For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I can start to list again now as I can actually move my jaw again now, hurrah!

banana
dried fruit
onion
peas
carrots
green beans
cauliflower
broccoli

Avi - if you suspect a UTI, cranberry juice will help. Does his breath smell foul or sweet?

Boco - I hope your dd is feeling better today.

Franny - I often have raw carrot, cauliflower, cucumber and tomatoes for lunch with a pitta and homous. I find that really helps my veg intake, and as it's raw I'm sure that means extra points

lol at TonyAlmeida's goatee slipping and giving the game away!

I used to heart Tony when he was all clean cut, I don't like the rough TA - he mumbles and seems to be surgically attached to that leather jacket.

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2009 08:38

i don't know who on earth tonyalmeida is
i mean i know who the MN one is
other than that -

avi i don't see any similarity between the secret history and the book we aren't talking about
i never got to page 203 of the secret history, for starters

lemur nice lunch idea
i think the problem is the preparation hoohah
veg do take a bit of work don't they? so i rely on my evening meal for vegness, and dp is usually in charge of it, and he doesn't overload on veg the way i would like to
i will ask him about it

avi when you said bad breath and restless at night, i thought of worms
don't know if that makes any sense though, probably not

He is apparently in some televisual production called 24. Which I have never seen But I do like to keep abreast of popular culture...

I liked The Secret History.

please sned me soothing vibes. Have an appointment with the Head w/r ds2 this afternoon. Luckily for me Dh has been able to rearrange work to go with me which will help me stay focussed rather than crying coming accross as defensive.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/03/2009 08:50

here is Tony. He is in 24. He was a good guy, then he was a bad guy, then he was a good guy disguised as a bad guy. Got it?! If you don't watch 24 you will have no idea what I am wittering on about!

I prepare enough veg for about 3 days and keep it in a tub in the fridge. Get you dp to to prepare more in the evening and put some aside for you. Or, something I do at diiner is don't have potatoes, add another 2 different veg. In my case this tricks dh into thinking he's got a huge plate full of dinner and blinds him to the fact there aren't any potatoes (yes he really is that neanderthal about his hot dinners )

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2009 08:51

hope boco dd is ok
was thinking about you
ds2 is hot again this morning, bit of a shaky start
i had nice day planned with my doula coming over and a childminder for ds1, but both of those are up the swannee for various reasons
better plan something else
???

Good luck Molly, fingers crossed for you. Deep breaths and bite your tongue if you feel the tears coming - it works!

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2009 08:55

tony a sounds very intriguing
lol at "televisual production" you are making me lol a lot, molly
shall we have that quango title? it won't be funny to anyone else without context but will make me laugh

lemur good ideas, thank you
i think veg also take so long to eat don't they? sometimes i feel like i don't have enough time to sit and munch for ages

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2009 08:56

molly, is dh good at these kind of things?

Molly...thinking of you......

mollyroger · 09/03/2009 09:05

oh yes do have a quango as a title, will make me rofl everytime i see it...
People might accuse of being quichey though

Franzo, I have no idea if dh is good at these things - it is the first time he has had to deal with it
But he is terribly eloquent and Good at Meetings.

Avi, hope wee Avi improves.
Hello to everyone else

littlerach · 09/03/2009 09:18

Good Luck Molly.

I watched Australia.
I really liked it A Lot. I would watch it again.
I cried Twice
It is a bit predictable but you can forgive it for that.

(It is also v long, I htink about 2.5 hrs).

Quango is good.

Boco · 09/03/2009 09:23

Good luck with your appointment Molly, hope it goes well.

Had a bad night with dd. I had an epic dream about losing the car in a multi storey car park, spent hours and hours traipsing around each of the hundred levels looking for it, and I'd wake up because dd was crying and coughing, do inhalers, settle her, then fall back to sleep and carry on where I left off searching for this car. Was tedious. It picked up at the end when there were guns and chases. She has inhaler induced madness this morning, she's being a bit bonkers. Still not sure it's an infection at this point as no fever - but certainly getting worse so will probably take her to dr later.

Hope small Avi's thing is resolved, and ds2 is ok Franny.

bad show about the car thievery and dd's coughing, boco. i hope it doesn't get too much worse, good that you're taking her to the doc.

littlerach · 09/03/2009 11:33

Yes, scenery was fabulous to watch.
Historical message? Um, maybe as a sideline

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/03/2009 11:47

Are you in the UK LR? If so, how did you get a copy of Australia? Phwoar at Hugh Jackman!

If dh od's on his inhalers he goes slightly do-lally. Very hyper and his heart races

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2009 13:14

is hair testing bollocks? can anyone find decent links about it?

OP posts:
Boco · 09/03/2009 13:28

I don't know anything about it, but reading up, I'd say be careful. This Which article seems to be saying it wasn't too useful

Boco · 09/03/2009 13:33

And this BBC article has all the types of allergy testing recommending. It says that hair tests have no proven diagnostic value but might be useful to look at the other types and what might help

TigerFeet · 09/03/2009 13:35

How's your ds this morning Avi? I don't want to scare you but dh's diabetes was dx'ed when he was a child, some of his symptoms were similar to what you have described, albeit very extreme, he went into a coma before anyone took him to the docs though . We are always on the lookout for increased thirst/urination in dd alongside breath that smells of pear drops.

Sorry you had a rough night Boco, here's hoping she hasn't got an infection. I had to go on a nebuliser once and it made me very light headed with a racing heart, I think that's normal with salbutamol.

Haven't a clue Franny, sorry

Tomato soup (prob 2 portions)
Orangy bit in jaffa cakes (several)

mollyroger · 09/03/2009 13:37

Banana
grapes
cucumber
plums
Cherries
Butterflies (in stomach)

TigerFeet · 09/03/2009 13:40
Boco · 09/03/2009 13:46

Yes salbutamol always sends her a bit hyper if I've had to multi-dose, and give her lots of puffs at once. She's in such good spirits though, am still hoping it's not an infection. She's such a chirpy girl even when she's not well and not had much sleep, don't know how she does it - wish I could do it too. She's sitting and drawing and chattering non stop about pink crocodiles in love. Have an appointment for 3.30 with the gp.

Good luck Moll.

womblingalong · 09/03/2009 13:55

Arsebiscuits, 100's book has still not arrived, I want to be on p203 too. [petulant]

Fingers crossed Molly

TF, how are you feeling these days?

Boco, Hope DD is ok, sounds so hard and scary dealing with all these episodes, you always seem to manage it so calmly.

Avi, hope DS improves soon.

Franny, you sound very stressed about DS2, is there anything we can do?
