For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

A day is dawning bright and new,
The yurt is calm and quiet.
The scent of fruit and flowers fill the air,
Where yesterday there was a riot.
An air of peace and serenity reigns,
And franny once more returns,
To find the wayward 10/10ers asleep,
Last night a lesson learned.
Like a shrine, before us rising,
A pledge to improve our eating,
And now to real life I must go,
and stop this silly bleating.....

OsmosisBOOnana · 19/11/2008 09:01

Hi,

I'm going to retire for a bit... So much going on at home and at uni to concentrate on.

Not flouncing, just sneaking out the back door for a bit.

Maybe I'll come and tell you my essay marks at xmas after all your kind words of encouragement

To say nothing of the fact that I barely manage to scrape 5/10 these days!

laterz potaterz.

TooTicky · 19/11/2008 09:03

Ds2 is looking so small and white

SB, op was postponed because he has this sickness bug.
Sorry your ex is being a pain. There are lots of websites you could direct him to, but I suspect he's just being awkward for the sake of it?

That was very poetic Mou

Daisy, I was wondering where you'd got to.

I am sort of in touch with Berolina - I very much owe her an email. I owe lots of people emails.

TooTicky · 19/11/2008 09:04

OB COME BACK HERE AT ONCE!!!!!!!!

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 09:32

Toot - big hugs for you and poor little white DS2 - they look so vulnerable don' they? It will be fine!

OsBa you'll be back asking for tips as soon as you have another essay title - don't you realise you can't do it without us??

Veggie hugs to all - bit busy today so speak later!

MamaG · 19/11/2008 10:27

OS-ba = don't go, because I'll be offended that you left as soon as I returned.

Everybody missed my birthday by the way. 15th November

I love mangoes even though they're a bit soapy. I'd rather eat them than tofu which I HATE (BAD vegetarian) - its like jellied sperm

MamaG · 19/11/2008 10:28

oh - F&V

er

2 slices white toast with butter
1 crumpet with butter
2 posh chocolates

mangolassi · 19/11/2008 10:35

Oh wow, this is a lovely thread but very manic lively, it may take me a while to catch up.

I'm in Thailand and have to say in my defence that mangoes don't smell of infected piss here, although they might by the time they've got to cold rainy dark depressing Britain, I wouldn't know

Very jealous of people eating bento.

Yaay! for tofu

mangolassi · 19/11/2008 11:04

Dinner last night:
small salad
any brownie points for the pesto on my pasta
apple
juice from fresh coconut

Today:
flesh from yesterday's coconut
2 apples
chickpea salad (again)
And I'm informed by dp that dinner will include mixed green salad and green papaya salad. I may even buy another coconut.

That's pretty good for me

And I want to share that the man from the fruit shop, who doesn't know me despite my having lived here for years ( etc), was very impressed yesterday when I asked for a kilo of apples and told everyone he could see that I speak very good Thai.

The Thai for 'kilo' is 'kilo', and the Thai for 'apple' is, um, 'apple'.

But I smiled and said thank you anyway

mou · 19/11/2008 11:43

Osba, don't go, even if you just pop your head in from time to time until things even out, but if you must, you will be thought of, missed, and welconed back with much enthusiasm. ,{hug},xxxxx

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 12:06

Franny thinks the thread is declining because of the diet coke - and yet there is talk of tofu sperm and mango piss!

help please!

mou · 19/11/2008 12:15

Poor DS1 toot, I had about six out when I was about his age and remember fainting at the dentists.

SB, sorry about DS's Dad, not much to say but He seems well out of order.

Must confess, have never had Tofu and after your description Mamag, I might put it to the bottom of my 'to try' list......"jellied sperm"...bleeeeuuurgh.

Thailand. Wow, cool, s'great on here.

I have just been for a big run, so am both tired and exhilerated, and about to do.....housework!!!!, like a proper wife. Just having a nutty snack to get my blood sugar back up or else I will deflate.

