For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I didn't eat it, I had chicken with pesto and tomato and salad. I served the others boiled new potatoes, corn on the cob and mange-tout. I personally wouldn't have eaten the potatoes with the crispy coating but then I would have eaten cake after so it's simply transposing the carb guilt from one course to the next.

God, I'm hungry. We're having Nigella's mirin glazed salmon tonight, with spring onions, brown rice and purple sprouting broccoli and I would like it ten minutes ago but it's marinading and still a bit frozen.

FairLadyRantALot · 27/01/2009 17:47

OH TF poor you with the ms...not easy to deal with

Lullyby how about a milkshakey drink?

Mr. Avi, happy Birthday...but no Birthday kisses from me, lol....as I am getting a rotten cold.

Well, over the course of the day I have started feeling completely crap... had a stir fry just now (so 2 portions to add to my measely one from this morning)...and am feeling ick now, sigh!

Anyway, I think I am going to have an early night!

pollycazalet · 27/01/2009 17:51

Have been lurking a bit so I know you?re all friendly ? also all the rules about nuts and the pit threat.

Feels a bit like coming late to a party where everyone is a few drinks ahead and you?re still sober though?.. so have on my brightest smile and am proffering a bottle of Blue Nun.

Hello Polly, have you really been lurking? [casual]

Am still in denial that anyone else in the world reads.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/01/2009 18:13

Welcome Polly

I have found you really have to pack the fruit in at breakfast to get the 10 a day.

Lol that you are aware of the pit already

banana
oj
grapes
apple
salad leaves
tomatoes
cucumber
pepper
strawberry jam and dessicated coconut in jam and coconut slice

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/01/2009 18:14

It was homemade though

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 18:15

Me too, Boco. People lurk on my other thread too but I pretend they don't exist. I prefer thinking that I am only talking to the people I can see, not the entire internet.

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 18:16

I Think you get bonus points, lemur

My sister just sent us some 3d cookie cutters so I feel like I should make them but it looks like a bit of a faff [lazy]

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/01/2009 18:17

make cookies, make cookies!!

What are 3d cutters?

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 18:27

You know how you can make 3D xmas trees and snowmen by cutting 2 of them out then slotting them together at right angles? The cookie cutters are like that, with the slots cut in. Like in this picture Looks complicated. they are from lakeland.

pinkspottywellies · 27/01/2009 18:29

Welcome Polly Can you drive?

My Dad bought us a bottle of Pink Champagne when dd was born and said good job it's a girl cause I don't think they do a blue champagne. My step-dad said 'you could've got Blue Nun I suppose'

Apricots, oj, biscuits, tomato soup (it says on the tin that it contains tomatoes - I'm yet to be convinced of the nutritional value but I'm desperate so it's counted for today ), parsnips, carrots, broccoli. And I'm just eating what tesco the local greengrocer's call 'easy-peelers' and is a very sour, tart small orange citrus with lots of pips. Not very nice really

Ironing tonight - although DH just said he'll do it tomorrow cause after actually having quite a good day, I snapped at DD and burst into tears about 2 mins after he got in!! I think I'll sit in front of the TV and iron. (and before you all shout at me, I know - NO IRONING PINK)

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 18:30

Of course, mine will look just as good as the ones in the picture

TinyWhiteFeather · 27/01/2009 18:31

Oh, are we taking our clothes off again

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 18:35

Easy there, TWF!

I want to go for a run

Boco · 27/01/2009 18:36

Speak for yourself feather. I am putting my cagoule back on. [prude]

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 18:40

lol Boco. You might want to put your hood up too.

FrayedKnot · 27/01/2009 18:47

I am halfway between veg curry and yoga.

I have a flicky eye, what's that all about?

And no, I am not winking because you are all naked.

Grapes, apple, pitta with hoummous, leaves & cucumber, veg curry (carrots, parsnips, swede, celery), dhal.

(SB have I spelled it right?)

FrayedKnot · 27/01/2009 18:49

Polly I'm not winking at you either, sorry

FrannyandZooey · 27/01/2009 18:52

ooh polly
hello
this lot don't believe me there are lurkers

we know you're out there

agree you must eat fruit for breakfast, lots, and i also find i can struggle if i don't have at least 1 portion at lunch time

Now. Mr. Avi. Come back here

FrannyandZooey · 27/01/2009 18:53

[beatific]

FrayedKnot · 27/01/2009 18:54

Lully I make DS' lunch fairly carby because with onl;y fruit at break time he gets very hungry.

So sandwiches / wraps, banana and some kind of cake or flapjack.

He still comes home starving, too.

I don;t think the school sound in the least supportive. Did many of them start in Jan?

DS' school spent the whole of the first term actually getting the children settled into the routines. They didn;t start PE until this term, or proper reading books, or anything much.
