well what can i say, dd 14 mth ,has been limping for 3 weeks, holding her foot funny, been to a&e 3times, my gp, been told 4 different reasons, anyway she was kept in from fri night and is still in,she is back on a drip having antibiotics, had 2 lots of xrays and is having a one scan tomorrow, they think it is a bone infection, she wont put her heal down, and it is swollen, hard, red and hot.she was in hospital around 3 weeks ago with gastroenteritis, and i am pretty sure all this has been caused by the drip she had then (bad hygiene in hospital) but i am also going to demand a mrsa test, as symptoms are VERY similar.

all in all i am disgusted with the whole experience, lack of hygiene, lack of care and help given, they are eing very cagey about actual diagnosis, but i am going to get to the bottom of it all

wish me luck, , anyone else have any similar experiences?

lilsmum - if you are going to make a formal complaint - and you should. Get Lily's notes first - once the complaint is in they will be much more protective of her notes. they still have to let you have them by law but will stall as long as possible IME.

lilsmum · 28/04/2005 15:07

well guys, i have written my complaint letter...11 sides of A4!! so gonna type it up tonight and send it tomorrow, i have spoken to PALS again also rang a medical negligence lawyer for some advice, think i am going to get a 2nd opinion.

OP posts:
BadgerBadger · 28/04/2005 15:23

Hi how's Lilly?

I think I'd be looking for a second opinion too, given all that you've posted.

Really hope things start to move forward for you now.

lilsmum · 28/04/2005 21:13

hey BB, lilly is great she is glad of a reprive from doctors and hospitals for the moment i think lol, thanks for asking

Hope your little dd is feeling better soon. Hospitals can be a drag for the little ones who don't understand what its all about. As for the hospital, ( i've just been reading this thread.) i say go get the buggers!!! this is our childrens health and we must fight for it to be maintained(sp?) in the best possible standards, and getting bone infections froma faulty drip is not meeting those standards....good luck lilsmum, i'll be thinking of you....

lilsmum · 29/04/2005 21:47

god, have just read this whole thread, and i still cant believe everything that has happened, gone on, well gone wrong....if anyone is interested in reading the complaint letter (i know prob boring) then just CAT me and i can email it...that is of course if you are interested enough to want to read my "essay"!! lol

btw the ball has been set off rolloing, the letter was posted today, apparently they have to aknowledge (sp?) the letter within 2 days, and have to reply with a "answer" within 20 days. sounds weird but i am quite looking forward to reading exactly what they have to say about it all.

Hi lilsmum good to hear Lilly is ok. good on you for sending off the complaint. Must have been harrowing to get through .

Thinking of you.

lilsmum · 29/04/2005 23:53

hi BB

it was a complete nightmare to write! took me 3 hrs to write it all down then another 2 to type it all up, but needed doing!! and felt much better once it was all down in black and white and in the post box

i am getting mad thinking about the fact, (which i did sort of accept at the time) that they are leaving lilly till 10th May, what is the point of that? why not just do x-rays and MRI now? i just havent got the energy to fight no more, i know i should...this is my child, but i keep banging my head against a wall with "them"

OP posts:
MarsLady · 29/04/2005 23:57

You have got the energy and you will continue to fight for the gorgeous lil. I won't let you give up. Take a breath then come out swinging.
