For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Thank you. He has managed to wing a day off school, well, he does have a bit of a cough.

He is playing his guitar in his new trainers and t-shirt, eating croissants and generally looking pleased with himself.

filthymindedvixen · 20/11/2008 14:02

oh Please give our love to to your funny, handsome, gorgeous big boy Guad....!!!

I don't have an off button mango....so I sort of relax on the go, but it does catch up with me. Just need sleep(waaaiiiilll!). You are not intruding, I think I need all members of this thread to sit on top of me for a week!
So, we are all at yours for mangoes in april then...

Wow!, 11 Guad, it's stunning is it not. ( it will be if mine makes it to 11 ).

I am not really here today as I have some 'VERY IMPORTANT JOBS',(shitty paperwork) to do, but a tea break was in order.

Only eaten F& V today so far and a handful of nuts and am mighty pleased with myself.(smug emoticon).

Ta ta!, rustles paperwork and pushes glasses to end of nose with an intelligent air.

pinkspottywellies · 20/11/2008 17:11

Hello. I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!! I've been lurking a bit but not posting from my dad's computer (just in case)!

Had a very exhausting 'break'. Had to go back to bed this morning cause I thought I might crash the car otherwise. Anyway. Home now. And I'm going to join a choir tonight!

F&V this week. 10 probably. But it's Thursday so not that impressive!

pinkspottywellies · 20/11/2008 17:13

Oh stuffit I see you're going to choir too!

stuffitllama · 20/11/2008 18:09

hi all, Hi PINK! hope choir practice was wonderful. I actually burst into tears at mine during "Do you Hear what I hear" as the harmonies are so moving. Well not burst but a tear did roll down and I had to mime for a bit.

Happy Birthday to Guadster!

Mou you are madly energetic. Is it the F&V or are you the same if you just eat pies? I'm

F&V: more spicy brussels, tomatoes, carrots and beans, quite a lot, have probably done six today, plus some really nice veggie wraps and some deeply unhealthy but delicious deep fried veg and paneer.

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2008 18:21

am of choirs
a friend of mine wanted to have an affair and i told her she should join a choir instead
god i missed my vocation there i should be in marriage counselling
she was unimpressed for some reason

right old skool veggers don't forget we are having reunion tonight
have not started thread yet but will shortly
xx

TooTicky · 20/11/2008 18:26

Dear MangoLassi,
Thank you for your kind invitation. If I somehow develop some wealth before April I would love to come and eat mangoes with you. The mango/rice/coconut thing sounds heavenly. I bet you have proper sunshine too .
Yours most sincerely,
TooT

stuffitllama · 20/11/2008 18:43

Toot: London: Delhi: Bangkok.
You know it makes sense

stuffitllama · 20/11/2008 18:45

I think that's v good advice Fran. Did she have the affair?

I think that all children should sing every day at the beginning of school. But am old codger.

TooTicky · 20/11/2008 18:46

Ah but I don't like aeroplanes so progress would be slow. And I don't have any money

mou · 20/11/2008 18:49

Pink! It's PINK!!! Pink is back

God Stuffit, If I ate pies I dread to think what I would be like. MMMMMMMM shall I give it a try?

Still busy but DS is being challenging, might just super-glue his lips together.

Might lurk at the reunion if I have time but will maintain a dignified distance and observe the wisdom of the elders, (shall go and cause havoc elsewhere!)

With you on the choir thing Franny, it was exercise or singing for me and I can sing anywhere.

Oh gosh, My DS has just told me that I have the most beautiful smile in the world and I'm all choked up.....

G'night for now fruity nutters...enjoy the reunion.

stuffitllama · 20/11/2008 18:49

Toot I wish I could send over a hot air balloon for you.

Thanks for your message, I will reply. DD on school trip so peace reigns.

Have fun at reunion all . Will there be a pit?

stuffitllama · 20/11/2008 18:50

night all x
unless I get insomniac later

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2008 18:51

lassi I can't because that would mean I will NEVER eat mangoes again, and they really are quite nice when it isn't 4 deg below

have spent day eating cake at people's houses. How's that for a walk in the woods? [jubilant]
I took ds1 to the woody place and he said it was too cold, so we went to the library for a bit, and then went to get the bus, and then met a succession of people we know, all of whom invited us to their house for tea and cake. Hurrah! Eventually forced to roll home but still marvellous day

have started thread in Meet Ups. Ha. Well it amused me anyway.

oh I have been longing to tell you! one woman who invited us in for tea, I have only met her once before and we are still sussing each other out. I walked into her house and said "AHA I smell QUINOA" and then kept laughing and not being able to explain why. So she is probably going to hide next time she sees me.

TooTicky · 20/11/2008 18:52

Mou, dd2 was playing with a lipstick-shaped eraser recently. Dp asked her if she was going to put any on me and she said, "No, mummy is already beautiful". Beautiful pronounced "bwifful"

'Lo Stuffit

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 18:57

Oh, I didn't know about zippi

Yes, stuffit, I'm UR!

Happy birthday little guad. 11, wow.

I agree re singing at the beginning of the day. It's good for people to do that. That was the only good thing about school assemblies.

Sounds like a lovely day, Franny

Bwiful is a fab word. I am sure you are, Toot

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 19:28

It's snowing. Again. I'm cold.

littlerach · 20/11/2008 19:30

Ah, TooTicky, that's lovely.

Tomatoes
Muesli
Pear ( a perfect one, too)
Thai green curry - I pit red and yelleo peppers, green beans and baby corn in.

Was very nice actually, though I'd have preferred it a bit hotter, but dh thought it was fabulous .

Dd1 said ti was worse than sproits .

Guad, 11 seems v grown up. I guess ut us secondary school next year then?

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 19:54

Sounds good, LR

Does anyone have a blackbean soup recipe?

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2008 19:55

I didn't know about zippi either
i saw a thread where she was having a v bed time but didn't say she was leaving...i don't think? Can you link, rach?

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2008 19:56

TooT is definitely bwifful, btw

FrayedKnotinaPumpkinCostume · 20/11/2008 19:56

I'm just getting ready for the party

I heard there was one around here tonight?

Poor old DS fell over at school today and school tried to ring me but of xourse my mobile, which I hardly use, was stuffed in my handbag on silent under my desk.

I didn;t even check for messages so the first I knew was when I arrived at school. He headbutted the playground floor

Did the tea and cake lady actually have quinoa Franny, or not?

Mangolassi are you a new recruit or someone I should know? Sorry, I miss a day and can;t catch up.

FrannyDisguisedAsAviatrix · 20/11/2008 20:10

yes she was cooking quinoa at the time
of course i really had an aHA moment and kind of shouted

she's very nice i hope she can ignore that bit

filthymindedvixen · 20/11/2008 20:21

Vranny, sadly Zippi has left MN for the moment. She was feeling unwell and felt that MN was making her worse. I am in contact with her though.
