For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

boco cross posts
do you think the sores are from being run down? or something new?
i am so sorry
i wish we could do something or at least get some answers for you

Boco · 11/12/2008 10:10

Tricky about the window cleaner. Is disappointing isn't it. All you can do is be clear about what you think and dismissive of what he thinks. I had this with someone I was doing some work for, I really liked her, but her views were so shocking that it was very confusing.

Don't know what the sores are, maybe just having this and being run down. One of them keeps bleeding. I guess it's common isn't it, just E not had it.

mangolassi · 11/12/2008 10:19

Oh Boco, you poor thing. How do you feel about phoning the hospital now? I think I would, tbh, if I could face it anyway.

I'm in Thailand. It's colder than you'd think. Can't think of anything to say about it just now.

Franny, I think it's very unfair of racists to be attractive do martial arts and horses and things. They should all look like Benny Hill, and be offensive the first time you meet them. Much less confusing.

mangolassi · 11/12/2008 10:21

Oh crap, not do horses, obviously. Do horsey things. Or something.

Boco · 11/12/2008 10:29

If racists did horses at least they'd be immediately identifiable and not marry or procreate. But I would feel very sorry for the horses.

Thailand - wow! How exciting - would love to hear about it some time.

littlerach · 11/12/2008 12:42

@ horses

Boco, my friend gets sores round her mouth when she is run down.
She uses Vit C to help.
Also, has E tried those little milk drinks, yakult or something, that are supposed ot help when you've ahd ABs?

I have wrapped all the girls presents now - hurrah!
Achey hand and back though!

Homemade veg soup (carrots, onion, leek and celery).

Franny, your lunch sounded amazing

Guadalupe · 11/12/2008 12:56

I know you don't believe it, Boco, but homeopathically skin sores such as impetito are connected to the lungs, it's meant to be 'coming out'. DD always gets sores when her lungs are bad but then someone else would say it's just a sign of reduced immunity. Whatever it is they'll be sore. If you can avoid AB cream then do, but watch out for it turning yellowish.

Sorry, Mou. I couldn't resist it.

I am feeling quite sprightly today which is surprising as I haven't eaten yet. I can't decide what I want.

Lol at window cleaner, Franny, we have some stranguns, now we have one that carbon offsets and put a nice quote for the week on the back of his ticket as well as telling us what he does with his waste water. Not sure which is worse.

Boco · 11/12/2008 13:18

lol at 'i know you don't believe it'. No, sounds like dark magic to me, you pagan type. I've just put antibiotic cream on but they were bleeding and thought it might get infected.

I guess it makes sense though - as eczema often goes with asthma doesn't it.

I have eaten obscene amounts of dolcelatte. I can't stop. On cornbread roll with tomatoes, then on crackers, and then just neat from the packet in the manner of a dangerous cheese freak.

Tomatoes.

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 13:36

LOL at "I think it's very unfair of racists to be attractive do martial arts and horses and things"
you have summed up my dilemma in a nutshell
we checked that bnp list thing when it came out and i thought "oh god what will i do if he is on it??? "
luckily he wasn't
but beryl from no 43 round the corner - [anger]

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 13:41

boco thank you for saying that about my diet
it is very encouraging
i have been trying to focus on it and although i am not getting much sleep etc i usually feel ok
and tempting fate hideously here, have not yet had the dreadful lurgies that are going around

sorry is lurgy one of those really annoying words like blouse? i think it may be

window cleaner come and gone without recourse to burning crosses etc
shook ds1's hand with a big ol dirty palm and then sneered at ds1 when he looked a bit nervous
of course now everything he does is hideous when before it would have been excitingly unreconstructed

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 13:43

have put up the tree - tick
made christmas spice biscuits - tick
talked to myself on MN like a twat - tick

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 11/12/2008 13:45

Beryl from round the corner? Oooh I say, have you seen her since you looked? Did she leave a faint wisp of tutting and intolerance in her wake? I looked briefly but didn't recognise anyone. In fact there seemed to be hardly anyone from Norfolk which I find amazing tbh.

Boco - yes, what you ought to do is spin her round three times while calling the energy of, um, the wind? Then ask it to breathe its special powers while, um, connecting to the earth or something.

