For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I never use mine, maybe I could buy him a red cover for it and see if he notices.

He has a very good present. And he will like it. I just don't want him to be secretly hoping for a nano shaped package on christmas morning. Can you remember checking out your present and leaving the one you thought looked most hearts-desire present shaped until last and then it turns out to be Mr Potato head? I know Mr Potato head is great, I got one for dd this year but you try so hard not to be disppointed and you can't.

I will make it very clear that he must save up for it. He might manage by the summer.

TooTicky · 07/12/2008 12:00

That's whales, not ewhales, although they sound interesting

Guadalupe · 07/12/2008 12:01

Lol at the badger. What did he get that year?

TooTicky · 07/12/2008 12:03

Tbh, I used to get so many presents (just my mum and me and she used to spend the entire year accumulatinbg things I think - lots of 2nd hand and books though so not extravagant) that I used to start feeling quite ill towards the end and wish there were no more
I know what you mean about the disappointment over certain items though.

TooTicky · 07/12/2008 12:04

Um, probably something badger-related. It was a recurruing theme for several years.

TooTicky · 07/12/2008 12:09

I sound like a very ungrateful person don't I it's hard to explain how it was.

Guadalupe · 07/12/2008 12:26

You don't sound ungrateful. There's only so much present opening to be done before it gets boring I think. A few nice things is much better. My mother is always incredulous that we haven't opened everything by the afternoon as if we are oddballs but it's nice to appreciate things and take your time.

She is drunk by midday on something revolting like baileys or blue curacao anyway. A chicken may appear some time towards the evening amidst the chaos. Dh's was the opposite, all stiff champagne reception at eleven, lunch promt at one to watch the queen's speech by three with port. We are somwhere between the two.

Anyway, we are going out to the woods now. Have a nice day.

TooTicky · 07/12/2008 12:37

Do you do Christmas day sans grandparents then?

Enjoy the woods. I quite fancy an excursion myself. I wonder if the canal is frozen....

SuperBunny · 07/12/2008 13:39

7:30 on Sinday morning, I am totally child-free yet I am up

I like Toot's DS2 lists, especially Bill Oddie. I think my Dad met him. Aren't they bringing back Jim'll Fix it? I used to get tons for christmas and although I was very grateful, I would much prefer DS to have 1 or 2 lovely meaningful gifts than piles of rubbish.

Enjoy the woods/ canal/ whatever you are all doing

SuperBunny · 07/12/2008 13:42

Sunday not Sinday. Unless sin referrs to Nutella in which case it most definitely is Sinday

PrancerDancerCupidFMVixen · 07/12/2008 13:43

morning! Ate loads of veg yesterday - have had baked banes and a tomato this morning...
My sister who resembeles a teletubbby, had purchased a million really scary 'party food starter' things from Aldi for dinner yesterday and everyone was tucking into these horrendous refomred 'meat' skewery things.
Even the prawn ones were the wrong colour and texture for prawns.
And everyone asked me why I wasn't eating them and I didn't want to be rude and say ''I'd rather eat my own faeces - because I know exactly what's gone into that and frankly, it smells better...''''

FrannyandZooey · 07/12/2008 14:00

FMF i do like your christmas name as usual I can't think of one

I am clearing out ds1's room
my word he has a lot of crap stuff

i got all revved up earlier to phone my mum and ask her if she could start pronouncing ds2's name the way it is meant to be pronounced
i try to ignore it but she left an answerphone message with it on and it was really, really clear she was saying it the 'other' way, so I thought I would tackle it (hopefully for once and for all)

so when I called she was out

any ideas as best way to say it?
she will get the huff probably

SuperBunny · 07/12/2008 14:04

lol @ homemade faeces skewers

No idea re phone call. Why is she still saying it wrong anyway? I can understand it the first time you see his name but she must have heard you say it correctly countless times. I get very annoyed about names being mispronounced. Can you just say, "his name is X not Y" or is that too rude?

Tatties · 07/12/2008 15:35

Hello veggers, found you

Went for a lovely invigorating walk in the cold earlier, all wrapped up. Now the boys have gone back out again and I am supposed to be getting Christmas shopping done online... Feeling rather disorganised...

SmilesLikeNoOther · 07/12/2008 15:38

I get that a bit with my name franny, i don't massively mind but if I say to people that it is a/ rather than b/, they will apologise and say 'sorry b/!?
At least it is not my family though.

Lol at skewers fmv,

Glad to hear you had a good night SB....Would depend on who was dressed
as santa as to whether or not I would sit on his knee.

Might just join face-book, if I can work out how to do it. Like the sound of a game of scrabble.

Can I join the queue to be walloped

Doing housework, everybody else has fallen out again.

No wonder I like bloody mondays.

Am personally very chirpy though .
Not sure why, I just have a bubble of inner contentment. Christmas projects in order, two paintings on the go, running steady, picking up on meditation, dietcoke f&v consumption satisfactory.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 07/12/2008 15:39

My, that was a winky post....

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 07/12/2008 15:45

it was, wasn't it.
Have readjusted my name as the pedant in me was irritated. This is correct order now.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 07/12/2008 15:47

I went for a run and a group of mountain bikers overtook me on the flat.

I turned to go up a long slow incline and they were there and decided to pace myself to them, but realised I was catching up with them. I not only caught up with them but overtook two of them!!!!!!!!

Smug smiles

SmilesLikeNoOther · 07/12/2008 15:50

Hi FMV, I was just signing off...
catch you later.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 07/12/2008 15:53

I'm taking a wee break as dh and I both started huge big clear-out and room organising projects. I am now regretting it as whole house is chaos and I am knackered.
Who knew I had so many pairs of crap shoes???

SuperBunny · 07/12/2008 16:12

Oh crap shoes! I must throw mine out!

Run sounds good mou. I am contemplating one myself.

Soup on hob. Mess everywhere.

TooTicky · 07/12/2008 16:32

Tatties
Good to see you!

Have been to frozen canal and boys bashed it. Ds2 got v. v. cold and wanted to go home and ds1 said it would be no fun without him and bribed him to carry on

Guadalupe · 07/12/2008 16:33

Toot - dh's parents are dead now and my mother would prefer to see us on boxing day because it's 'just easier' even though I did invite them all here for lunch.

Was your canal frozen? The lake was where we walked. I thought dh had chosen an incredibly boring route across a neverending flat field but when we finally turned off it there was a beautiful village with a hall and lake and mists rising over cottages and geese etc. It made me want to live in the country again.

We chose pork from the farm shop. Does anyone else get their crackling right first time? I have to peel it off and crisp it afterwards. This looked a bit offputting as there were still a lot of hairs on it but I am assured this is better as when the hair is gone it has been burned off with some horrible chemical. I'm sure it will disappear in the oven. We are having it with thyme and sage root veg, pumpkin, swede, butternut, parsnips, potatoes and carrots and fennel cabbage with cider gravy. I better get on with it.

Guadalupe · 07/12/2008 16:34

Ooh, I missed Tatties too. Hello.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 07/12/2008 16:37

guad that sounds incredibly delicious....

We are havingf baked gammon with roasted stuff and cheese sauce. Better gone with it too
