For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

at your grandmother toot....

Do you take after her at all?

Mine was convinced I was a lesbian because I never had boyfriends.....

I have a dirty mind and you having dipper envy made me snirk...now dippers will make me lol....

Actually I have just got a dirty mind and it is summer and well......sigh, it is Diet Coke season.....

I knew a man that filled his front room with compost (literally) and grew mushrooms...

Mushrooms,
tomatoes,
banana x2
apples x2,
raspberries,
juice,
cranberries,

a run.

Molly....hmm...salads and lots of water and a new vice?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/05/2009 17:47

lol at Mrs Piss Hat. She sounds like a real one off Toot. I hope you can remember more stories, then eventually you can remember her with a smile rather than tears.

Is the weight gain due to giving up the fags Moll? I don't know anyone who hasn't put on weight when they've given up. They did lose it though.

TooTicky · 07/05/2009 18:14

Like you having a dirty mind is news to anybody Mits

Lemur

Bee says hi!! She is all whirly and busy but in a good way.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/05/2009 18:35

banana
smoothie
grapes
carrots
humous
tomatoes
mushrooms
peppers
sweetcorn
dried fruit

And a long walk with Baby Lemur around the village.

So ............. 10/10

pointydog · 07/05/2009 18:39

worse than mediocre today:

sultana bran (I peered as I poured them today and there are a heck of a lot of sultnaas in there, more than I thought)
banana
broccoli (cooked to buggery)

some odds and ends of vegetables in a curry sauce but I won't count them, they were measly

much beetroot.

I forgot to take anything out the freezer for tea so the three other pointys had beans on toast and I had a marvellous tuna and beetroot sandwich plus lots of beetroot on the side. Other p ointys retched.

only 4. how rubbish. I have an orange put aside.

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2009 18:49

LOL @ Mrs Piss Hat

pointy you should have had beans, they would have been another portion

wossa dipper?

blueberries
banana
raisins
pineapple
hummus
carrots
cucumber
sweet potato
cabbage
corn

= 10

haven't done my exercise
i was going to do some after dinner then having eaten a whopping roast dinner realised my tactical error
what now? ds2 going to bed in 10 mins
ds1 and dp upstairs on the bed where i occasionally do something with the fit ball
stomach still rather on full side
do you think exceptionally vigorous typing could count?

100 don't egg me on, as i will go Too Far in an attempt to show off to you, and pointy may not find it funny

OP posts:
pointydog · 07/05/2009 18:53

there were no beans left, franny. ONly enough for three.

Mind you, I can see myself nabbing some of their beans in a week or two, screeching 'I need another portion to reach 10'

SuperBunny · 07/05/2009 19:02

I want to go to the farmer's market with TooT and LR

I have put on tons of weight.

Strawberries, banana, grapes (3)

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/05/2009 19:11

mollyroger · 07/05/2009 19:14

Raw baby spinach (home grown [preeeen])
Lettuce

mollyroger · 07/05/2009 19:15

mollyroger · 07/05/2009 19:15

[ xx]

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/05/2009 19:16

Pointy, you make me laugh with your 'putting an orange aside'.

Oh, and Fuck Off Mits

Maybe you need to take a few turns around the garden Franny? What do you do with the fit ball?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/05/2009 19:19

Molly beat me to the Fuck Off

Although with that list I think she deserves a Fuck Off too.

I thought the tuna and beetroot sounded rather wrong. But then I hate beetroot, it tastes like dirt.

SuperBunny · 07/05/2009 19:22

I think Molly deserves a Fuck Off too

ahundredtimes · 07/05/2009 19:27

My children are obsessed by Boco. Why is this? When we met DS2 said to her in his usual shy and reticent way, 'Hey! Boco! I won a singing prize' and she said v. nicely, 'Yes, I heard about that.' Then ds2 won another prize, and he said 'Are you going to tell Boco about this as well, you should' and I said v. generously 'Absolutely.'

Now dd has just said, 'why don't you tell Boco about our garden on a plate and all the trouble we had with it, and how good it is now?'

and I said rather tightly, 'I'm sure she isn't interested'

dd 'Oh you MUST tell her. And when you said 'you deserve so much better than this dd, it's a dreadful garden on a plate.'

In a way, I am telling you now Boco.

We might send you a weekly newsletter perhaps instead.

mollyroger · 07/05/2009 19:27

oh well, don't mind if I do. Thank you!

helps self

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2009 19:34

oi why am i not getting fucked off? i did 10 as well

lol at turns round the garden
i whizzed down to duck pond and back
8 ducklings
no dippers
have googled
they ain't from round these here parts

having started walking i did indeed, as per OP, want to do more, but alas i was needed here as pillow for ds2's silken head

10 / 10 though

lemur i sometimes do ball squats where you lean against wall and sort of roll down, then hold it
good for the thighs i believe
sometimes crunches on the ball, and a thing where you rest on your thighs facing down, with your feet braced against the wall, and kind of lift up
ah like this
except there's a bit of huffing when i do it

Mackerel and beetroot go very well together, I imagine tuna isn't so different. Fresh mackerel is lovely with a beetroot and horseradish chutney. I love beetroot, in fact my favorite soup is beetroot and dill with creme fraiche.

Grapefruit juice
grapes
chickpeas
head of parsley
two lemons
apples
broccoli
asparagus loads at least 2 portions
strawberries
raspberries
blueberries
orange

Three small bouts of running, some walking and I have started doing half an hour of weights in front of the tv in the evening.

mollyroger · 07/05/2009 19:40

I adore beetroot in all forms. And tuna
But the thought of the two together just seems. Wrong.
Maybe it's the idea of pink tuna which repels me

Franny,
FUCK
OFFFFFFF!!!!!!

Anyone know any good excersie for bingo wings?

SuperBunny · 07/05/2009 19:40

Fuck Off Franny

SuperBunny · 07/05/2009 19:42

I am a beetroot fan too. Nothing better than a big steaming bowl of borscht.

I planted some golden beets but I don't know what they taste like.

Guadalupe · 07/05/2009 19:42

That's what I'm doing my lady weights for, Molly. You hold them down and sort of twist our arm up behind you. Aches like buggery.

mollyroger · 07/05/2009 19:45

oh lordy, I feared as much. Will y arm just not snap?

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/05/2009 19:48

We have an exercise ball. I get to exercise when I dodge it as it is being lobbed around the garden.

Hilarious as it has slightly deflated and feels like a big squishy ball!!
