For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello all....hi molly.....was thinking about where you might be!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/04/2009 12:14

Happy Birthday to ds1!

How's the cake?

I too loved those choc machines.

Tatties · 10/04/2009 16:25

Happy Birthday to ds1 Franny!
I also wanted one of those (never got one though, along with Mr Frosty ) Sorry about the tears, I hope you've all had a good day though. Birthdays are tiring aren't they!

littlerach · 10/04/2009 17:03

Happy Birthday LittelF&Z.

Dd1 had one of those and she managed for a bit, then it didn't work.
I never had one, so guess I did the same as you!

Been to Longleat.
We handled corn snake, giant rabbit, bearded dragon, giant milipede and leopard lizrd thing.
Dds loved it.

It did rain, but darted about between downpours.

We have been cycling in Thetford forest and cycling is hard when you haven't done it for years. First time ds2 has gone in a seat on the back so we could go really fast. It was great fun, had a picnic halfway round which was lovely except for ants filing over us faster than we could flick them off. And my arse hurts.

Dh kindly forgot to tell me that he was collecting his brother who lives in Thailand from the airport yesterday and that he is staying with us and he is ill, fever last night, now a terrible upset stomach. I am trying not to FREAK OUT about it but I am seceretly sure we will all die of some tropical disease he has brought back, probably on easter sunday just after I have gone to great effort to set up an egg hunt.

Toot - You are mental. You shouldn't run every day for good health let alone twice. I hope you are wearing good shoes. You are wearing shoes aren't you?

Right, chorizo and chickpea stew bubbling, cous-cous to fluff and I need a gin.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Franny's ds.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/04/2009 18:52

at snake

You were only about 15 minutes away from where I live Guad I stress about ticks everytime I go into Thetford Forest.

I hope your bil is ok, and more importantly I hope his illness doesn't interrupt the egg hunt

May I have the recipe for the chorizo and chickpea stew please, it sounds divine.

banana
apple juice
dried fruit
beans
kale
carrots
peach
apricots

We had a roast dinner at the IL's today then went for a lovely long walk with Baby Lemur in the backpack.

FrayedKnot · 10/04/2009 20:10

Evening everyone

Happy Birthday to Franny's DS1 - hope you had a lovely day.

I had one of those chocolate machines when I was a kid, but we weren;t rich

TooT even proper athletes don;t train every day so I think it's too much. You should rest on at least 2 days a week. And you should make sure you eat a lot more than you usually would - if you are, that's fine. That's my ha'peth of onions or whatver you call it.

Stuffit the nivea wetwipes made me laugh a lot.

Guad hope you get the eggs in first, anyway

Today we ate lunch outside for the first time this year, it was lovely

pointydog · 10/04/2009 20:11

orange juice
red pepper humous
banana
orange
lotso of spinahc in curry
plus a veg curry

littlerach · 10/04/2009 20:16

The snake was actually really cool.

I am terrified of spiders and beetles but snake was just different to touch. I wanted to hold it, but handler wasn't happy to let me. It kept winding round her quite tightly so guess it was safety and all.
It was quite warm in parts of it's body.

Dh held the horrid giant milipede. I smiled kindly at it and him.

Guad, I would be freaking about illness and D&V with a poorly houseguest.

haven't cycled for a hundred years or so

We are maybe buying a rabbit tomorrow. I have Said No for 3 years. I may relent. Dd2 is v keen with all animals (excpet dogs).

Guadalupe · 10/04/2009 20:17

Oh yes, stuffit, that poo story was hilarious.

I hope I make it to the egg part too, though I will attempt not to eat any this year. I am determined to do well at the next weigh-in after a paltry effort in the last two weeks. I have a faberge style beeswax easter egg that my friend made for me. It looks lovely. I can't wait to light it.

We are going to a friend's for sunday lunch though, and there will be trifle. I love trifle.

littlerach · 10/04/2009 20:17

Oh yes, food.

raisins

banana

coleslaw

God that's awful.

Again.

Will Try Harder.

Guadalupe · 10/04/2009 20:19

I am taking deep breaths about the houseguest, LittleR. I am thinking of asking him to stay in the garden if he feels ills again. I mean, he lives in a hut anyway, it will probably feel more homely won't it. Except he is cold, and we have a fire going on this fine day.

FrannyandZooey · 10/04/2009 20:19

melon
pineapple
raspberries
mango and passionfruit smoothie thing
hummus
seaweed salad
veg tempura
temaki roll with avocado and mango
tofu inari
weirdy green tea ice cream in a frozen pouch

and
the gym for 45 minutes

FrannyandZooey · 10/04/2009 20:20

Guadalupe · 10/04/2009 20:21

2 cherry tomatoes
apple
grapes
courgette
carrot
pepper
salad
orange
tropical juice

and LOADS of cycling.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/04/2009 20:21

tofu inari? what is that?

I made a peach and apricot trifle today, it was bland. Not enough booze in it.

FrannyandZooey · 10/04/2009 20:22

i love snakes, big ones anyway
i don't fancy the thought of lots of little ones slithering about all over you like in films

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 10/04/2009 20:23

Was the green tea ice-cream nice? My friend ordered that last time in the Japanese restaurant and we found it really bitter.

FrannyandZooey · 10/04/2009 20:23

it's a pouch made of tofu, don't ask me how, with rice in it
i have probably said it wrong - i think inari means 'tofu pouch' so tofu inari is like saying a tofu tofu pouch

i'll stop blethering now

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/04/2009 20:24

Oh yes, how did the party go?

Are you all knackered, but also buzzing on a sugar-laden-party-food high?

Guadalupe · 10/04/2009 20:25

Ha, I had one of those today too. In a waitrose sushi pack that ds was eating. I shall announce it as tofu inari next time.

HotCrossGoober · 10/04/2009 20:25

Hi again .
Cherry jam (this counts, I've decided),
Banana,
2 lots of grapes,
Massive salad with pickled onions, beetroot, gerkins.
Like the sound of ice cream, I want some!
