For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I gave cowsmilk up last year....but....soya just really wasn't for me....so, ended up going back to cowsmilk....but at least I am not fooling myself about it's "healthyness"

TooTicky · 07/01/2009 22:20

It's easy peasy Avi
(you too could lose a stone over Christmas )

Guadalupe · 07/01/2009 22:21

I liked rice milk in tea but it often separated and exploded in a fractal of bits.

FairLadyRantALot · 07/01/2009 22:22

...you are full of lovely descriptions tonight, eh...

Guadalupe · 07/01/2009 22:23

Sorry.

It was quite hypnotic if a little unsavoury.

TooTicky · 07/01/2009 22:23

That's why we love her. I have never forgotten her "curly sucky" description relating to belly buttons. So spot on.

Guadalupe · 07/01/2009 22:24

Right, dh wants laptop and it's cold upstairs. Night all.

Right, will freeze peppers, thanks.

Well done OsBa!

Has anyone heard fropm Boco? Was wondering how DD is.

I have freeze dried bananas. Very odd things.

Why are you working so late at night, TWF?

I am having babysitter woes. I need 2 but can't find one. And the one I have who and need to keep ransacked my cupboards today looking for a balloon for DS. He told her it was in a kitchen cupboard so she went through them all, finding my secret stash of cash (stuffed inside a mug at the back), going through my box of drugs (various tryps of prescriprtion meds that I don't really want everyone seeing. Thank goodness I had disposed of unsmoked spliff), unwrapped a gift for DS and I am feeling a bit pissed off.

And she complained that DS was rather bossy. Which is true.

dooneygirl · 08/01/2009 01:06

I think I might be at 10 already.

cranberries
2x spinach (my smallest mixing bowl full)
juice
carrot
1/2 courgette
6x grapes. (I didn't mean to, I kept eating large handfuls every time I walked by the bowl, and I didn't realize a handful was a portion until I finally found the detailed portion thingy)

If not, I still have tostadas for dinner tonight with olives, onions, peppers, kidney beans instead of meat, and homemade guacamole and pico de gallo. And I will be eating a LOT, because even with a giant spinach salad, I'm hungry.

I love how I can't keep up with the thread. With the smells, poo, dairy discussions, drunk knitting, moldies and good marks.

Bunny, where do you find a babysitter to begin with? My mom took them once in January and once in December of last year, and I really don't like leaving them with my best friend, as her DH has some issues I'd rather not have my kids be around.

I have to go the the fruit and veggie place again tomorrow. We seem to be going through them rather quickly.

SuperBunny · 08/01/2009 01:17

Babysitters:

  1. Friends
  2. Someone from my babysitting co=op (I set it up, there are 20 of us)
  3. Students (I live by a big University)

Well done on ten.

TinyWhiteFeather · 08/01/2009 04:14

SB, my day didn't go to plan, and I didn't get much work done (taking DS to hospital, falling asleep). Which means I will have a backlog if I don't get it done.

I don't mind actually, it is a useful way of making the most of insomnia (and I might still get friday off!! Lol )

Listening to fab music and sorting my thoughts out so, am a fairly happy bunny.

dooneygirl · 08/01/2009 04:17

Now there's more than one bunny on here? I'm confused. I guess one is super, and one is fairly happy, and that is how I shall have to tell you apart.

TinyWhiteFeather · 08/01/2009 05:23

Noooo! Happy bunny is just one of those terms we use in our family!!

Sorry dooneygirl. No need to be confused.

Have a one woman disco going here!!

dooneygirl · 08/01/2009 05:29

Disco sounds fun. Too bad I'm going to bed soonish, or I'd join you.

TinyWhiteFeather · 08/01/2009 07:16

I have made the first sacrifice for one of my new year resolutions (debt busting)..... I have..........recycled the Joe Brown sale catalogue...., it was awful, I caught a glimpse of the pretty dresses as the pages fluttered away from me...Waaaaaaiiiiiilllll! .

A whole year, with NO NEW CLOTHES.
Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!

And I have run out of suitcases of clothes that I had put away for when I dieted back into them.

TinyWhiteFeather · 08/01/2009 07:17

I'll be Ok.....don't worry about me.....

TooTicky · 08/01/2009 07:26
