For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Also, when I was an au pair in Brussels looking after an 18 month old girl, the mother's word for teh little girl's fandan was 'ta prune'

pointydog · 15/04/2009 23:46

also,, I am reading hundres's book

SuperBunny · 15/04/2009 23:59

I'm not a prune fan but I do like the occasional dried one. We used to have tinned ones at school. I'd cry on Tuesdays when lunch was Spam Fritters with tinned tomatoes followed by tinned prunes and cold custard

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 16/04/2009 06:53

Pointy...I think I may have just gone OFF prunes lol!

pear,
mango,
orange,
(already).

Ho hum....busy day ahead. Cold here but potential to be bright.

DD is at the hairdressers today and she makes me giggle, she natters away and is fascinated by the whole process. I haven't had my hair cut at the hairdressers for about 13 years. I might save up and treat myself...hmm...have to grow hair first I suppose. Used to have my hair washed just to have my scalp massaged..mmmmmmmm

Has anybody heard from Tiger? I've been thinking about her. I think she had her scan yesterday.

FrannyandZooey · 16/04/2009 09:44

eh?

mollyroger · 16/04/2009 09:56

we thought we had reached the tip of our overdraft and were seriously thinking we'd have to raid kids' piggy banks to get to chritening this weekend.
So poor DH did grovelling phone call to bank, and spent 10 minutes grovelling before they told him, we have loads of money left
Reprieve!!!

Prunes all round!

Guadalupe · 16/04/2009 10:03

Well, I am pounds away from the end of my overdraft but I know full well if I ring the bank they will say exactly that.

I keep logging on and moving tiny amounts from one to another to stop it going over. I get so ANGRY when you are charged stupid amount for going over by a pound.

I think we are going to the park again. The thought makes me lose the will to live tbh. It's like groundhog day.

Guadalupe · 16/04/2009 10:04

One day this week we went three bleedin times though one was to look for a lost snake. Long gone by the time we went back of course.

mollyroger · 16/04/2009 10:11

I am about to make pancakes. Then after that, another chilly, windy, cold, foggy, puposeless day opens beyond us in a yawning chasm of inertia...

I swear, I am not like this when DH is not around. But he can never think of anything to do with the children, and I sort of feel it's his turn to think of something...so we spent hours gazing into space saying: ''what shall we do today then...Dunno. You? Dunno. More tea? Yup...''

womblingalong · 16/04/2009 10:15

Franny,

I am here to address the diary and prune imbalance.

I have a diary for work and home stuff, a calendar at home for home stuff so DH can keep track of what we are doing, and I use the calendar on my mobile phone as a back up/reminder.

I also adore prunes, even tinned ones, warm with warm custard, I haven't had tinned ones for years and years tho.

(Dried apple and dried cherries)

Guadalupe · 16/04/2009 10:20

yuk at prunes with custard, don't you get a leaky inky trail in the custard?

womblingalong · 16/04/2009 10:21

Yes and it's yummy and sweet!
