I hate it, I am stuck in a rut of feeling stressed, smoking more, which is making me feel even worse.
I dont go to the gym anymore, mostly because i feel too rough, used to go 4 times a week.

It smells, its killing me, its too expensive.

God I hope i can do it this time, I really do want to NEVER smoke again

Hi Mosschops..are you feeling pretty positive?

Was waiting till I finished a pack. Now done. That's it. I've told dh it's for two days only because he gets all mother hen-ish. But am going to quietly try to stop.

Good luck to both of us hey?

yay its day two

I have been to the gym, bought myself some lovely shower gel (thanks for whoever suggested that), bought some posh tea to drink at home which I never do and am feeling ok actually.
I said to dh last night its amazing that I actually feel less stressed than when I was smoking, if that makes any sense. I feel nicer, calmer and just totally in control. Still using inhalator.

How you going bleurgh??

And yes if you could marla that would be fab, I'd pay you for postage if you could

mosschops30 · 16/10/2008 20:19

yes going well now, cant believe its day 4 tomorrow and so far I have survived hitting a dog with my car and an argument with dh and still not smoked!!

Bleurgh how are you?

OP posts:
blueskyandsunshine · 17/10/2008 02:16

i'm ok but not sleeping
it's a very very stressy time for me so I don't know if that's why not

is this no sleepign thing normal? I'm having about three hours each night (only two nights so far)

blueskyandsunshine · 17/10/2008 02:24

whoops namechanged
I do that a lot
trying to be bright and shiny and positive

anyway have done the two days!

catchingzeds · 17/10/2008 06:45

Well done to you both! Just keep going day by day. It has been 8 weeks since my last cigarette and I feel sooooo much better.
I found that I would have a few really good days followed by a couple of really bad days, on these days the only thing that stopped me was looking at my DS.
I knew I would struggle if I had a night out so I simply stayed in for a few weeks, no alcohol has probably done me good as well, my body has never known it so good

I used the patches and found them great, stopped using them last week and have only had a couple of weak cravings. The patches did make me sleep badly so I didn't wear them overnight.

You will feel dead proud of yourself!

blueskyandsunshine · 17/10/2008 06:56

by the way well done moss
I should have said that in the first place

Tillyscoutsmum · 17/10/2008 09:41

bluesky - I struggled with sleeping for the first few nights - I even dreamt I was having a ciggie one night . It did get better from around day 4 though. Don't underestimate how massively addictive nicotine is and how the withdrawal can make you feel. The good news is that 90% of the nicotine will have left your body after 3 full days of non smoking so the physical withdrawal should become easier after that.

You're both doing really well

blueskyandsunshine · 17/10/2008 14:26

I am feeling so very bad tempered.

Just coming to the end of day three. Want to punch something. But won't.

Thanks Tilly!

Tillyscoutsmum · 17/10/2008 14:36

Get a load of paper and tear it into tiny shreds - great for that "tight knot in the stomach" feeling. Not quite as effective of punching something perhaps, but worth a go.

The worst is almost over..... promise

blueskyandsunshine · 17/10/2008 14:39

actually that is really quite good! I do feel better!

Tillyscoutsmum · 17/10/2008 14:48

Good.... was worried you'd think I was a complete nutter It always works for me though

mosschops30 · 17/10/2008 15:25

well done blue sky, youre doing so well we both are.

I havent used my inhalator at all today but have been cleaning and found that really hard because I love splitting my cleaning uo with a fag (do the upstairs, then have a fag, do the downstairs then cuppa and fag). But ive managed. I love using all my nice smelly stuff, I love my mouth not smelling like a donkeys arse in the morning and most of all I love ds not looking at me smoking any more

blueskyandsunshine · 17/10/2008 15:59

NIce one Moss. Amazing to think we could do this!

Yes the one thing that's keeping me going is the children not having to give mummy five minutes of private time. That is so great.

sweetcat · 17/10/2008 16:08

I gave up 6 weeks ago - doesn't it feel great? My teeth are whiter, skin clearer, and I also feel great that I don't have to sneak out and smoke leaving DC's watching the Tv or something.

Well done both of you!

Tillyscoutsmum · 18/10/2008 11:00

Just dropping by to do my supporting bit

How're you both doing ?

mosschops30 · 19/10/2008 16:59

Yay doing really well, havent had any moments even close to wanting to go and buy a packet of fags. A few times I have craved though, but nothing too bad.
I am cleansing my face every nite and smothering it with lovely stuff, showering with lovely stuff, and its really helping me feel lovely.

How are you bluesky???

p.s. thanks for all the support its great to keep coming back to this thread when you feel a bit iffy to see how well other people have done and how fab they feel

blueskyandsunshine · 20/10/2008 07:25

Hi guys, hi sweetcat and well done,
Congrats Mosschops you are doing so brilliantly. I agree with you about the nice smelly stuff, I spend as much time as poss smothering myself with cream or buffing or something .. I just think of all those spare minutes I've got in the day now and I'm going to splurge them on self-indulgence while I'm still finding it difficult.

I'm definitely not doing as well as you in terms of craving. Had a major middle of the night house hunt on Saturday but luckily failed to find any so am still on the wagon and SOOOO GLAD.

I'm swimming every day too and that is helping, also the children are very happy.

Tillyscout you are a tonic. THANKS!

Tillyscoutsmum · 20/10/2008 08:22

You are both doing really well

The cravings are hard but should only last 5 minutes.... try sipping a large glass of cold water slowly (just to take your mind off it and I also imagine the water "washing out" the nasty chemicals from my body ). I also found that slowly eating a drumstick lollipop took about the same amount of time

I went and had a facial and back massage yesterday morning to "celebrate" my full 2 weeks off them. It was lovely

Keep strong

mosschops30 · 21/10/2008 16:38

Hi guys, well its a week today and I am grieving for my fags! Sad as it sounds. This happens to me every time i give up, it gets harder rather than easier until I finally crack.
I feel like I have nothing to look forward to at breaktimes, and when Im leaving work, or when I get home from work, im just a bit lost.

But ive stayed on the wagon too, although not a happy bunny.

Well done bluesky and tillyscoutsmum, hope youre both still doing really well

blueskyandsunshine · 21/10/2008 17:14

Mossy stay with me

I have had your moment the other night -- scrabbling around for any that might be hanging around the house

It's hard but just do another day (then maybe another ..and another.. and another)

Can you keep it going tonight and maybe you'll feel better in the morning? Can you go to bed very very very early, will that do the trick?

blueskyandsunshine · 21/10/2008 17:16

I like the drumstick idea Tilly

I haven't read your thread but are you getting married? That's got to be quite stressy in itself!

blueskyandsunshine · 21/10/2008 17:46

Good luck Moss x
