For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

God OsBa that sucks, really it does. I'm so sorry.

And Franny too - I hope your Mum starts to improve. I hate thinking of how old and ill some of my own Mum is becoming I really feel for you.

I'm feeling a bit more restored this afternoon. My car was at the menders so we had a good old walk round. Fresh air is an excellent cure for self-absorbed-blues. We picked up new glasses for DD and is exceptionally proud of them, she kept doing that thing where you keep walking into lamp posts and people because you're admiring yourself in shop windows .

Bought shedloads of fruit today. Now all I have to do is eat it... 10/10 fairly poor thus far today.

I have an avocado. I've had it a while and I think it is now ripe... I'm not massively keen on them but it came in a fruit box that dh got from work and I feel I ought to do something with it... any ideas?

pinkspottywellies · 02/01/2009 18:52

Tiger, eat it. With a spoon.

stuffitllama · 02/01/2009 18:52

Hi Tiger..hope car is ok

I couldn't go to bed and I have an idea (two ideas)
pear, walnut and avocado salad
or (the best) (if you eat meat)
fry up some bacon with mango chutney and green peppers and make a big hot salad with watercress and avocado

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 18:55

I have an avocado too - it needs to be eaten but I can't face it today.

Am glad walking around helped, TF. I should do that more often.

stuffitllama · 02/01/2009 18:55

any news on the job?

pinkspottywellies · 02/01/2009 18:56

There's too many sad things on here this afternoon. I'm nearly crying! OsBa I've fb'd you but Pickledlatte I don't know what to add to your thread but feel very sad for you too. Franny I hope your mum is ok. My step-dad is getting to a stage where a cold knocks him off his feet for a week or two. It's scary Tiger I'm glad you're feeling a bit perkier

I should eat. I don't know what to make. I was going to do chicken fajitas but DH is out so it would be just for me. That's ok though isn't it?

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 18:56

Why can't you go to bed Stuffit?

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 18:56

Yes, fajitas is good for 1. Enjoy!

stuffitllama · 02/01/2009 18:58

fajitas sound great, I wouldn't even cook for just me so well done

not interesting..waiting for a London connection to a photobook we are making for my mum's 70th, have told my sister to text me any time with any problems but I know she won't want to wake me so I'm waiting up

stuffitllama · 02/01/2009 19:01

I notice UK bedtime on mn.. it gets to half past midnight and I think where've they all gone?

into the crepuscular zone

stuffitllama · 02/01/2009 19:02

i am going now
poor dh.. he has to put up with being woken up at the worst moment just after sinking into blissful oblivion

FrannyandZooey · 02/01/2009 19:05

no we haven't seen her
she sounds absolutely dreadful, like she's had a stroke tbh
my dad is looking after her and the doctor says don't expect an improvement till next week she's had it since boxing day
i feel a cow whinging on about my cold but i didn't know - hadn't spoken to her and my dad wouldn't phone unless she was actually dying

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 19:05

Night stuffit

stuffitllama · 02/01/2009 19:06

night bunny, fran, pink
hoping for a better day tomorrow and get well wishes to fran's Mum

FrannyandZooey · 02/01/2009 19:13

thanks stuffit

TooTicky · 02/01/2009 19:14

Oh Franny. Can you visit?

FrannyandZooey · 02/01/2009 19:15

ds2 had some food! kind of
he nicked some from my plate so we let him try to eat it
then i gave him a bananito - you know - those tiny ones
it was very funny watching his face
quite a lot went in
quite a lot came out

TooTicky · 02/01/2009 19:15

exciting stuff....

FrannyandZooey · 02/01/2009 19:16

TooT we could but it would be thought of as v odd and alarmist
obv if she gets bad i will
in the meantime she wouldn't partic want to see us really - she feels so bad - and of course we might get it!

TooTicky · 02/01/2009 19:17

I wondered if that might be the case. Tricky.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/01/2009 19:21

Oh blimey Franny, so sorry to hear about your mum. I hope she's on the mend soon.

My dad is going to be 60 soon, I look at him and think 'how did that happen?' I know 60 isn't old, but it really makes me stop and think.

franny - are you going to do blw with ds2? I'm tempted to give it a go with ds when the time comes.

Tatties · 02/01/2009 19:25

Oh Franny, I do hope everything's ok.
And OsBa - what an awful thing to happen. Thinking of you both

FrannyandZooey · 02/01/2009 19:30

yes he appears to be baby led weaning himself
big biffer
i shall report his f+v intake here along with mine
he is only 5.5 months but was 2 weeks overdue - i am trying to find out best thing to do but it seems with blw if they can sit up, get the food in their mouths and swallow it, then they are likely to be physically ready for food
how old is ds, MoveIt? and where's the link, sb, i need a laugh

tiger - eat it, in a sandwich, with cream cheese and plenty of salt and pepper

FrannyandZooey · 02/01/2009 19:31

i may be scaremongering about my mum btw
i mean she's not in hosp or anything
just she had her hip done this year and she looks OLD and all her siblings are dying - she has big family but half of them died last year
