Congrats on the ones who joined me last time and have actually managed to lose weight. Watch this space.....

Got weighed yesterday, and I lost 5lbs (yippee). A good incentive to carry on after my first week of dieting. Well chuffed.

Tinker · 10/06/2003 19:12

Atkins people - does anyone know why you must do the induction for 2 weeks and not just one? If, as the book says, you start to switch to burning fat after 2 or 3 days, why can't you gradually increase your carb intake after a week?

runragged · 10/06/2003 19:28

Rosiemum, I'm assured by the highest authority that sweetcorn is okay. This is because without wanting to be too graphic it comes out in the same form as it goes in!

SamboM · 10/06/2003 22:23

Thanks all, may try that if I can ever eat again...

DH, DD and I have all had the most awful vomiting bug and haven't eaten since yesterday morning, seem to have lost half a stone, but most of that is presumably water!

Rosiemum · 16/06/2003 21:55

Time to check in again - still loosing, down to 13st 11lb today - that's a total loss of 1st 10lb.

Been going to the gym about 5 times a week as well, and really starting to feel the benefits.

breeze · 19/06/2003 16:41

Roseiemum, well done

I put on 2 lb this week, but we were away and it was cooked breakfast every morning, where we were staying it had 3 pubs all trying to get the food business and starters were £1.50 and so were puddings, so at those prices you had to.

back on track now though (well tomorrow at least)

eidsvold · 19/06/2003 18:33

well done everyone - have not checked for a while. Tonight weighed in - have lost 22lbs so far.... slowly but surely it is coming off.

Breeze - don't worry - no point in worrying about it - like you said - back on track.... and I would have too.....( had the starters and pudding and probably put on more!!)

IDismyname · 19/06/2003 18:57

Congratulations everyone, too

I am so nearly at my goal weight at WW... A week ago last wednesday, I was half a pound off my 26lb goal. My leader was desperate to make me a gold member there and then, but I refused and said i needed the incentive to lose the final half pound.

So, off I trot to WW 2 days ago, and I'd PUT on one and a half pounds. I still cannot believe it. I'm surrounded by people losing 3 or 4 lbs a week, and I cannot manage a HALF.

I've been at WW nearly a year now, so overall weight loss has been very slow. But, Oh BOY, am I being strict this week!

You are all welcome to give me a kick up the proverbial, as I need it badly...

fio2 · 19/06/2003 19:47

is WW successful? I am thinking about going to my local one as I seem to have no self control trying to diet on my own, I am getting fatter by the minute.

eidsvold · 20/06/2003 07:48

I am attending ww meetings and I find it such an incentive. The biggest plus is that really you can have anything you want provided it is in moderation or you have planned for it so I don't feel restricted. My leader is brilliant and very supportive. Great recipes and hints for serving food differently. That is one thing I have enjoyed is trying out new recipes instead of the old usuals. Dh is also able to eat what I eat and there is no need to worry about separate meals...

Fms don't be so hard on yourself. IT may have just been one of those weeks and we all have them - the thing is not to keep on going - which you won't do. My weight loss has slowed but I am glad it is still coming off - although I have a long way to go yet.

SamboM · 20/06/2003 09:44

Well done all you successful weight losers!

I have started the Atkins diet today as I seem to have ground to a halt with WW. It just makes me hungry all the time! I am not a huge fan of carbs anyway so thought I would try it.

I have so far lost a stone and have another stone to lose to get back to pre preg weight. Then another two to get to my ideal weight so that's 42lbs in total aaaargh! Think I will stick to the stone for now!

My dh has joined me, he is worried about what he's going to eat for lunch though. He doesn't like taking lunch, and we are having eggs for breakfast so he doesn't want to have them again for lunch. Anyone got any good ideas - he has nowhere to prepare food at work either so has to go to sandwich bars or sainsburys.

fio2 · 20/06/2003 09:59

thats why I liked the idea of WW I will have to join my local one. Is it still free registration, if not does anyone know how much it is?

SamboM · 20/06/2003 10:41

Yes, I liked WW but didn't really have enough willpower, I did lose a stone but then it all petered out...

Maybe cos I did it online and didn't go to meetings?

I do like the sound of Atkins as I love cheese!

Furball · 20/06/2003 13:04

Sambo - Theres lots of low carb web sites with loads of receipes, somebody here recommended This one . If you chuck 'low carbs' into your search engine, you'll have enough receipes to last you for yonks.

Summers always a good time for Mr Atkins' fans as it's quite easy just to go and fire up the barbie!

Good Luck

I myself have fallen off yet another diet (which one haven't I done?) and have had to be strict with myself, yes I've joined Slimming World last week. - Lost 10 pounds the first week unfortunately it was £'s not lb's

Tinker · 20/06/2003 13:10

SamboM - Atkins is easy in the summer and in the week - get fresh cooked chicken from supermarket and eat with salad for lunch etc but....it does get difficult at weekends - no beer! I've tried to be low carb but have not been strict about Atkins. Have allowed myself summer fruits, wine, odd slice of wholemeal bread. When I have been strict I've lost some weight but think that is just because I'm not eating enough generally. But strangely, didn't feel hungry.

SamboM · 20/06/2003 13:38

Aha, I'm not a fan of beer anyway so that's ok. I gather you can drink spirits so now's a good time to try and kick my £7 a day bottle of wine habit. (between us that is not each)!

Thanks for all the tips, will let you know how i get on!

eidsvold · 20/06/2003 19:04

fio - daily mail on weekend and news of the world have little cut out free registration vouchers. Weekly it is 4.75 for me to attend. Check their website to see if it is free registration.

fio2 · 21/06/2003 08:25

thanks eidsvold dh has just gone to fetch a daily mail (cos of the free cd!) so I'll have a quick scour through

willow2 · 21/06/2003 11:30

Came back from hols yesterday. Stepped on scales - gingerly - this morning, convinced I'd put on half a stone at least, only to discover I've put on just 1lb. Hoo-bloody-rah.

SamboM · 21/06/2003 14:24

Good holiday Willow2?

Rosiemum · 21/06/2003 21:35

Just had to share this:

I went out shopping today as so much of my wardrobe is now too big for me, and guess what? I'm back into size 16 jeans!!!! That's two dress sizes lost!

I know to the 'skinnies' out there size 16 sounds big, but to me it's bloody fantastic as I haven't been there for years! Thank you thank you thank you Dr Atkins...

Oh, and my hubby can't keep his hands off me.....

willow2 · 21/06/2003 22:14

SamboM - yes thanks. V chilled. Ds had fab time too.

eidsvold · 22/06/2003 07:30

that is the best feeling isn't it Rosiesmum... I went dress shopping the other day and bought a 16 - mind you the belly is still there and no way i can get into straight 16 skirt but this a was a flowy dress which could be taken in around the hips etc a bit - and like you I am down two sizes and was ecstatic when I got home.

SamboM · 22/06/2003 12:32

Well I've been on Atkins since Friday and have lost 4lbs! Having ground to a halt on my WW this is great. My clothes feel better already. Well done Rosiemum and Eidsvold btw!

However, I HATE having eggs and meat for brekkie every day. Anyone got any good ideas for alternatives? Have resorted to sugar free Jelly this morning cos I couldn't face my bacon and eggs! (then had them too as jelly sorted out my sweet craving).

Did anyone else wee all the time when first on Atkins? I can't stop, though I have recently come off steroids (hurrah! been on them for 18 months) so that could be why.

Chiccadum · 26/06/2003 15:19

Just letting everyone know that i have now lost 31lb in 8 weeks doing weightwatchers and I'm still enjoying going to the gym
