For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

SmilesLikeNoOther · 10/12/2008 16:18

DS is telling all his mates about my website . I hadn't thought about people I know looking at it!

Guadalupe · 10/12/2008 16:18

You don't drink it neat do you?!

SmilesLikeNoOther · 10/12/2008 16:22

SuperBunny · 10/12/2008 18:02

Boco

Thinking of you, Toot

@ rainbow and more at leaking rainbow. If I were artistic, that could be a lovely painting.

I like that we have 2 Evies on here. Very pretty name.

I'm going to only eat F&V for the rest of the week. No other food. Maybe nuts. And Tea.

Lunch = veg soup. 2 portions, maybe 3.

SuperBunny · 10/12/2008 18:03

Why are you all drinking vineagar? You must all smell like a chippy.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 10/12/2008 18:39

Lol at smelling like a chippy.
Apparently vinegar (esp cider apple vinegar) has strong medicinal qualities.

From a pain point of view it is supposed to address the acidity level in your system which, if out of balance acts as a toxin. (or something like that).

FrayedKnot · 10/12/2008 20:10

Hello

TooT hope everything went OK today

Boco, sorry to hear E is ill yet again. Hope you have a better night tonight.

FrayedKnot · 10/12/2008 21:14

Oh DS made me laugh today

I said "why are you so disgruntled and grumpy, DS?" (he was having a moment) and he said

"Don;t say that word...dis..dis...disthingie Mummy, it's a SQUARE word!"

Turns out a square word is a rude word "like poo"

TooTicky · 10/12/2008 23:01

Hello everybody.

Boco, so sorry Evie is unwell again!!!!

We got back shortly before 9
Ds2 was v. sleepy so I had to leave him while I went to get the car from park and ride place then drive THROUGH CENTRAL BRISTOL IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND ACTUALLY GET TO THE EYE HOSPITAL and I did it. Then I had to park on double yellow lines but it was okay.
THEN we were on our way back and I was in the right lane despite all odds, then they cunningly labelled my lane "car park" just for fun so I panicked and changed lanes and then there was another sign which said, "Ha ha, you were actually in the right lane but now it's too late and you'll have to go on the motorway you gullible fool!". Or something like that. So we did.
So, cataract removed, hard lens fitted, boy moderately miserable and hallucinating apparently.
"Ds2, shall I take you up to bed now?"
"No, I'm listening to the news."
[puzzled] "Now?"
"Yes, it's inside my head. This is the only place I can get the signal."

It only lasted a few minutes.

Sorry, I have essayed!

Franny, I am going to reply to your email, I just haven't done yet.

I think I should probably sleep a little, I have an extra child tomorrow.

xxxxx

TooTicky · 10/12/2008 23:02

Oh fmf, I hope you feel all better tomorrow!!
Thanks for hug
Sorry for wobbling

SmilesLikeNoOther · 10/12/2008 23:31

Toot, I am so glad that it is done, even though it was so stressful, and well done on the driving, as if you hadn't been through enough {{{{{healing vibes}}}}} to DS1.

Franny, could you do a thread under a completely different name and put a link on here? Nobody else then knows who you are or what you are really talking about, but people on this thread. But be cleverer than me with your namechanging because I always bollox it up-- make a mess of it. If not I hope you get the support you need, and though you and I aren't that well 'aquainted', my e-mail is open if you just need to offload. And please accept a hug xx

SuperBunny · 11/12/2008 01:07

I have white vinegar. I wonder if that would work? Although the only pain I am currently in is dermatitis and I will not be using vinegar for that!

LOL @ FKs square word! I was singing along to Frank & Nancy's Something Stupid today and DS glared at me, sighed and said, ""Mummy, please don't say stupid. It's not nice"

Toot, I hate when roads tell you to do something but mean something else. Hope DS2 stops listening to the news soon. Hope he is ok. And you, too.

Hope you are okay, Franny.

Apple, Banana (2), grapes (many), veg soup (2) so about 7. Hooray.

SuperBunny · 11/12/2008 01:08

To be clear, do you actually drink the vinegar? And, how much? Are we talking glasses of or just teaspoons?

SmilesLikeNoOther · 11/12/2008 07:36

Don't ask me SB, Apparently I have been doing it wrong . But you do drink it
something like this

SmilesLikeNoOther · 11/12/2008 07:45

The yurt/village hall is bathed in the light of a roaring log fire and the gentle glow of scented candles. Soft soothing music plays quietly in the background and a huge bowl of fruits from around the world sits in the centre.
Chairs and sofas are adorned with freshly plumped cushions and the softest furry throws, a kind nanny awaits to calm agitated LO's. A large pot of tea, and slices of home-made cake are there for all in need of refreshment.

