For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

the maritime museum has a little cafe section at the edge of a vast mostly empty space
i think we could buy an expensive french pastry each (bloody nice) and then eat our marmite sandwiches under the table, while the children run around madly look at the educational exhibits

no, I haven't looked at teh fruiterers' rules and regulations, fran. It's more... er... dynamic to pick things up as you go along.

I feel like asking, how come houmous counts but sunflower and pumpkin seeds don't. But I fear I will be referred to section 8.2 rule 97, so I won't ask .

I skim over all mention of meet-up, trix, because it scares me. PLus, if it's London-way I can't make it. I'm too far away.

pointydog · 22/04/2009 22:12

re dairy free, bunny, no cock-ups today. dd2 had a dairy free lunch at school. She accepted a toffee from a friend, though. I told her she was BAD (no, not really). We had spaghetti and pasta sauce for tea, without any grated cheese .

It's been nearly a week and no real evidence of any improvement in her skin yet. She was getting changed for PE today and a girl (who dd2 doesn't get on with) said 'ohh, smallpointy, that looks sore, is it very sore?'

FrannyandZooey · 22/04/2009 22:20

pointy i think skin things do take a while to work through sometimes. am hopeful for you

hummus is made of chickpeas btw
so ner

MIL troubles here
poor dp

I know it is made of chickpeas - lol. But (and this is where I am lacking planty intelligence) do chickpeas come under the fruit and veg category?

FrannyandZooey · 22/04/2009 22:33

yes

if you want to know what counts and what doesn't please feel free to read link in OP
if you prefer to just carry on announcing random food stuffs that is also ok
but you won't get so many stickers and i may be tetchy at you

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 22/04/2009 22:33

TooTicky · 22/04/2009 22:44

Have we had anything like:
I am one in ten, a vegetable on a list?
I can't remember.

TooTicky · 22/04/2009 22:46

Red red grapes?

TooTicky · 22/04/2009 22:46

Kingston sprout?

TooTicky · 22/04/2009 22:47

TooTicky · 22/04/2009 22:52

womblingalong · 22/04/2009 23:24

TooTicky · 22/04/2009 23:26

Wombling, I love you

TooTicky · 22/04/2009 23:28

Actually, did we have I am one in ten, cucumber on a list?

SuperBunny · 23/04/2009 00:47

Pointy, I do hope there is some improvement soon. If DF doesn't help, what would be the next step?

Sorry for MIL troubles.

I like 'If it apples again I'm leafing' but if it is a song title, I don't get it.

aforementioned seven + banana (2), strawberries, ratatouille (2)

TWELVE. Ha!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/04/2009 07:48

If I could turn back thyme ?

Thyme after thyme ?

I had planned to come to the meet up, but my parents have offered to take us on holiday this year, but they don't know where or when yet (don't ask) so I can't really commit to anything at the moment. Which is a bit of a bummer really.

FrannyandZooey · 23/04/2009 08:56

toot i am LOLing at your devotion to UB40
the apples one is very good actually, shall we have that? (it's a UB40 song bunny)

lemur as it is a picnic you can just say you'd like to come and then see how things go, can't you? it's not like we have to book and pay for a restaurant or anything
