For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

How the hell are we on a new thread already? No time to read it but must record (as I'm sure you're all dying to know) that last night I had a couple of portions of leaves, a portion of garlic mushrooms and a couple of portions of roasted tomatoes (technically 'toasted' tomatoes as I don't have an oven), which added to the 5 portions of fruit in the morning brings me to 10 for the first time ever

I theng you

I thought that about Obama too Molly - the weight of expectation must be a lot for him to bear.

Toast
More toast
Cheese sandwich

Boco · 21/01/2009 10:05

Toot, I'm sorry about your fingers, that sounds really hard. My experience of cold fingers may be completely different, but maybe I could share some ways I've dealt with it in the past? If you think that might help, I can email you?

littlerach · 21/01/2009 10:06

TooT, if I had that cold fingers I'd have ot chop them off.
Have you spoken about your cold fingers?

Fairlady, I have tried ot add you as friend on FB. Hope it is you else someone will be worried!!!

TinyWhiteFeather · 21/01/2009 10:23

They have some rather delicious custard donuts in the shop next door and thay are weighing heavily on my mind...

And a friend who knows I am not well has just given me a bag of my favourite 'ready meals' that are prepared at a local butchers ....I am overwhelmed.

Yes, for Obama may have made history as the first black president, but he is nevertheless just a man with a huge task ahead of him though and being 'black', may have some bearing on the outcome but only relatively. It is both scary and interesting.

I mean we had our first woman prime-minister and....well I'll keep my opinion to myself on that one.

I like bananas molly but they have to meet my measure of perfection..I do have two mangoes though.

Boco · 21/01/2009 10:27

Tiny how's the painting going? Has the website helped?

MMmmmm custard donuts.

TinyWhiteFeather · 21/01/2009 10:42

Oh, brilliant thank-you. The website is slow but I am spending the first part of the year promoting it so it gets more attention.

An appling to two well established Local exhibitions and a county competition this year.

Try to set myself manageable goals.

What about you Boco? How are things for you.

I want to get some cards made but it is not in my budget at the moment, so I MIGHT try and find time to do them myself as they are usually very popular and I can put website info on the backlol.

littlerach · 21/01/2009 10:44

Custard donuts?

When I was a student, we used ot get custard donuts with coffe icing on the top. OMG, they were so sickly but yum.

Mango, stickers for yuo

choccyp1g · 21/01/2009 10:50

Just visiting to say I LOVE your thread titles, they always make me laugh (except the C-word one). I think this is the best yet. I am ing madly as I type.

mollyroger · 21/01/2009 11:09

I want a custard donut now. How terrible living next door to a bakery....!

TinyWhiteFeather · 21/01/2009 11:18

Oh god, the fruit slices are to die for.....dribbles inelegantly.

Don't think I'd get one through the post though molly ..perhaps I'll have one and think of you

Boco · 21/01/2009 12:35

Things are a bit slow atm Tiny - in that I meant to go steaming into the new year with projects and ideas and plans, but have totally lost momentum. DD2 has just got over her 5th chest infection and I'm really tired. I will need to start again and re-motivate myself. It sounds like you're doing really well.

TinyWhiteFeather · 21/01/2009 13:04

Of course you must be tired and have other things to focus on. I find talking to other people in the Arts very inspirational and motivating so maybe when the time is right you could try that?

I am always happy to waffle on about painting so feel free to e-mail me if you think it would help at all.
Do you have a web site?

MarkStretch · 21/01/2009 13:06

I love this thread title.

Carry on.

FairLadyRantALot · 21/01/2009 13:18

SB...that is shocking...no idea what to do about it, but your poor ds, having his head filled wiht that kind of crap at his dadssomewhere!

Toot, ty, I added you and SB and Littlerach And, gosh, I am very sorry about your fingers getting cold when washing up! That must be a very difficult situation for you! What are the issues there? I mean why is it happening?

Osmosis, decadent is indeed good And hope revision is going o.k.!

Franny like that title you came up with You are so clever!

mollirogers, banana addiction eh...I go through phases like that, it's more often apples than bananas for me!

mango...well done on reaching 10!

Tiny this sentence just made me lol so much :"I like bananas molly but they have to meet my measure of perfection..I do have two mangoes though." My mind is so in teh gutter it isn't funny anymore ....sorry...

Boco, your poor dd? No wonder you are feeling low!

Well, had SW meeting today and lost 2Ibs...yeah...! Yannic had a Specialist Nurse appointment, because of his constipation/witholding/soiling issues and she is happy with the progress. He has gotten much better and whilst he still soils almost daily he now does most of his poos into the toilet and we seem to have found a good level of dosage for the movicol.
As for f&v...erm...about 2 portions made up from onion, tomoto and lettuce...again, not great! But hohum....!
Best finish my homestudy-"project" for this week!

TinyWhiteFeather · 21/01/2009 13:19

Oh, so much for my day going to plan...H has left his banking stuff at home and it has to be sorted today...sigh.
Well if I walk one way that is a good 2 1/2 mile hike so I'll get some fresh air.

I reisted the donut..full of refined crap. Aren't I a good girl. And I STILL haven't bought any new clothes. Maybe I can do this

Thanks for thread title compliments, we are a clever bunch.......gives all a joint pat on the back!!

TinyWhiteFeather · 21/01/2009 13:20

Lololol....fairlady,

I had a mouthful of nuts on the thread earlier and nearly regretted posting that one but I think it escaped notice

Boco · 21/01/2009 13:23

See that Markstretch character? That's my sister. Come in and tell us about your vegetables Mark?

I do have a website, but it's not done yet, lapin is hopefully going to help finish it off. I can show you on fb if you like tiny.

FairLadyRantALot · 21/01/2009 13:23