Byeeeeeeee!,xxxxxx

FrannyandZooey · 19/11/2008 13:31

well I LIKE mangoes we just call them cunting because we have all had duff ones that go rotten before they are ripe
I haven't had a decent one for ages - really shouldn't try to eat them in the winter

OB not sure what to say - I know we sometimes rub each other up wrong way so will try not to say anything to make it worse! good luck with your course anyway if you do decide not to hang around here so often
I must say I was here loads yesterday and I really should NOT be spending the time here, so I will try to go back to popping in, or at least limit it some other way
god it's addictive isn't it
i forgot bero had left and actually managed to stay away! how did she do that?

mou · 19/11/2008 13:40

!
I have just signed up to having a professional website set up....
Faints!

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 14:30

Go Mou - did your Guad shrine say it was going to work!?

Franny - I hate that rotten before it's ripe thing - I get it with pears a lot

MamaG - that bubba is gorgeous!

Banana, Apple, satsuma, orange juice, lettuce

(sorry Franny, I think I am one of your "oh dear" veggers!)

SuperBunny · 19/11/2008 15:05

Nice poem mou - I like waking up to a poem.

Bye OB, good luck with RL.

Poor DS2, Toot.

Mango, I didn't realise you were somewhere exotic. How lovely. Congrats on being able to speak Thai so well! I have been congratulated on my English several times

littlerach · 19/11/2008 16:36

OB, don't be gone for long, I like your posts.

TooTicky, hope it all went okay.

Tomato soup
pear
muesli

not good today.

Dh back so at least have transport

Mango, tell us more about Thailand.
Do you post on the FOOC thread? I love that thread, I can imagine being in all those different places.

Superbunny, how did you end up in USA, if I'm not prying too much?

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 17:14

Ooo are we having a bit of exotica here? I dare not look at FOOC thread, don't need more, but with SB and Stuffit and Mango we are doing pretty well

Mango LOL at your kilo of apples Thai - it's all in the accent dear

hang on , we need FMV for this too, she's a bit of a travelling lass!

stuffitllama · 19/11/2008 17:20

hello, lurking mainly, just cannot keep up

OB you can't! you're doing nutrition! you need input from the coalface!

Mou congratulations on the website, you should do a link as and when..what's it for?

Toot I messaged you m'dear . What news.

Hello Mango in Thailand, though you are asleep (or getting up?) and Bunny in the US, it's getting like model United Nations here x

SuperBunny · 19/11/2008 17:47

LR, my ex got a job here. Stupidly I gave up my career, a job I loved, my home, my family and all my friends to follow. Bitter? Me? Never... bet you wished you hadn't asked now!

Banana
Raisins
OJ
Huge & slightly strange stir fry (corn, peas, carrots, peppers, chickpeas, tofu) [2 or 3]
1/2 a persimmon

I think I may need to dump my BF but I am not sure how. And doing it right before Thanksgiving seems a bit unfair. How does one make these decisions?

littlerach · 19/11/2008 18:10

I guess you miss the UK then, SB?

How long have you been there?

My ILs moved almost 16 years ago, and now want to come back. Though MIL prefers kliving there, as they get older they want ot be around family.

The FOOC thread is great, Daisy, thoguh I only lurk there.

Baked beans.

stuffitllama · 19/11/2008 18:11

Hi Superbunny, sorry about the bf. I think there is never a good time though .. Thanksgiving, Christmas, then New Year.. Probably harder to do AFTER romantic celebrations and gift-giving?

Franny are you disappearing again too? Please don't, I hope not, but all the best of everything to you and the zoolets.. if you are looking for a book during a quiet moment my dh is currently reading "Exploding Mangoes".

It is apparently about General Zia and is very funny. At the very least I have given you the title of your autobiography.

SuperBunny · 19/11/2008 18:28

Thanks, stuffit. I'm rubbish at this kind of thing.

Just a bit, LR! I don't dislike it here but it's not home. And, career-wise, I am back to where I was at 18 which is a little frustrating.

You should all post on the FOOC thread - overseas folk love hearing about the UK.

Exploding mangoes sounds interesting. Better than cunting ones.

mou · 19/11/2008 18:40

Stuffit...it is for painting and I am nearly orgasmic with excitement! (oops, TMI, sorry).
I was planning it for the new year but am going ahead now.

And what the 'fooc' does fooc stand for?

SB, life takes some twists at times. I feel for you, and re the other decision, you follow your gut instinct and your heart. We are here.....

SuperBunny · 19/11/2008 18:46

How exciting, mou. I thought it was for your business but painting is much more exciting! Will you link to it when it is done?

FOOC is From Our Own Correspondent
