For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh god, don't be sorry. It could well be what happens for all I know, just seemed a long time - though I suppose these mental illnesses/addictions do take a long to recover from. The person has to want to help themselves.

Thank goodness no-one was hurt while she was drunk driving. I hope your FIL gets some good support.

FrannyandZooey · 23/04/2009 22:34

well i can't see her recovering in 18 months or ever really
perhaps a small amount of wishful thinking crept in there

god i do worry about the boys
what a lot of alcohol problems in our families

Oh Franny, poor DP. Sounds very very hard. I am sure that bec you and DP are so aware of your family Issues, the boys will grow up treating alcohol properly.

Night evderyone

SuperBunny · 24/04/2009 03:56

What a mess Franny - hope DP is ok. And hope hospital is helpful for DS2.

Guad, what do you put in your chickpea salad? Other thank chickpeas, obviously. I love portobellos instead of burgers. If I whizz it in the blender, DS thinks it is a real hamburger and gets very cross when I try to tell him it's not.

Pointy, the next step sounds quite stressful. I hope the DF helps.

Banana
strawberries
ratatouille (2?)
peas
sushi - carrot - I ate quite a lot so I will count it
Juice

Seven. Ugh.

SuperBunny · 24/04/2009 04:13

re 'salad' - people here often serve jello salad with the main course. It is some sort of jelly, chopped into wodges and mixed into a pile of coolwhip (fake whipped cream) or marshmallow fluff

SuperBunny · 24/04/2009 04:21

I don't know what the * was for but I have a question:

apricot kernels - nuts or fruit? Can I count 'em or not?

dried mango
pistachios (just for Franny)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/04/2009 06:55

jello salad????

Good luck with ds2 today Franny, and many thanks for the email.