Come in tired and stressed veggers and take refuge from the trials of daily life. Sit awhile in good company, have a hug, forget just for a moment all worries, and heal tired minds, bodies and souls....

A good day to all.....{hugs} and xxx.

littlerach · 11/12/2008 09:06

Oh, Smiles, that sounds so good.

I fear I have nits
Or just an itchy head

Bugger.

Perhaps there could be a nit nurse in the yurt/hall??

You have made me laugh re vinegar and dilution.

TooT, you are so brave, I could not drive through Brssle. And motorways too

Fran, do offload, it is okay, we will be nice and pat your arm and say comforting htings. What is it about the windowcleaner?

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 09:12

LOL at being able to name change and link on here and that no-one except veggers will read it
I mean REALLY lolol
bless your innocence

right f+v for yesterday
actually not bad even though I ate out twice (seems v hard to get a 10 / 10 type meal out isn't it?)
apple banana pear raisins
fab vegetarian mezze plate which was for 2 people and I shared with ds1 and there was loads
it had cucumber, carrot and pepper sticks, 3 dips, hummus, felafel, peppers stuffed with cream cheese, mozzarella balls, olives, s d tomatoes, really nice soft breadsticks, in fact it was like my christmas lunch sort of thing
and this was in a chain pub! i was impressed
pudding had some berries with it
which i dropped on ds2's leg and everyone thought he was bleeding

dinner at friend's house had salad with it
and lots of berries for pudding
am berried up

oh
i also had another dinner
in between lunch and the one at my friend's house
well i thought i might get hungry, how do people not eat until 8.30 kind of thing?
so there was also a lot of kale and some sweetcorn
and ds1 and i drunk the water the kale was cooked in, which sounds revolting, but i really craved it and it was delicious
and sort of blue

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 09:27

AND i went to the gym and saw p trainer who did weight and measurements
i said just do the measurements don't tell me what they are
and he kept doing them and going "72!" or whatever "oh sorry, sorry, sorry....ok now your right leg...66! oh sorry, sorry, sorry about that" LOLOL

OP posts:
mangolassi · 11/12/2008 09:31

mmm, I like the lighting too.

Wow, there's a lot going on.

Boco - so sorry about Evie, sounds an impossible decision to make. I read somewhere about very salty sweat being an indicator of CF, I can't remember the connection though. Hope you did just lay on sofa last night and she's a bit better this morning.

And TooT - they do cataract surgery as an out-patients procedure? Am impressed, I had no idea. How long is the recovery time supposed to be? Hope he's doing better

Aah, I'm hopelessly behind as usual, it's the time-difference.

We got a new fridge today, I'm inordinately happy about it - separate fridge and freezer doors, and the fridge is on top. For some reason we keep the baby tylenol equivalent and chocolate in the fridge, which worked fine til dd got big enough to open the fridge door and reach the top shelf. This is going to inspire me to cook loads and freeze stuff, I'm sure.

Boco · 11/12/2008 09:50

What country are you in Mango? Sorry i missed that bit.

Franny your diet is amazing. I've stopped mentioning food.

Toot you're so brave! Am stunned at the driving on motorways and through rush hour city, very clever. Hope ds is better today.

Where is Bee? I miss her, she's not been around for ages.

E no better, actually worse as she's now got 101 temperature. And is asleep. Another bad night but somehow I ended up in her bed and she was in mine. She has sores all round her mouth, why is that? Looks awful.

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2008 09:56

oh the window cleaner
am desperately hoping when i list my shitty little trials that it will distract you from your proper big problems and not just make you go SHUT UP FRANNY

well the window cleaner and i have this chequered history
he is very charming and all that and he plays the guitar and wears cut off denim shorts
harrumph
and does things with poles to my windows and rides horses and does martial arts and is generally very manly and pleasing to have drop in on one once a month
and we always used to have a good flirt chat and dp thought it was funny and a good time was had by all

HOWEVER
about 6 months ago he started talking about immigration and muslims and oh god i can't even face thinking about it
i was quite shocked and told him we didn't feel the same way and we have lots of friends from different countries and we like it that way blah blah blah
anyway no dice
so since then I have been trying to avoid him
with mixed success
and it is very awkward as he partly comes to have a chat with me - we aren;t actually in his area and he makes a special visit to come
anyway i have to stay in today as i have loads to do
and last night when i was out he phoned dp and said "can i come tomorrow" and dp said 'yes' aaaaaaaaaaaaargh

so there
the highly edifying and trivial story of the window cleaner
