For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

coffee, raisins, 'fruit' snacks

FrayedKnot · 10/09/2008 18:21

Hello

I was at work at 7.45 this morning, so I could get back in time to take DS to school

Then into town and managed at last to find some comfy shoes

Mou what a nasty experience

I love cycling but my biggest fear around where I live is a severe lack of cycle paths and drivers like the one you met today

Am also very at the sound of a studio. Even though I am hopelessly unarty and uncrafty.

If I had a studio I would probably write in it, or do some yoga.

Glad to hear Stuffit is OK.

filthymindedvixen · 10/09/2008 18:51

mou - the green faces are not frowny, they supposed to be envious faces - we wish we had arty studios!

post is mail; Lully is very kindly sending me some clothes she no longer requires, which I am very excited about as I am skint, so cannot indulge myself with clothes this year...

filthymindedvixen · 10/09/2008 18:53

I have had aduki bean and veg soup, melon, veg spagehtti 'bolonaise'. I feel utterly drained today and fell asleep after work for an hour, which never happens!

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 10/09/2008 19:00

Oh, FMF, are you ok? Do you need some kikistuff or something?

Apple, lettuce, tomatoes, more coffee, tea

filthymindedvixen · 10/09/2008 19:08

I probably do...though I think it's good old fashioned knackeredness

OP posts:
FrayedKnot · 10/09/2008 19:32

Where do we get the kiki stuff from, again?

SuperBunny · 10/09/2008 20:10

FK, I think poo talk usually brings Franny back...

SuperBunny · 10/09/2008 21:28

So, with perfect timing after my previous post...

We just went to the garden and pulled up a leek. DS is fascinated. We brought it home, he helped me chop the straggly leaves off then disappeared into the bathroom.

"Mummmyyyy, come here...."

I dutifully obliged, to be presented with a naked DS pointing down the toilet.

"Look at this, Mummy"

"It's a leek poo"

pinkspottywellies · 10/09/2008 21:48

FMV the only time I sleep in the day is when I'm pg

Apple, apple juice, raisins, lots of chicken soup with veg in (in fact that's all I had for lunch and dinner.)

I've just tried a pair of size 10 trousers on in Tesco a shop (ordinary not maternity) just to see. And they fitted (except for a little muffin top!)

The thing is I still see myself as the size 14 I was in January. And clearly I'm not. So why don't I feel any thinner and more gorgeous?!

FrayedKnot · 10/09/2008 21:51

Where is everyone

Lol at the leek poo UR

SuperBunny · 11/09/2008 02:26

Yes, where is everyone?

We went to the garden to collect sunflower seeds only to find that the squirrel was eating them all and shredding the remainder of the flower The bugger didn't even budge when I approached it. He just sat there and glared at me with a 'What are you looking at? I was here first' look DS was most put out and shouted at the squirrel, "NOOoooooooooo, that's not nice. That's my sunflower"

Squirrel then moseyed off to next-doors tomato patch and settled down for another meal.

mou · 11/09/2008 08:58

-re the green faces, , arty but not always very bright! i'm very lucky to have the studio, it is on the top floor of our house so it fits in with bringing up the children.

firefox brilliant thanks.

Psw..have you tried putting on something that you wore when you were a size 14? makes me feel thinner every time. (i've gone from a size 20 to a size 12).
must admit stress related weight loss but still chuffed. i'd kept all my old clothes in suitcases so am getting them out and altereing them to new body. hence very big wardrobe. i am also skint but adore charity shops...especially charity shop sales!

littlerach · 11/09/2008 13:52

Gosh, you can tell F&Z isn't here, it's all quiet

1 more day til dd2 starts school.
She says she is excited but she's wet the bed one night, and had bad dreams another. And is rather difficult today.

She has practised all of her action words and knows her letters and sounds, dear little thing.

Making veg soup this afternoon.

