It Ain't Nece-celery So - 10 / 10 thread - with new ADDED FOCUS

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

There is SUNSHINE out there

Lullabyloo · 10/02/2009 13:16

Oh lord it's tooooo early for such talk
shame on you MamaG

have just read all of thread as ds kept having coughing fits last night so went to bed early.
you lot dont half talk a lot

Franny ,close friend issue sounds very complicated & difficult.I'm hopeless at confrontation but also couldn't stand the wondering..so would probably be quite direct in a softly softly kind of indirect way

Oh I am jealous of Guad & Boco
I do so like sailors & dressing up
Steinberg & Tolkien in the Kings Rd usually have amazing vintage stuff..not sure if they still have a website ?

ds determined to go to school today,no call to collect him so far but didn't venture to the gym just in case

mango,passionfruit,banana,raspberry salad
apple
sushi with brown rice, avocado, carrot, pepper, cucumber & sesame seeds.
watercress & rocket
2 teeny baby satsumas

Oh & Bee,I am feeling better than I have done for a long time thankyou
A bit of time to myself & exercising has made me feel stronger & far less tired & feeble

OsmosisBanana · 10/02/2009 13:46

ello

carrots
sweetcorn
aubergine
peppers

4 so far and am making gazillions of feta/potato/grated courgette/spring onion patty things for dinner with some form of warm salsa which will easily be another 4 by itself.

so again a rather lame 8. I was doing better when I wasn't veggie.

Like the sound of the 50's thing. I am going to a burlesque cabaret sans DH. I shall wear my wedding dress. Probably more suitable for a burlesque evening of debauchery than a wedding.

I am deliberating whether to continue with the pointless exercise of giving him anything for Val Day. He never gets me anything (not quite the point I know) and moans about how it is a celebration created by hallmark.

Weiner.

Back from the 'city'.....God I DETEST shopping...

Did manage to find DS a globe for his birthday though.

Does any one want to be my personal shopper?.

It would have been less stresssful and tiring to go to work quite frankly. (My lovely Mum and Dad have paid for me to have a few days off)

Am heading for the hills with a pocketful of fruit and nuts....I may be gone some time.

So glad you are feeling a little better Lully.

This weather is just fabulous though. Am off on thursday as well so am ordering a day like this for then as well....

pollycazalet · 10/02/2009 13:58

I?ve been a 10-AWOL due to hideous work ishooes .

Was my wedding anniversary yesterday and only got home at 9.00, in time to eat and then remember the joy of our special day alone while DH snored gently on the sofa next to me. He had made me a lovely salad though after I phoned him from work to instruct on vegetable portions in a slightly deranged way.

I like the sailor thing. DH and I went to a party once dressed as Chip and Hildy from On the Town. V glamorous.

I only managed 7 yesterday, due to barely eating all day.
Banana
Blueberries
Spinach
Squash
Tomatoes
Red onions
Rocket

Are you all managing to incorporate this phenomenal veg intake into your family meals or do you eat separately from the children? My kids are rather limited in what veg they will eat. Salads are an utter no-go.

Have discovered you need to be super-organised to do this. I keep running out of food.

FairLadyRandySlut · 10/02/2009 14:06

oh Boco....that is funny...and, erm...has happened to me before, lol....

lol at Franny and BBBee....well...you chat as much as you like....I just didn't want to seem completely rude....

Well, all Kids in school and even the little ones are still there....no phonecall to pick them up for x, y or z reason....yippeeh

Hehe, I just re-checked the online-results
site , it still says A+...and I still can not believe it.....

so far for today:
Banana
Adzuki Beans
Chickpeas...

not brill, but I will add to it, don't worry...
this focus thing is good

So...what are you all up too? Are Kids back in school and stuff?

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 10/02/2009 15:17

Oh, lordy, have just been to heaven!!

The tops are still covered in mostly untrodden snow (except by bunnies and foxes),

Feel exhilerated now {grin].

Randy, a big twirly well done hug....how fabulous...I am sure you deserve it!!!....go on, treat yourself.

DD at friends, so now going to have a nice shower and do a lazy tea.....
Turned out to be a good day after all.
Bless my M & D.

So I can paint all day on thursday....yayyyyy!!!!!!

FairLadyRandySlut · 10/02/2009 16:14

yikes Franny, that doesn't sound good at all....

Attila...sounds gorgeous....the local clinic at which I was the past few shifts, has a lovely big panoramic window and there is an area there with grass and bushes...and lots of bunnies and it looked beautyful in the snow....

Lullabyloo · 10/02/2009 16:14

Oh Franny
Do you live very close by?

ds has been awful at school, shouty & rude & bad tempered.
He turned the teachers computer off & lost all her work & spent the whole of lunchtime eating two bites of one sandwich & had no playtime at all.

FairLadyRandySlut · 10/02/2009 16:17

oh no lullaby....

FrannyandZooey · 10/02/2009 16:18

we do but i think it is about as high as it will get now
they have improved the banks a lot lately and i don't think anyone's house is at risk

however my friend who wanted to buy a house up the road said she was having trouble getting insurance

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 10/02/2009 16:18

lully this no playtime thing is just crap
did he do the computer thing on purpose?

OP posts:
Lullabyloo · 10/02/2009 16:28

yes I think he probably did,he has a switch obsession.
The no playtime is really getting to me,it's miserable & he wasn't hungry because he has a heavy cold & has no appetite.

TooTicky · 10/02/2009 16:34

Oh Lully

FairLadyRandySlut · 10/02/2009 16:40

awwww

FrayedKnot · 10/02/2009 16:45

Happy birthday TF!

Satsuma
Grapes
Pineapple
Orange juice

I don;t seem to ahve eaten any veg. Had to have dire "finger buffet" at work thing. Was repulsive so I ate the fruit and cake.

I will join the club re kids that don;t sleep.

DS up for 2 hours yes 2 HOURS last night from 2 until 4. I have brought forth an insomniac into the world, and I need 9 hours a night

FrayedKnot · 10/02/2009 16:46

Lully does DS want to go out to play?

stuffitllama · 10/02/2009 16:50

happy birthday Tiger

Lully what a rotten feeling. Was there something to trigger it?

Two bananas
very peppery salad, no idea what leaves they were
red and yellow peppers
onion
erm erm peas

erm

ugh at not sleeping FK

am going to a parenting class

stuffitllama · 10/02/2009 16:51

Franny your activity for tomorrow is standing by the flood with friends and laying bets on which cars will dare and which will get stuck

stuffitllama · 10/02/2009 16:52

euw -- callous, sorry
