For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

You know what I mean though don't you, where the glass is 100 years old and it has gone wavy with the fluidity? People walk past our front room and they go all wonky like in the fairground mirrors.

I was concerned really, I'm just tired.

FairLadyRantALot · 24/01/2009 20:18

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2009 20:19

mollyroger · 24/01/2009 20:20

oh wow, thjat was emailed to me this week!

I loved the mother's letter...

when ds1 was at preschool, he was asked what his parent s did as jobs.

''daddy goes to work to make the money to buy the beer. Mummy sits and reads newspapers all day''

(I was a newspaper sub-editor at the time....)

FairLadyRantALot · 24/01/2009 20:30

oh, should I google tinti...you think it might be something for me....btw...I am blaming my increased f&v intake for my current increased sexdrive

Tiny, I suppose men have thei positives...but right now mine is winding me up a bit, just stupid things like for example this little scenario:
letter from school to say Kids are off on Monday because of Teacher Training Day...letter given ou on Monday/Tuesday.
Picture the following conversation:
Me: Kids are off on Monday, are you working or off?
DH: oh, I think I am off
me: could you please check and let me know!

Well, he didn't say anything, me, I stupididly asumed it meant that he was indeed off.

Looking at his rota Thursday night(it's downloaded on my PC) and realising he is on a long day on Monday (i.e. 7.30am - 10.30 pm) ...

me: erm, why didn't you tell me you were on duty and on a long day on Monday?
him: oh, am I, didn't look...why? does it matter?
me: erm, Kids are off and don't really want cm to have them from 7.30am-5 or 5.30 pm...bit long and all that....
him: oh, I didn't realise?
me: erm, you know I asked you to look at your rota and let me know, like the other day!
him: oh did you

in my head at that time : argh *&^$$"£$&)(_)&$"

well...ya get the drift eh!
GRRRR
rant over

FairLadyRantALot · 24/01/2009 20:32

oh lol molly

Boco · 24/01/2009 20:55

DD1 had her first sleep over party tonight with a friend from school. They went swimming this afternoon, then the mother crimped their hair and they put nail varnish on the friend's dad, and played and had party food. She's only six, so I think she's a bit young, but the family live very close, I know them well, she wanted to go. I just had a phonecall to go and pick her up as she was a bit tearful.

It was really sad. We walked home, her in her pyjamas and duffel coat, pulling her suitcase on wheels behind her, clutching her teddy, doing that holding back tears wobbly chin thing saying 'Amelia said that if I went home she'd never play with me at school or be my friend, but I couldn't help it, it seemed like you were a million miles away and it made me feel sad inside.'

Oh dear. Lesson learned. We've had a big cuddle and we think Amelia will get over it.

FairLadyRantALot · 24/01/2009 21:04

AwwwwBoco, bless her!

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2009 21:07

ohh hiss boo amelia
good on her for knowing it was too much for her and for you for being flexible about it and not cross

OP posts:
Boco · 24/01/2009 21:10

No, I told her before hand that she could change her mind, even if it was the middle of the night and that I wouldn't be at all cross. I remember that awful homesick feeling when you're little, so she knew it would be fine to come home. She's really upset though, I think Amelia was very disappointed and she feels a little out of her depth. She's too small really, but she was sure that it's what she really wanted and has been asking for months.

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2009 21:11

oh,that's sad
it's all learning though isn't it
and is fine to make mistakes

OP posts:
Boco · 24/01/2009 21:13

Yes, that's what we said, that it was very brave of her to give it a try, and brave to ask to come home, and that she can try again when she's a little bigger.

Guadalupe · 24/01/2009 21:14

Oh no! Poor dd, and Amelia I think. She might have been mean but she was probably really disappointed. It's entirely different having your friend stay over in your room [exciting] to staying away at that age.

You are very good to let her try it. DD has begged me and I have said no so far.

FairLadyRantALot · 24/01/2009 21:16

maybe a thread people here can help on...it's about proesteron worries in milk

FairLadyRantALot · 24/01/2009 21:18

oh, I always wanted to live in the olden days...where earing long dresses with wide skirts was fashion....however my weddingdress has taught me, that whilst gorgeous looking...difficult on the loo...lol

SuperBunny · 24/01/2009 21:22

Oh, I went for lunch and you all started chatting.

I had spinch, coleslaw (but no mayo on it), hummus, roasted peppers and congealed cow pus. Actually goat pus.

I want exciting chocolate. I wonder if you can get good vegan choc here - am off to google. I will also have to google flying conchords

Boco, poor DD

Thanks for link, fairlady - how's your placement going?

I love Victorian House and the war one too.

FairLadyRantALot · 24/01/2009 21:27

placement is fab...and I think I have found the perfect patient/client for my case study...he just has to agree to it now, iykwim

TooTicky · 24/01/2009 21:27

oh you have all talked too much and now I can't remember anything

TooTicky · 24/01/2009 21:32

so am going to self-obsessedly update you wrt school meeting...

They sent a letter. Rather an officious one considering they weren't even professional enough to introduce themselves at the meeting and I spent some time working out which one was the head of year and who the other one was. Anyway, if dd1 does not have Perfect Attendance for the next 3 weeks we must provide medical evidence. Considering this was not even mentioned at the meeting, and that I thought it had actually gone mutually well, I feel rather shat upon. It's the attitude.
No wonder people get pissed off with schools.

SuperBunny · 24/01/2009 21:44

am glad, Fairlady

How odd to send you that letter TooT. Especially since it wasn't discussed at the meeting. Were the LEA at the meeting?
