For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

it's a bit lord of the flies in here int it?
can i get out again? i only ate chocolate

Guadalupe · 18/11/2008 20:34

No you can't get out. The sides are too steep. If you ask very nicely someone may throw down a duvet.

OsmosisBOOnana · 18/11/2008 20:39

All I can remember of LOTF is the eating Piggy (was that even his name?) thing. Is that the right book? Is someone eating someone in the pit? How gross. Not to mention unhygienic.

FrannyandZooey · 18/11/2008 20:39

i want my mum

Guadalupe · 18/11/2008 20:41

There was something piggy and something unsavoury being eaten if I remember correctly but it's a long time since I read it.

OsmosisBOOnana · 18/11/2008 20:44

Right, I'm getting paranoid that I'm causing offence, going to lurk elsewhere.

Good evening

littlerach · 18/11/2008 20:45

My car has gone now.
A very nice man came and towed it away
I think I have jinxed him as he was a little late arriving. He apologised profuselty and explained that the tow truck took a while ot start - oops!

I had to eat some choclate to feel warm again as it is damned cold outside.

mou · 18/11/2008 20:46

Franny....I hope you are not truly offended or anything...it really is the loveliest thread on mumsnet IMO, and I think there is much giddyness due to new and old faces and the spirit of the season and all.

My 'diet coke' is not a drink but something I say to put humour into a RL situation that I find myself in and The gorgeous 10/10ers are kind enough to humour me, but I mean no disrespect whatsoever. I will bring gifts of fruit and home baked goodies as penance...

Tatties · 18/11/2008 20:50

Listen to this: dp has just made Franny's sugar-free banana cake - it is in the oven as we speak!!! If that won't drag you out of the pit, I don't know what will

FrannyandZooey · 18/11/2008 20:55

oh lord am too tired to untangle this, it really doesn't matter if i dn't like diet coke does it? i am not pretending i do anyway
hoorah for banana bread
i thought it might be quite jolly with us all in the pit but perhaps another time
xx

Guadalupe · 18/11/2008 20:59

Tatties!!!

It's the village hall isn't it, that brought you out. Village hall and tea and brooms and jolly songs and stuff. How are you?

OB - Don't be silly. Who is offended, and by what? I even sprayed tea-tree so you didn't find it so unhygienic!

I really fancy some banana cake now.

Guadalupe · 18/11/2008 21:03

The best banana cake recipe I've used has plenty of rum soaked raisins in with madagascan vanilla. It is delicious.

Tatties · 18/11/2008 21:04

Guad! I posted a message to you on the last thread to say very, very sorry I missed your birthday. I remembered, then forgot again with everything going on We have moved and are just finding our feet

Guadalupe · 18/11/2008 21:07

Oh don't worry. I watched the postman walk past without a dropping off a beautiful piece of Tatties art work and a tear did roll down my cheek but I got over it.

I'm glad you are settling down. Do you like it there?

Tatties · 18/11/2008 21:21

We like it but are all pretty tired!

TooTicky · 18/11/2008 22:25

Oh, you have all been here and I missed it

Sympathies Greensleeves!!

Ds2 was Heartily Ill again this evening. Mind you, while I was taking ds1 to hospital, dp fed him chips, mini cheddars, doughnut with pink icing and chocolate FFFFFFFFFS!!!!!
I wouldn't give all that to a well child!!

So ds2's op is postponed

Ds1's pre-op doodah was fine. They will be taking out 10 teeth but the rather piscine but nevertheless pleasant dentist gave him a little mirror which he then proceeded to clown with so that I had to stifle giggles. He is a splendid boy

TooTicky · 18/11/2008 22:39

Where are you all? I am sitting up waiting for a fruit cake to cook - dd1 needed one to decorate at her sugarcraft club tomorrow.

TooTicky · 18/11/2008 23:20

Mou, I did email, yesterday I think. NOT hassling for reply, just letting you know in case it's gone awol

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 00:43

Crikey, I have one night off and it's all tea and songs and reminiscence in the pit!

for missing out

I HATE diet coke, actually all fizzy drinks (except tonic with gin) but I am rather partial to a spell in the pit

I didn't know we called mangoes cunting - i will stop offering them to people to rest their heads on - don't want you to rest on flaps iyswim!

LOTF - I think they killed Piggy, not ate him. He was stoned to death, he floated out to sea on a sort of phosphorous halo and Ralph had a pang of guilt. That's my recollection

That, and Boxer being taken away for dog food thinking he was going to a lovely retirement home in Animal Farm are my two most haunting memories of English Lit at school .....

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 00:45

There we are. I shall post alone in the dead of night and you can read it tomorrow and think "what on earth is she on about"

here's to tomorrow!

Hope car ok LR and come back Osba!

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 00:45

YO! TOOT! that cake is cooked!

Sorry about DS1, your DS2 sounds a star, hope all goes well

SuperBunny · 19/11/2008 01:40

Where is Avi these days?

Anyone heard from Bero?

How is Lully, Franny?

I want mini cheddars now. Am glad DS1s pre-op thing went well. Why has DS2s been postponed?

Sugar free banana bread - is it any good? I may need the recipe.

Osba, come back.

DS's father has just emailed me to complain that DS doesn't eat meat when with me and is therefore not getting enough protein. This from a scientist. With a PhD. I really don't think I should have to explain how protein is found in plants and that DS gets plenty of it from the veg, beans, soy stuff and the odd bit of cheese he eats. Plus all the dairy and meat he eats at weekends when he isn't with me. Grrr.

Only about 5 F&V today, maybe 6. And no exercise. Will redeem myself tomorrow, hopefully.

SuperBunny · 19/11/2008 02:32

I just ate a bowl of collared greens. Double points for that, I think.

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 02:40

Double points for collared greens

what about free range ones?

Grr re DS's father and food manipulation

SuperBunny · 19/11/2008 03:00

Why are you up, Daisy? Tis late over there.
