For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I like the apples one.

mollyroger · 23/04/2009 11:12

hello hello,

I am quote of the week on homepage
Would you all like my autograph?

5 years of highly suspect original filth wittiness-- and bollocks anecdotes and they quote me on a very old pirate joke I once saw on a badge....

osba! Long time no see

Blueberries
Raisins
Tinned peaches (again)
Banana
Chickpeas
Sweetcorn
Tomatoes
Red onion
Red pepper
green pepper
Bean sprouts
Carrot
Shredded Chinese leaf

I have no bookstand lecturn thingy. I rarely use recipe books. But the ones I do use are covered in flour and butter and smears of tomato.
That's the law isn't it?

littlerach · 23/04/2009 12:05

More sun, isn't it lovely

I have a F&V question:
What constitutes a salad?
At the Co Op today I was brwosing the salads, many of whaich were simply cold pasta with a sauce, in a pot, and named "pasta salad".

So I figured you fruity ladies would know?

I have been cuddling a baby this morning

Good list, Molly.

TooTicky · 23/04/2009 13:24

There is nothing remotely LOLable about my devotion toUB40.
And yes,I agree that the apple title is damned fine.

have discovered the best type of veggie burger in the world. Rub a portoballo mushroom with a smidge of olive oil and grill.
Delicious with a hint of vegan garlic mayo and a bushel of rocket.

Guadalupe · 23/04/2009 13:37

Wot, no bun?

Salad comes from salt I think, way back, etymologically anyway. And you add a lot of salt or seasonings don't you. Well, I do. Does it just mean something cold with things added to it, unless it is a warm salad but then it is still a cold thing that has been warmed. Who knows.

I had chickpea salad. Again. You would think I would tire of it but no, I crave it. Have also stuffed loads of leftover roast pork, grapes raspberries, shreddies and fruitellas. I have no discipline today.

TooTicky · 23/04/2009 13:57

Yes, a bun. Well, a ciabatta roll. Thought that went without saying.

Guadalupe · 23/04/2009 14:20

I would never assume a bun. I sometimes used to have lamb burger with an aubergine bun. That was quite nice. Messy though, you need a knife and fork.

FrannyandZooey · 23/04/2009 15:17

molly your pirate joke was in the email last week
i did congratulate you at the time

well dot ps did not work out
when i got pram out he said no thanks
so we went in sling and had lunch and went on the swings and bought posh chocolates intead

ah, ds1 home, back later

OP posts:
TooTicky · 23/04/2009 16:58

Guad, please tell me about aubergine buns.

FrannyandZooey · 23/04/2009 17:40

aha! Titles - the main reason I inveigled myself into the fruiters' fold .

I'm thinking Eurovision, although I might be too early as it isn't until the 16 May. But how's about (guys and gals):

Punnet on a String

littlerach · 23/04/2009 17:52

TooT, that sounds lovely (except I don't like mushrooms ) but if I did.

Rice with carrots
peppers
tomatoes

banana

pointydog · 23/04/2009 17:54

superbunny, the next step if going non-milk doesn't work after 6 weeks is:

  1. back to gp, say how eumovate now really irritating her skin
  2. try to get gp to believe that it really isn't that itchy or sore for her at all
  3. get prescription for various emollients again
  4. ask for dermatology referral (we gave up dermatology consultant in disgust when dd2 was nearly 4)
  5. find out what's new on the dermatology front and find out if there's any chance medical science could improve things before high school
pointydog · 23/04/2009 17:56

I have had a terrible day re fruit n veg.

I have had one banana!
(I'm not going to count the mushrooms in my bolognese sauce, I know that would be wrong).

I will be trying to make up for this tonight.

I'll do it Franny. I have an extra child tomorrow anyway.

Punnet on a string is okay but my title is better

ahundredtimes · 23/04/2009 18:14

I like TooT's title, let's keep Pointy's for eurovision week. It made me lol, they both did.

So much eating of vegetables, am I'm not even listing. I had a superfood salad yesterday, was delicious. Was out. Also out tonight - am going to somebody's book club. I think it might be scary and weird. Am practising smiling. Like this

TooTicky · 23/04/2009 18:23

Well I like all of your book, the least you can do is like my title

ahundredtimes · 23/04/2009 18:25

I liked your title. I voted for your title!

See. See. I'm edgy and defensive already. I'll be staring them down at the book club and insisting they explain in full sentences EXACTLY why they have that opinion and then telling them they are WRONG. It's going to be great!

ahundredtimes · 23/04/2009 18:27

I have only just recovered from Boco's dp saying he thought there were too many commas in the book.

TooTicky · 23/04/2009 18:33

Make them write essays on it.

TooTicky · 23/04/2009 18:34

Too many commas? Really? Surely not. That sort of thing usually jumps out at me.

littlerach · 23/04/2009 18:35

A book club where they talk about you book 100?

I htought your book was v good and have recommended it to some friends

I also tried to make dh read it but he can't read reads photography and compltery type books.
