For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

nor me

TooTicky · 09/02/2009 14:14

Oh OB that sounds crap.

hello Guad. I just poked you on fb in a fit of playfulness

OsmosisBanana · 09/02/2009 14:15

I was doing Diet & Health BSc which is very similar to Nutrition (and the lectureers lump them together) but has a 3 sociology modules over the 3 years instead of 3 more sciencey ones. You can do a lot of nutrition based jobs (ie health promotion campaigns / teaching etc etc) but not actual dietetics.

I would have been doing microbiology anyway, the only difference is an extra catchup module in BioChem. It all sounds ferociously whitecoat orientated which is splendid but quite sick making too.

Seems like a good idea then when you embark on it... hmmm.... Lots of scratching of head and wondering if actually up to the challenge is on the horizon methinks!

But, the more important q is... How long shall I allow DH to wallow for??? It cannae go on forever can it?

OsmosisBanana · 09/02/2009 14:16

Hi TooT, how's it going?

OsmosisBanana · 09/02/2009 14:16

Hi TooT, how's it going?

OsmosisBanana · 09/02/2009 14:16

[impatient] obviously...

TooTicky · 09/02/2009 14:16

Hello OB.
Sort of y'knowish really.

TooTicky · 09/02/2009 14:17

Shout if you want to meet up for a moan. We could compete

OsmosisBanana · 09/02/2009 14:18

God almighty some of the conversations some of these titheads are having around me are amazing.

I know I was prob the same ( and prob still am) but jeez. I wish I could be a teenager again. When your biggest concern is whether to go to pilates or hiphop lessons and which bar to go to afterwards..... Nice.

OsmosisBanana · 09/02/2009 14:19

NO-ONE can out-moan me. You can try, but you will not win. I don't even have that much to moan about really.....

TooTicky · 09/02/2009 14:19

Oh I'm sorry I have to go. Maybe catch you later?

TooTicky · 09/02/2009 14:19

xxxxx

OsmosisBanana · 09/02/2009 14:20

Blimey, I'm gibbering away like a loon. Must be all that nourishing drink I just consumed.

Am tearing myself away now.

Laterz potaterz

pinkspottywellies · 09/02/2009 14:20

OsBa is this a general downness after the burglary?

Boco · 09/02/2009 14:23

OB living with grumpy man sounds very wearing. Sounds like he needs a kick to go and sort himself out and stop being unbearable.

I was looking something up and came across a thread from about 2 years ago when we had another thread split but instead of hugs and sharing it was scrabble causing the rift. We had to annexe scrabble players. I'd forgotten all about that.

Am drawing drawing drawing. Rubbing out, starting again.

TigerFeet · 09/02/2009 14:32

OsBa I did Biochemistry. I have a load of textbooks you could have but they're probably 15 years out of date.

Sounds frustrating Boco

I need to clean dd's room. We have a babysitter coming tonight and I don't want her to think we live in a hovel (even though we do atm). I need some mojo.

littlerach · 09/02/2009 14:50

Well this morning I cleaned under our bed
And hoovered under it

And have managed to fit some of dh's photography gear under.

So that was my exercise

Only just had lunch -
carrots
peppers
tomatoes
mange tout
sweetcorn

Plus muelsi this morning.

And a pear.

womblingalong · 09/02/2009 15:01

Afternoon ,

Have not had brill day on the F&V so far:

Raisins and dried pineapple
Broccoli
Carrots
Apple crumble
Banana

4 prob

Am intending fritata and salad for tea, so hope to bump my total up a bit, also 1 1/2 hrs yoga

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 09/02/2009 15:46

Osba.....how crap....

I hope you are getting something positive out of life in other areas......

You obviously haven't read some of my recent posts, complete and utter whinge bucket .

Toot, no I don't have a hug liscence am a bit of a maverick hugger!!

Boco, are you fairly confidant about promoting yourself? I am contemplating e-mailing my website to loads of galleries but bottle out when I see the work they are already showing...

Try looking at what you are doing in a mirror...you see it in a completely different way.

Lol at 'we had to annexe scrabble players'. Oh my life

Banana,
juice,

oh!
half a dozen liquorice allsorts and three crackers.

Must go and cook tea!

Guadalupe · 09/02/2009 15:46

That sounds much better, OB, presumably you'd still be qualified for community health/nutrition work with dietetics? You have more options this way I guess. It sounds interesting. I have thought I'd like the job of a pediactric dietician since seeing one, but I looked into it and I'd basicly have to go back to school and do access to sciences. All my stuff is arts. I shall live it through you! What was that word Avi used for the building? Vicariously, that was it. I shall train to be a dietician vicariously.

Why is dh wallowing? About the money? Sounds like a big pain.

My food has arrived. Woo hoo. It looks so lovely and wholesome and plentiful. Now where shall I put it?

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 09/02/2009 15:55

In my pantry!!

Guadalupe · 09/02/2009 16:18

No way.

There is a lot of muesli. Much scope for focus I'm hoping, with the addition of a few bits.

Right, off to have ds1's foot redressed. Dh took him to the podiatrist without telling me last week and had his persistant verruca burned off. Poor thing said it was agony and anyway, we could have been referred. At least it's done now. Bazooka is carp.

BBBee · 09/02/2009 16:33

apple (real)
orange juice (real)
tomatoes
carrot
onion
cucumber

loads of slidy about walking along frozen cycle path that made my thighs hurt. That counts surely.

glad you are drawing bocs

We had a school 'disco' on saturday and i was doing tickets and raffle and coats. it was quite stressful. I walked into one of the classrooms looking fraught and my friend said "You okay?" and I shouted back to her over my shoulder "Oh I'm fine, I just had children and it is sometimes a little wearing." it was rather loud and I hadn't checked surrounding company. I got some gasps and some smiles. At school pick up I got some smiles but PTA pollyanna blanked me.

Do you all hate me now?

TooTicky · 09/02/2009 16:36

Bee, you know we will always love you.

BBBee · 09/02/2009 16:38

"I'm throwing my arms around cabbage"

it is not good but it is franny and tatty aimed.
