For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes FK they have two lovely play areas & a field- a huge draw & a big part of the reason ds loves school so much as we havn't a garden.
I made him a miniscule lunch of four fairy sized houmus sandwiches & a tiny pot of yoghurt/fruit but he is ridiculously slow at the best of times & today just didn't want to eat.
He hasn't even eaten his fruit or muffin or nuts since he got home.

Lullabyloo · 10/02/2009 16:53

Happy Birthday lovely Tiger x

Lullabyloo · 10/02/2009 16:55

stuffit his behaviour is challenging but he is off colour at the moment & so in a very negative frame of mind.
He refused to do absolutely anything he was asked to do today & was v angry with everyone.

FairLadyRandySlut · 10/02/2009 16:57

lol at stuffit's idea for Franny...you are evil....

Happy Birthday TF!!!!

stuffitllama · 10/02/2009 17:03

Poor old thing and how exhausting for you. When ds1 was little he used to rip himself apart over the tiniest things if he was troubled, sometimes HE didn't know what it was and I could rarely divine it. Hope he has (had?) a nice bath and bedtime.

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 10/02/2009 17:17

Lully, I am so and for you and your DS.

How old is he? Have they NO sensitivity? The little lamb needs support and encouragement....sorry, not my rant but very upset for you.

Lol at stuffit's task for franny!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/02/2009 18:01

Guadalupe · 10/02/2009 18:12

Lully - Mine have been through various different nurseries and not one of them kept the children in at playtime if they hadn't eaten their lunch. Sounds like madness to me.

It's completely counterproductive if a child has behavioural problems. Have you not told them you're unhappy about it? Can't you move him?

Guadalupe · 10/02/2009 18:15

Oh, sorry, is it school?

Well, still. I would insist my child had a playtime of some kind at this age, regardless of what he'd eaten. I would insist he was allowed to leave after a certain time. I asked dd if anyone ever has to wait in and she says no. They leave when they've had enough.

FairLadyRandySlut · 10/02/2009 18:18

wow ILike teachers pet

my updated list so far:
Banana
Adzuki Beans
Chickpeas
Apples
Cherries
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
Peppers

about 8 portions all in all

Boco · 10/02/2009 18:21

dd is a very slow eater and has missed a lot of playtimes, especially in the beginning. When she was particularly stressed about it, I spoke to the teacher and she was given an lunch buddy to wait with her. This had the benefit of speeding her up a bit too, and she wasn't so scared of being left on her own. Are there any older children who would do the same?

Guad did you find a dress?

FrayedKnot · 10/02/2009 18:26

Lully I don;t understand that attitude either. DS started reception in Sept and sometimes comes home with part of his lunch unfinished, so I assume they are allowed to leave after a certain time, or when they say that they have finished.

Carrot, pepper, red onion, cucumber and coriander salad.

Stewed fruit.

Guadalupe · 10/02/2009 18:39

I did find a dress, it's blue and a bit floaty and forgiving about the gut which is always helpful. I looked a complete fright in some of the ones I tried on.

FrayedKnot · 10/02/2009 18:43

Off to gym to do weights and yoga.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/02/2009 18:50

I was supposed to be going to see Vagina Monologues with 2 friends but the ticket buyer stuffed up the tickets so are only two. So I have gracefully bowed out as I am a foul cough anyway, and the birthday girl will be expecting a night of cocktails and stuff before the main event, and actually, I just wnt to go to bed

FrannyandZooey · 10/02/2009 19:30

lemur it has mostly gone, for a wonder
i was getting them twice a week until i started taking lecithin, which definitely helped
apparently it can be too much sat fat in your diet
they had got so infrequent i stopped taking the lecithin - poss another side effect of dairy free
