For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hurrah for Bbbeee.

BBBee · 25/01/2009 14:28

Toot

Okay - this must be really worrying for you I know. But we don't know what this is do we. It is great that you are going to the docs tomorrow. Would it be worth discussing general stress levels with him / her too whilst you are there?

There are LOTS of reasons for bleeding between periods. You are right that some of them are bad - really bad. But lots of them aren't. Lots of them aren't.

What time is the appointment?

mollyroger · 25/01/2009 14:43

well, by using typing as de-stiffening work, I can say I'm bearing up
I'm a little peeved that DH has devoted 2 entire days to helping our friend move house, leaving me in sole charge of 3 children . I can't say it's demanding exactly, just a bit dull.

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 14:51

10.20.
I am not here. I am washing a bowl.
Sorry for panicking. I will go and panic quietly now.
Thank you.

mollyroger · 25/01/2009 14:53

Stop panicking. Knit something

stuffitllama · 25/01/2009 14:58

all will be cool Toot ..I would worry too
but I'm sure all will be well
x

Tatties · 25/01/2009 15:25

Just quickly scanned last thread, but TooT, did you say it was a tiny amount of blood in discharge? That happens at ovulation sometimes doesn't it? Whereabouts are you in your cycle?

Guadalupe · 25/01/2009 15:42

Well done, Bee. I keep saying well done bee. I think I am becoming a fan.

Toot - I, and others, have answered a few threads recently about bleeding between periods. Obviously the bad thing springs to mind and must be ruled out but it is nearly always something else. It doesn't sound like bleeding, just a bit of blood? Could be a number of things and if you are having pains then it might be an infection. Might be ovulation. You might be peri-menopausal or you have a cervical graze or erosion.

You have all your smear tests and stuff don't you?

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 16:38

I have only ever had one smear. I ignore the letters. You can jump on me now. And say I told you so, whether you did or not. Because you would have done.

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 16:39

I has only ever happened today and once last month.
Finished period about a week ago I think.

BBBee · 25/01/2009 16:44

could it have been over a week ago and this is ovulation?

I am not very good at keeping track.

I am very glad you have the appointment tomorrow - for your own state of mind because I think you are worried.

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 25/01/2009 16:48

No-one is going to jump on you, Toot. Obviously you know it's something you should do but we don't always do what we should.

I hope you will now though, and anyway, it's still more likely to be something else. When you go to your doctor can you speak to her about your anxiety? When you're in a state like this it's easy to see every little thing and catastrophise and think the worst. You can get help with it, Toot. Not just prescription drugs but other help. I found CBT and herbs really useful when I had health anxiety.

Tatties · 25/01/2009 17:06

If your period finished about a week ago then you are probably mid-cycle TooT - so it could be ovulation. I am not trying to explain it away though, I would still mention it to the doc to put your mind at rest. Mid-cycle spotting can also be accompanied by cramps/dull achiness too.

Guadalupe · 25/01/2009 17:12

I used to get mid cycle spotting and quite bad ovulation pains a few years ago. I was often amazed by how uncomfortable it was.

Guadalupe · 25/01/2009 17:17

Well, the garlic chicken goujons are a success! They've just eaten the lot.

I am having pesto chicken, didn't fancy all that fried crackers business. I have eaten one though.

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 17:19

yes, pains as well, but why all of a sudden?

BBBee · 25/01/2009 17:20

hullo tatties!

Guad is this the jamie oliver cooking book again? I think I might get this as it sounds very god.

I know we talk health rather than vanity on here but I really want to lose some weight _ i am sitting here in too tight jeans and it is not nice. I think my problem is carbs - I love the saited feeling they produce.

That recipe boco did - pasta and potato - that was very carby.

OP posts:
BBBee · 25/01/2009 17:21

I think you are anxious toot - when I am anixous my body goes hyper sensitive alert and reacts to things it doesn't normally - I got excema for the first time in my life during my job anxi and the doc said it was stress.

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 25/01/2009 17:22

Yep, it has loads of good stuff in, and simple things like gravy, a really good one.

I am the same, Bee. Have been whinging about it for ages but can't seem to get anywhere with it.

I try and cut own on carbs too but find it hard. No potatoes with inner but just ate a packet of crisps.

mollyroger · 25/01/2009 17:27

well, you could cut carbs, but wholemeal pasta/rice/bread etc is good for you! Obviosuly, piles of masjed potato with cream and butter is not...
1: drink plenty of water inbtween meals - sometimes you think you are hungry when you are dehydrated.
2: Put less food on your plate (it sound obvious but if you are blindfolded, you will eat on average half what is there before you feel full...)
3: Excercise as much as you can - even if it just walking
4: Smoke

Guadalupe · 25/01/2009 17:30

but I do all that, Molly, and it aint working

well, I don't usually smoke I suppose.

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 17:32

you can go a long way just drinking tea (well, herbal infusion) because it keeps you full...
you have to wee endlessly though...
