For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I know it's not about calories but I do need to start thinking that way a bit.

At times, I have felt my tummy moving when I have been walking. aaargh. nightmare

TooTicky · 09/04/2009 19:55

Oh, it looks as if it will get dark earlier today. I was hoping to run up to the village and back.

pointydog · 09/04/2009 19:56

sultana bran
banana
tomato pasta sauce
green olives

will have orange later. Maybe two

FrannyandZooey · 09/04/2009 19:56

when dp, the mobile member of the family, comes downstairs again, i'm going to eat some prunes, some melon and some grapes

Pointy, it would be worse if your tummy stayed where it was. you would have to stay with it.

hotcrossllama · 09/04/2009 19:57

yes, lots of the calories in them come from sugar

but brilliant for fibre and vit A

FrannyandZooey · 09/04/2009 19:57

pointy thinking about the calories in a dried apricot is madness
eat lots of f+v and fill yourself up and you won't get too wobbly

TooTicky · 09/04/2009 19:58

When the grocery pig flies past the window, he is going to bring me 10 portions of the finest f&v and I am going to eat the lot.

hotcrossllama · 09/04/2009 19:58
pointydog · 09/04/2009 19:59

whya re you not mobile, farn?

FrannyandZooey · 09/04/2009 19:59

llama
face - bit bumpy
body - really good
bottom - 3rd week of being steadily more abysmal
he gives a gorgeous smile when he has weed in the potty though
maybe if i could do 100% potty training it would fix it but it just isn't feasible

TooTicky · 09/04/2009 19:59

hotcrossllama · 09/04/2009 19:59

FrannyandZooey · 09/04/2009 20:00

if dp refused that would be best method of weight loss yet

OP posts:
hotcrossllama · 09/04/2009 20:01

is that an overall improvement apart from his bottom
will it help when it gets warmer and he can run around half naked

you just peel, chop, eat (for about three days ..they are big )

hotcrossllama · 09/04/2009 20:03

and hello Goober

TooTicky · 09/04/2009 20:03
FrannyandZooey · 09/04/2009 20:05

oh yes it's v good indeed - except for the bottom but i am sometimes resigned to that
he has had it since christmas
it;s just when he has h/c cream and then is clearly so happy and relieved not to be itching constantly
then we have to stop using it
anyway i have gone on at length so many times, sorry
he can't go without nappy as he scratches and draws blood
it's so much better when dp is here - he does nappy changes as it doesn't upset him so much
he is off till tues then it's me alone again [slight rising panic]
