For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Tatties - I don't much like the ear holes either, weird knobbly bits.

SuperBunny · 21/04/2009 03:38

Hummous, Franny? Lots of oil = lots of calories. Not sure what else other than dairy stuff. Olives? Everything that other people suggested. And eggs.

Hope tomorrow is a better day, nicky.

Where's Boco? And Bee? And Wombling? And no Toot again? Hmm

Um

Lettuce
Green Beans
Mushroom soup
ratatouille (toms, onions, celery, courgette, peppers)
Cauli
OJ

Seven, I reckon.

SuperBunny · 21/04/2009 03:44

We need a new title. My rather poor offering is:

Here peas go round the mulberry bush.

I don't really like mulberries. And they grow on trees not bushes.

littlerach · 21/04/2009 09:04

Thinking of yuo Mits and TF.

Am off in a bit. Am shaking

Fran, I dreamt about diaries alst night

nickytwotimes · 21/04/2009 09:58

Hello all.

For the words of encouragement. I am feeling much chirpier today.

Good luck today to everyone with appointments.

TF, I am ttc atm so will hopefully avoid PMT soon and join you in the hormonal hell wonder of pregnancy.

nickytwotimes · 21/04/2009 09:59

Oh, rach.

What time is your appt?

Boco · 21/04/2009 10:07

Good luck anyone with appointments, hope everyone is well.

First day of girls being back at school - well, have to pick up dd2 from nursery in an hour, but still, is a little bit heavenly having the house to myself for a couple of hours.

Franny, dd1 all spine and eyes too, think it's normal at this age. Spine, eyes and gums. She'd outgrown her uniform so bought her one of those gingham summer school dresses and cardigan in age 6-7 and they're HUGE on her, she's gone off to school looking a bit mad with sleeves trailing behind her and long dress. Oh well, she was dead pleased with having new things not hand me downs from tall girl over the road.

FrannyandZooey · 21/04/2009 10:16

have weighed ds1
he is 3 stone
i have the distinct feeling he has been 3 stone for a long time
like, about 2 years
hmmm

nickytwotimes · 21/04/2009 10:18

Has he got plenty of energy, Franny?
If he does, then I wouldn't worry.

Boco · 21/04/2009 10:30

But don't they go from shorter and chunkier to longer and skinnier? DD growing longer but getting skinny - and she eats masses but probably not got heavier for a while.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 21/04/2009 11:39

. the letter was a cunning ruse to get me to the surgery to discuss my mental health...as in.. ''Dear Mrs MitsubishiWarrior, we would like the opportunity to destabilise your world a little bit and if you are not completely stark raving mad now you will be totally bonkers by the time we have finished with you..... ''

So no other results which is apparently a 'good sign' but am going to ring hospital later, yet another infection needing twatty AB's and sense of humour bearing up considerably well under the circumstances.

No time to reply to posts, off to work, to LR and TF.

Blardy fine day up north, makes a girl feel like singing whatever the circumstances.......

My lovely DD made me smile, giving me a sponge down in the bath and said she would be careful of my 'nibules' and 'snorts'(nostrils)..awwwwww...

Guadalupe · 21/04/2009 12:47

How odd, MW. Why would your letter say phone your gp for results if they were going to discuss your mental health? I would be furious. Was the letter not from the colposcopy dept then? Very peculiar. Hope you get your proper letter through soon.

Good luck, littleR.

Franny - boys just are skinny aren't they at this age? If he is a lively as you say and as I've seen in the past then I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. I don't think I have ever weighed the children. I have no idea what they are. DD is quite solid atm though.

About to have salmon and avocado salad. Yum.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 21/04/2009 12:52

Just a quicky ...

Can anyone recommend a non-chemical sun block for Baby Lemur?

Finger crossed for you LR x

Guadalupe · 21/04/2009 12:55

Lavera is pretty good, goes on easily too. Quite pricey of course, well, mainly because they're not ever on offer lke the main ones.

FrannyandZooey · 21/04/2009 13:28

lemur they are mostly a bit dicey afaik
google micronised titanium to read about it - i know it is in the green people one
i am planning to use hat, long sleeves and parasol as much as possible - i am not keen on thought of sun cream on dodgy skin

we just made raw chocolate with agave doodah
ruddy delicious
does it count as one of my 10?
it has nuts in

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/04/2009 13:29

Yes, Lavera, definitely. Totally non-irritant, the only one we have found.

I can vouch for Mits's sense of humour

Franny, I will weigh ds2 later and I can guarantee you will be reassured. He is 7 and a half and has been all spine, eyes and bony feet for years and still has the vitality to spend most of each day climbing doors and random poles.

FrannyandZooey · 21/04/2009 13:31

i think ds1 has got energy
oh i dunno
do they really just get taller and not put weight on? i have a very strong memory of him honestly being 3 stone 2 years ago

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/04/2009 13:31

at raw chocolate. Was it vegan?

FrannyandZooey · 21/04/2009 13:32

i was the same iirc
i just got taller and taller and thinner and thinner
i remember being taken to the doctors so he could examine my ribbiness
and being told to have extract of malt! BLEE

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/04/2009 13:32

M has only got longer in the last 4 years or so. He can happily wear R's trousers and she is not a wide person.

FrannyandZooey · 21/04/2009 13:33

TooT yes you're darned TooTing it was (ha ha see what i did there?)
want the recipe? is fab and easy
GL gave all the ingredients to ds1 as birthday present

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/04/2009 13:33

Oh, sounds fine then, he just gets it from you.

I love extract of malt.

TooTicky · 21/04/2009 13:34

gwan then, might give it a go

TooTicky · 21/04/2009 13:35

rocket (1)

I have decided that rocket is a superfood
