For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

stuffitllama · 19/11/2008 19:45

Used to love Fooc. I should be able to listen now as we have an internet radio but I can't work it. Although I guess I could listen on the pute while I'm here couldn't I. Hadn't thought of that.. anyhoo congratulations again Mou that sounds wonderful! Do you have exhibitions?
Bunny good luck with your difficult moment. It does sound hard. Are you really hankering after home.. is it just not possible?
Going to bed -- have just got through an airline booking process and need to be fanned gently while I recover. The children have gone off on amazing school trips for a few days so I know I can Get Things Done tomorrow
night xx

Enjoy the peace and quite, stuffit. Where have the DC gone?

filthymindedvixen · 19/11/2008 20:33

'Lo lovely fruiters. I'm too glum to be sociable tonight, but I'll see you soon. I have eaten nothing worth reporting I'm afraid. Erm, cucumber. Tomato ketchup....

mou · 19/11/2008 20:48

Stuffit..Had started to build up a circuit prior to my DD being born, and I was doing fairly regular commissions but the last two years have completely kaiboshed that. However it is my absolute dream to build my reputation back up and move forward. I was invited by a Birmingham Gallery to submit work for exhibition last year and had to turn it down..ouch!. Tomorrow is another day however and as I say am ready to move forward now.

Sorry you are glum fmv, hope it is transient and you feel better soon, and feel free to have some of my energy, I seem to have a surplas!

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 23:58

Oh FMV, sorry you are feeling blue - and that it hasn't passed yet - is there anything we can do?

Franny, hope you are feeling better, how is work going?

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 00:35

Ooo, I forgot to mention, I picked the last of my lettuce today - mid-november, and I still have lettuce in the garden! And celery and spinach and herbs.

daisy99divine · 20/11/2008 02:42

Sorry SB, didn't mean to intrude

at lettuce, hadn't the bears eaten them all

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 03:07

Sorry, my response sounded rather rude. Didn't mean it to. Why are you always up in the middle of the night, daisy?

stuffitllama · 20/11/2008 03:14

hi bunny and daisy and fmv and all, my lo's have left for school/work/the big wide world
Bunny I can relate to how tough that is.. I feel homesick quite a lot at the moment. But with this posting it feels like "going home" will not be "going home" any more we've been away for so long. But I would so love to be nearer my family. I worry for the children that they won't have that feeling of "home", as I did until just recently.
Mou you were doing so well before.. it can only be a matter of time! Hope the website people do a wonderful job.

have eaten brussels sprouts, carrots and tomatoes for breakfast, oddly

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 04:39

Hello Stuffit. It's a strange thing, living away from 'home'. Hope you settle in soon. I always thought the first few months would be worse but it still creeps up on me often and I have to think hard about the good things of living somewhere else. I'm homesick now because of all the festivities so am watching My Fair Lady!

What a strange breakfast you had.

stuffitllama · 20/11/2008 04:52

So you are there for Christmas? Which side are you? We are staying here. In retrospect it may be a mistake. But we will go back in the summer for two months and are meant to be making the most of travel opportunities here. Which we are, and will be! I have been moaning and unhappy recently which is not good -- nobody has forced this upon us, and plenty of people have no choice at all. I've just been rather weak and feeble I suppose.

It was spicy too..curiouser and curiouser. I now have a funny taste in my mouth despite cleaning my teeth twice.

Off to choir practice soon hurrah it always cheers me up

SuperBunny · 20/11/2008 05:08

Yes, we'll be here. I'm not allowed to leave so have no choice. Will be ok though. The only time I went home for Christmas was a bit of a nightmare, trying to see everyone and do everything we wanted to do in a short space of time. Two months in the summer will be good though, I suspect. Are people coming to visit you?

Enjoy choir practice - I sing too and it always lifts my mood.

mou · 20/11/2008 08:13

Super Bunny, Zippi left, she was really upset and did a thread about it. Loads of people tried to get her to stay..I am sorry if you didn't know. I nearly did a link on here but didn't know if it was the done thing..

at stuffits breakfast.

Working away from home but have the legs of a baby deer after my run yesterday so am going to take a dignified stroll!

DD has just told DS for being lazy and making me get his breakfast! (she is 5, he is 10). She had got her own and tidied up. Lol

Getting very tired as it is weeks since I had a good nights sleep, and a friend has just told me I shake/tremble sometimes, which I guess is not a good sign. And yet I am full of beans, don't know if I should do more and completely wear myself out.

mangolassi · 20/11/2008 08:54

Ok, we need to sort this mango stuff out now. You all need to come and visit me in April, when we will eat nam dokmai mangoes with sticky rice and coconut milk, and they will not be soapy, pissy, rotten or otherwise substandard. After which you will all love my name only say nice things about mangoes. Amen.

Oh, but jellied sperm tofu I can agree with you on (who was that?). The soft stuff is a bit grim, but you can get hard tofu as well which is much more palatable. You can chop it up and use it the same way as you would meat in a stir fry or whatever. Much nicer than TVP. Here they do deep fried tofu with chili sauce - reall tasty, if a bit Glaswegian.

Mou - I don't know you at all, but if you're tired and shaky maybe you need to try to slow down, not speed up, even if you do feel full of beans?

SB and Stuffit, sorry you're feeling homesick. I've been here so long I'd find it hard to go back I think, but especially since having dd I need a reliable source of UK culture - I heart mn.

Franny - what work do you do? Does it involve babies? Am intrigued.

And hello everyone else, too

FrannyandZooey · 20/11/2008 09:22

i want to live somewhere I can eat nice ripe mangoea all the time
however they tend to be the same places that you get loofahs the size of volkswagens so this is not going to happen

lassi I run classes for children - with the babies we do music, parchute play, treasure baskets, etc
i love it

have told ds1 we will take bus to local woods today and now I can't be bothered. well i mean I will still take him but I don't want to be arsed. i am tired and ds2 is heavy, and it's ruddy freezing

stuffitllama · 20/11/2008 10:08

superbunny

you are ur aren't you ?

I was away A LONG TIME in my defence

Guadalupe · 20/11/2008 10:13

I have had two shit spitting mangoes this morning, I am not buying any more this winter. They won't cut, just sort of crumble into acidic smelling fibres under the knife and it dribbles up your arm. Pah.

Last night I wasted a very nice fish pie because the creme fraiche split in the oven and it turned out in some blancmangey mess like cottage cheese. I was really ANGRY.

I am still quite annoyed.

Ds1 is 11 today. How did he get so big?

Good luck with your course and stuff, OB.

mangolassi · 20/11/2008 10:16

Ooh, parachute play - I have a colleague who keeps going on about it, but I don't really know what it is. He's supposed to be finding parachutes for us

mangolassi · 20/11/2008 10:17

Can I ban you all from eating mangoes unless you're in a tropical country and they're in season?

Guadalupe · 20/11/2008 10:18

Yes, please do!

mangolassi · 20/11/2008 10:23

Happy Birthday to Guad's boy (I wanted to say 'Baby Guad', but 11! Wow).
