For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I love to look at rabbits but I'm not sure I'd get them as a pet. I have an irrational fear of being bitten with their big bunny teeth and scratched with their back legs. I think it stems from watching Watership Down when I was too young and being mentally scarred by it

No offence SB!

littlerach · 13/04/2009 08:09

Poor bunny. The dds have named it Timmy Twitch
It is teeny weeny.
We hsave to buy a run for him today.

It is sunny hurrah

ahundredtimes · 13/04/2009 17:52

Hello. We went to Orford Castle last week too! I liked it. And I asked the lady at the castle what those pagoda like things were out in the sea, and she said 'your choice of word is exactly right' and I said 'thank you, what ARE they?' It was Orford Ness.

And we met Boco on the beach one day which was exciting, and she was lovely and so were her dc, and my dc were direct and a bit moany and without trousers but we all survived that and JJ helped dig holes, and then we met more friends on the Friday, and did lots of wholesome Suffolky things and walked along Dunwich Heath but ended up in a BIRD NATURE RESERVE However they were wild and kept their distance so that was okay. Then went to parents for easter.

Now back. With a car full of melted easter eggs.

TigOeufFeet · 13/04/2009 18:18

Evenin' all

Haven't you been quiet today? Are you all out doing wholesome things in the sunshine? We bought some stone chips for the garden earlier and dh is out raking them round a new border... I supervised and then came in for a quick lurk on MN.

I have been given a crutch by the physio for pelvic ishoos - boo - but rather enjoyed using it to sweep all and sundry from before my path at the garden centre. I will make a fabulous grumpy old lady. Does crutch sweeping count as exercise? I do hope so. I am going to end up looking lop sided after a while, half of my pelvis still works so I only need support on one side. My right shoulder muscles are going to be very toned by September whilst my left shoulder withers away

salad (2) already consumed
salad (2 or 3) to follow

I have chopped a lot of salad up today.

littlerach · 13/04/2009 18:30

Birds, 100
How awful.

The rabbit has been in it's run today and is cute as can be.

Broccoli
beans
peas
carrots
strawberries
banana
museli

Isn't the weather glorious?

TigOeufFeet · 13/04/2009 18:32

littlerach · 13/04/2009 19:19

Do you have snow still?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/04/2009 19:20

I think that's my worst list to date

Am flipping knackered tonight, I think it's because we've been busy busy this weekend. We went to Clare today. We walked around the town and the Castle Park, it's a gorgeous little town.

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2009 19:25

how funny, we had marvellous weather all weekend and pretty crap today
didn't rain much though, and we went to local stately home type place where the lady of the house does a (creme) egg and spoon race for the children each year and you can feed the lambs
i got fleeced for a piece of quiche though (utterly outs self to half friends as i moaned to everyone i saw about it)
a thin slice of quiche, crappy iceberg lettuce salad and some crisps
four pound blinking fifty
i was starving all afternoon despite cream tea and creme egg

Yes I cooked a rabbit - it was awful. Won't try it again. Timmy twitch is safe

We had a lovely Easter. DD did an egg hunt in the garden and our cat friend who comes to play with dd came and looked at her eggs. Then we went to ILs for lunch and walked up the field to see the horses and jump in muddy puddles We had to pour mud out of dd's wellies when we got back!!

Good luck with quitting Molly - sorry missed that the other night!

DS has been pigging less today. Phew.

We went to dd's friend's birthday party today. Luckily the weather was nice and all the children played in the garden.

So, list. I had sugar on my porridge instead of raisins I needed a kick start cause I'm really tired and haven't had a lie in all weekend Then possibly about 1 portion at lunch - party food! Few carrots and peppers with hummous and some carrots and toms in salad. Then big salad tonight - carrot, lettuce, cuc, tom, beetroot & chick peas. Pear, pineapple.

I've been in a bit of a f&v rut lately - raisins and oj for breakfast, salad and tomato soup for lunch and peas and carrots for tea - boring! But I've just got a fab recipe magazine from mil's house with loads of veggie recipes and beans/lentils etc. So if my lists don't get a bit more interesting cann I have a kick up the bum please!

SuperBunny · 13/04/2009 19:41

Snow last week, LR, just rain now. Lots of it.

SuperBunny · 13/04/2009 19:43

I remember eating rabbit - we went to france and my mum ordered something and we ate it and afterwards she said, "Oh, that was rabbit"

I'd have eaten it if I'd known what it was but I hate eating something and being told afterwards what it was.

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 13/04/2009 20:11

sultana bran
banana
lots of mini tomatoes
lots of pickled beetroot
potato salad

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 13/04/2009 20:23

It's not that wonderful...
I had been ill for so long, and I was having those 'make a deal with God' conversations with myself at 3 in the morning...

You may all tell me I'm wonderful if I'm still smoke-free in 6 months!

littlerach · 13/04/2009 20:31

Well done Molly.

Am kind of panicing about breast examination tomorrow
Please cross fingers for me.
Am terrified.

FrannyandZooey · 13/04/2009 20:33

rach i hope all is well
have you got any techniques to try to keep calm
it is very hard but actively relaxing is a good idea

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 13/04/2009 20:34

LR I'll have my fingers crossed for you.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 13/04/2009 20:37

Actually...you are wonderful molly for trying. I never smoked but have been around people giving up and know how tough it is....so good for you.

I went to work...through choice....sigh. It was quieter and easier. And then finished painting DS's room and doing curtains which I detest because it is functional and not creative..

Mango,
cauliflower,
papaya,
peas,
beans,
onions, x2
tomatoes, x2
juice.

A walk. By the river and the river bank was covered in anemones, and celandines and ramsons, and the rabbits were at supper and it was calm and serene and so lovely.

LR.......((((((((((())))))))))) thinking of you loads.

mollyroger · 13/04/2009 20:46

oh Rach sweetie, I'll be crossing everything for you. Do you know yogic breathing techniques? Breath in through nose to a count of 4 and breath out through mouth for count of four, Just concentrate on breathing and counting (like giving birth ) gives you something to focus on and the slow breathing will calm you.