And it isn't raining - for the second day in a row

filthymindedvixen · 11/09/2008 14:09

100 is busy being bossy helpful with COd. they are doing one of their famous How To Talk So Kids Will lIsten threads...
Dunno about Boco. or Guad. Or anyone really.

Such a fab thread title, wasted I tell you!
Let's all come on later and write bollox and fill up this thread.

OP posts:
Boco · 11/09/2008 14:51

Hello I'm here. And it is a very good title Filthy.

I am back to walking to and from school dozens of times a day now that dd goes in the morning, then pick up dd2 then take her to various clubs, seem to spend my life running late up and down the road.

Have been out for cake with my friend today so that was nice. Am going to London for the weekend to see friends so excited about that.

How is everyone else - will read thread.

SuperBunny · 11/09/2008 15:24

Mou, thats a lot of weight you lost. Well done.

I will reaad the How to Talk thread later. Some friends did a workshop here and it seemed like a good idea.

Got a bunch of squishy bananas so must make into cake later.

Hope everyone is ok.

mou · 11/09/2008 16:02

finally figured out the song title connection... i tell you, i'm about as bright as an energy saving bulb....good at talking bollox though!!

filthymindedvixen · 11/09/2008 16:07

well to be fair, the levellers are not exactly top of everyone's play list, but some of us on here like them a lot (plus it is my mission to get The Levs mentioned on Mumsnet as aoften as possible)

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 11/09/2008 16:18

We all talk bollocks on here, mou so you're in good company. Sometimes people have wise words too.

LOL @ FMF'1 mission.

pinkspottywellies · 11/09/2008 18:48

Wow mou! That's a lot of weight to lose. Are you managing to keep it off? Hopefully not so stressed now? The thing with putting on the size 14 stuff is, because I'm pg, I haven't really bought new clothes yet. My jeans are a bit baggy round the legs but I'm not buying anything til I really need to. And also when I look at how much I must have lost to not be filling out my clothes any more, I realise how gross I must have looked before and there I was just blithely going about my business feeling fine

Anyway. Raisins, apple juice, banana, sweetcorn, cucumber, tomato soup. No dinner yet but it's not going to be very impressive. I'm going to bed fairly soon!

FrayedKnot · 11/09/2008 20:01

Pink I feel exactly the same

I have gone down 2 sizes over the last 2 years and am now thinner than I was before I conceived DS.

Yet I don;t feel it, and look at bigger clothes and think - was I really wearing that and being chunky in it?

Makes me think circular thoughts about body issues and the pressure to be slim....

Mou that's really an achievement, but sorry it came about through stress

Different for you being pg though, I suppose, as you know your body shape is changing anyway.

FMV I have "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" on my iPod for the gym becuase it makes me cycle reeeeeaaaallllly fast

UR the meeces got our sunflower seeds that DH & DS had put in the garage...obviously they are gourmet rodent food

Boco when does life coaching start?

Where is Guad? I hope she didn;t get the bug

I am feeling lots better today, thrush has gone and I feel back to normal

Bowl of fruit salad
Apple
Cherry Tom Soup
Chickpea, cherry tom, pepper & red onion salad
Spanakopita with homegrown chard

TigerFeet · 11/09/2008 20:09

Hi everyone

Mou that's fantastic re weight loss I am attempting to do the same myself atm. Again.

Hope Fran is OK

I heart the title very much indeed

I have had a sort of d&v bug over the past couple of days - not debilitatingly bad but haven't quite been myself

Consequently not much f&v

But I am a lot more active now that dd is at school, a combination of the school run which is too far to walk the whole way with a 4yo but we do walk some of it, and time to go swimming and do vigourous hoovering.

Many hugs to all - especially the insomniacs. I am having the opposite problem atm, can't seem to stay awake.

Pink do you have a bump yet?

littlerach · 11/09/2008 20:13

TF, me too.
Sitm down and fall aslepp.

pinkspottywellies · 11/09/2008 20:16

Bit of a bump but only cos I forget to pull my tummy muscles in!