I still haven't eaten. I want dolcelatte. I don't have any. I have pink cheddar though.

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 13:49

we don't actually know beryl
we just saw her name and address on there
i think dp felt a bit vigilante but then just had another cup of tea and calmed down

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 11/12/2008 13:50

Pink cheddar on carrot and hazelnut rye bread toast with red onions and chutney, that's what I'll have. I just realised I want something warm. I didn't eat bread for so long I've forgotten about cheese on toast.

Guadalupe · 11/12/2008 13:51

Yes, tea good for that. I might have some chai in a minute. It's freezing here.

Boco · 11/12/2008 13:59

Yes I also find tea calms my vigilante feelings. Glance at pitchfork, glance at kettle, pause - put on kettle, ten minutes later it's all blown over.

My mum has given dd that healing blanket guad. This morning E was asleep on the sofa and dd1 ran upstairs to get it and draped it over her and said 'mummy, make sure she keeps the healing blanket on her!'. Granny will be teaching them chakra reading any minute, i know it.

TooTicky · 11/12/2008 14:07

I thought I knew what dolcelatte was until Boco ate it with tomatoes. Is it not a creamy coffee pudding? [dunce vegan]

Ds2 starting to perk a little. He is opening one eye now and has laughed a little. It was hellish removing the dressing this morning, they use such bastardly sticky tape to hold it on, right up his forehead and down his cheek and on some of his hair.

Dd2 had a flood at playgroup this morning and they changed her clothes; I fear I will get high on the washing product fumes coming off the trousers.

TooTicky · 11/12/2008 14:09

Boco, you won't want to know about the suppression of skin symptoms leading to chest problems. I think MrsC is right about it "coming out" on her skin, could be the start of an improvement? I would avoid the cream as much as poss xxxxx

SuperBunny · 11/12/2008 14:45

Mroning all,

Boco, when my sister had sores round her mouth, it was a vit B deficiency. Easily solved with supplements and marmite (although that is hard to eat when you have sores)

LOL @ window cleaner doing horses

Franny's lunch sounds delicious. No food here yet but i did have 5 bananas yesterday

Dolcelatte is blue Cheese, Toot.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 11/12/2008 14:48

Hi Toot,

hugs to all poor baby veggers

I am feeling better today but have horrible feeling tis the calm before ths storm.
Am cynically unwilling to believe that yesterday's marathon honey, lemon, ginger, cayenne and honeygar drinking session has actually worked

today, carrot nd lentil soup, grapes, clemintine, plums and home made fruit cake. Plus a gallon of afore-mentioned evil brew....

DH is now il and of course, he is a man, so if far more ill than I am.

Franny, a really sweet new mum I met was on the BNP list

SmilesLikeNoOther · 11/12/2008 16:12

Blows Guad a kiss...

Sores sound like my DS's mouth when he is run down and we keep changing how we treat it as nothing seems to work for long. As if she hasn't been through enough, poor baby.

and Lol with Franny, It has been said about me. Not the smartest cookie in the cookie jar eh? Glad it made you smile if nothing else.

Toot. Hope things are progressing in the right direction.

Franny, Can you make window cleaners views part of the banter... 'I can't believe a smart guy like yourself would hold such neanderthal views' sort of thing. Keep it light but keep your views clear.

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 16:26

mou i think you are on to something there
i never know what to say and either keep quiet from embarrassment or blurt out something that sounds really naive
anyway
over for another month or two, phew

btw sorry was not meaning to say you were being stupid! just a bit of a running joke that no-one believes there are lurkers on this thread and there SO ARE
it is nice to feel like we are just having a private conversation though, let's pretend it is true and there are only veggers here

fmf noooooo at nice new mum
hope you feel better, i think i may be getting something now (2 hours after posting how i have stayed healthy )

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 16:27

btw i am going to moan here that this week's competitions are not fair on home edders

SmilesLikeNoOther · 11/12/2008 16:31

Franny..I didn't think you were implying anything of the sort but I seem to have a reputation for having a simplistic view of life (in RL). It is me and I don't mind, And I like making people laugh one way or another.
