For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

in the gym they played this
being hopelessly out of date i hadn't heard it before and my face must have been a picture
outrage "how DARE anyone cover this"
followed by "actually it is quite GOOD"
and lastly LOL at segue into "you just keep me hanging on"
brilliant
i really like it

fairlady oh no! that sort of worry is so horrid

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 21/02/2009 18:29

so shall we start debating titles now?

contenders i am aware of are:

there's a carrot in my kitchen what am i gonna do

gonna wash that mango right out of my hair (i have streamlined this one, hope you don't mind)

the complicated abba one which i can't remember all of it
lemur i think it is good but i hope you don't mind me saying i think it suffers from give peas a mango aubergine artichoke chance syndrome
it is just too complicated
i think we could simplify it and it would be funnier

It was, of course, partly our fault, by not ensuring we have cotact numbers...but I was still very angry with ds for putting me through it!

IT's so awkard really, because he is 12 1/2 and walks to school by himself and goes to town with his mates and goes round his friends house by himself...so, it would be weird asking him to go to teh childminder, too....btu I do sometimes worry he is to young to be on his own. We have an arrangement with our next door neighbours where he can go over to them any time if he needs help or support in any way, and my childminder lives 2 minutes wallking distance...and he could go there any time , too...
but I do feel guilty that we leave him to fend for himself and stuff...and that made it kidna worse...

FrannyandZooey · 21/02/2009 18:31

well hooray it worked out fine - don't torture yourself about it

OP posts:
FairLadyRantALot · 21/02/2009 18:31

like the mango title

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 21/02/2009 19:31

I'm sure you don't leave him to fend for himself FairLady. I was a latch key kid and was very happy to be.

Franny, are you telling me you haven't heard that Mark Ronson song before? It's about 2 years old! I really like it too. The Mark Ronson album full of covers is v good actually.

Had a lovely day here today, the weather was beautiful and baby Lemur was on top form.

How about:

There was something in the pear that night, the starfruits were bright, Fernando?

It took me fecking ages to come up with this title as I have NO imagination. So I will keep wittering on about it until it is used. Oh, and Toot said it MUST be the next title...

banana
oj
dried fruit
olives x2
rocket
squash
apple
pear
grapes
gherkins

An hour and a half walk around the Abbey and town. 10/10 sticker please

Lush bump Pink, and what a great bosom you have too. I love the word bosom, it sounds so mumsy, but in a nice way.

Guad - have you checked out Orwell Furniture in Ips for kitchens? OMG they are to fucking die for. Quite pricey as they are bespoke, but if you know a good joiner it's a great place to get design ideas.

Oh, and I got my crinkle cutter for Baby Lemurs food, and more importantly he rolled today. Hurrah !!!

FrannyandZooey · 21/02/2009 19:42

no lemur it is embarrassing but my grasp of popular culture is somewhat shaky

i am so hungry
waiting for dp to come down from putting ds1 to bed as i am stuck feeding ds2
i have had a kind of epiphany about cereal though
TooT do you hear that, your present has given me a religious experience?
it is a fab snack to fill me up in the evenings and because it is all there ready to eat i am never more than 2 mins away from food
it is ruddy marvellous
what other all in one foods are there that are healthy and don't take any prep? often i just get hungrier and hungrier because i haven't got time to stop and chop things up

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/02/2009 19:52

ooh, religious muesli, you should tell the company

TooTicky · 21/02/2009 19:53

well done baby Lemur

SuperBunny · 21/02/2009 20:05

more museli

mollyroger · 21/02/2009 20:10

my snack food of choice is good old weetabix (with banana or whatever)I had forgotton about its exstance but ds2 has rediscovered it (on school trip!) and we have gone through 48 in under a fortnight...

TooTicky · 21/02/2009 20:21

those ickle weetabix with choc chips in are quite fun, and not too sugary...popular with dcs

SuperBunny · 21/02/2009 20:21

I love weetabix too but they are imported here so are really expensive and therefore only for DS to eat.

My museli envy led me to make my own concoction:

Oats (different sizes)
Rye flakes
Ground almonds
Flaked almonds
Flax seed
Sultanas
Raisins
Dried cranberries
Banana

FrannyandZooey · 21/02/2009 20:26

banana
apple
raisins
baked beans
pinto beans
cabbage
sweet potato
carrots
corn
banana
mixed dried fruit
melon
grapes

= 13

I have a rowing machine...it is fabulous and the answer to my problems when I am not well enopuigh to get out for a proper run or ride and can only manage chunks of exercise.

And I set it up myself, with DD (6)..

Sorry for your stress Fairlady, but relieved for you that it was resolved in the end. I really really believe that he is the right age to be having some independance and responsibility....you seem to have the angles covered. Children can legally be allowed to walk up to 3 miles unattended to secondary school, so I think what you do with him in context is considered and appropriate.

SB...no wonder you are down, I have heard of amazing things being done for various forms, and hope something can be done to ease things for you.

at Baby Lemur rolling......

littlerach · 21/02/2009 20:31

Fran, I often eat cerael for supper when i get in from work at night.

FrayedKnot · 21/02/2009 21:17

Hello

Have had a dreadful headache again today, the 3rd this week

Anyway feeling better tonight. Have tried with f&v, maybe 6 portions. I also made myself clear out the garage even though I was feeling crap.

Fairlady that is worrying.

Pink, lovely pics.

DS has entered the slightly scary world of "playing out" since a child who is a year older has started riding his bike up and down etc.

I feel a bit weird about it, because I feel I need to suddenly start sorting out new boundaries without having properly thought things through.

OsmosisBanana · 21/02/2009 22:29

DEAR GOD MAKE IT STOPPPPPP!!!!!

I am still on my first cabinet. It is broken. I am not the flat pack guru I thought I was.

I am actally shaking (and farting - but maybe for different reasons), I think it must be Time To Stop.

I'm guessing 3 days for Pink in case a sweepstake has begun. That is also my guess for how long it'll be before Guad hurts someone or has sufficient gin been poured?

SuperBunny · 21/02/2009 23:01

Not read whole thread but I have a non F&V related 10/10 revelation: Morrissey is a bit of a twat. I quite like Elbow.

Good luck OB.

SuperBunny · 21/02/2009 23:04

Actually, I have read the whole thread, I forgot

FK, I can't imagine ever letting DS play out. I know I will have to at some point. Must be hard.

OB I am very sorry for your troubles but you are making me rofl

flat packs do induce such terrible murderous thoughts don't they

did you line up all the flanges and bolts and weird metal pieces nicely? did you flip your knuckles painfully with the allen key? did you tighten and untighten repeatedly? did you make up a whole cupboard and then realise it was wrong? have you had a bonfire fantasy yet?

I took Guad's question about jelly nethers seriously and was rather concerned ..what a silly sausage

How was lunch Pink. I'm guessing Feb 28 between 4 and 5 am.

peas
raisins
cooked peppers
raw peppers
cucumber
more raisins
some unidentifiable but nice raw vegetable
cauliflower
carrot
more raisins
and vegetable curry who knows what was in it

twas a buffet

stuffitllama · 22/02/2009 07:56

I can't get the hang of my new oven. My fruit scones are burned on the bottom while my roast potatoes merely sweat.

We're having roast radish and roast onions with the beef. Other veg too but I'm not sure if the children will eat the radish and onions.
