For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello everyone

I want chocolate. And sweets. Really really badly. I don't usually crave it.

Where's Toot gone?

SuperBunny · 11/09/2008 20:20

Am glad ill people are feeling better btw.

I need help with my sleep. It's getting silly now. I don't know what to do.

TigerFeet · 11/09/2008 20:25

SB have you been having any kind of relaxation therapy?

I have had reiki and acupuncture in the past and had really good, deep sleep afterwards.

Massage?

Aromatherapy?

Pink if there is ever a time you can forget to pull in your stomach it's now

filthymindedvixen · 11/09/2008 21:05

I've just emailed you FMV.

pinkspottywellies · 11/09/2008 21:25

Oh crap. It's half 9. I was going to go to bed at about 8! I'm going now with a cup of Horlicks. I've just realised I haven't had any dinner again. Haribo don't count as dinner do they? Not even half a bag so pretty poor effort anyway!

Anyone want to come and cook for me?

mou · 11/09/2008 21:35

thanks for congrats on weight loss.
i like The Levellers...bought tickets to see them once but wound up at a Dublinners concert....ought to rename myself 'mou-nice(ish)butdim'.

wish i could help with insomnia SB, sometimes a cd helps, but not often. i go on gorillaz tiles until my mind fades, now if i go on during the day i clock out....'why is mummy asleep at the computer again?'

And why, tell me WHY on the night that i get to sleep and feel as if it might be an all nighter, somebody wakes me..snoring, sneezing, nightmares...
today, i have mostly been eating....nuts, veggie bake mixed roast veg, gallons of tomato juice again.

Guadalupe · 11/09/2008 21:52

Oooh, marvellous thread title, FMV. Have you had your parcel yet, I posted that last Saturday?

I didn't get ill like the others but I felt rough for a couple of days. Back to normal now. We think it might have been food poisoning but we'll see when lab results come back.

I have been getting on with with stuff and there is more to do.

Pink - Eat dinner, not haribos you ninny. They are full of crap. Send them to me instead

TooTicky · 11/09/2008 21:54

SB, if you have a physically exhausting day - a healthy one like walking lots in the fresh air, not shopping and tidying - does that help?
Eating bananas in the evening is supposed to induce sleep.
Lavender oil on your oillow

TooTicky · 11/09/2008 21:55

pillow

MrsC, glad you're feeling better.

Guadalupe · 11/09/2008 21:56

I once put so much lavender oil on my pillow I felt like I was on some whooshy purple trip. In excess it is a stimulant, which combined with me being exhausted and wired sent me a bit funny.

SuperBunny · 12/09/2008 01:11

thanks for the suggestions. Have covered bed in Lavender oil and will buy bananas tomorrow and go for a run.

chickpeas
spinach and peas
apple
grapes
banana
juice
raisins

hello.

I had guests for a while and have dd's birthday to finalise, and then there's all the big bang to take care of, I have been neglectful, I am sorry.

My excuse is busyness but that won't wash as I expect you are all fairly busy yourselves.

I am interested and want to know how everyone is getting on so will nosy around a bit

In the meantime.

food avocado, tomatoes, squash, onion, courgettes, apples, banana, butter beans, yellow pepper.

exercise Ah. well I have a confession and need a kick up the arse.

Today I looked at myself in mirror and thought oh dearie fuck. I have not run or swum in some time and it shows. Bugger. So I need to start doing something. But there are just so amany easy excuses. I need a bit of motivation

or surgery.

pinkspottywellies · 12/09/2008 08:37

Just took me a sec to remember what you were lolling at F!

Thanks for the Haribo support Guad I will indeed send them to you next time I find myself in that situation!

I don't get to sleep ever so well but not to insomnia levels. I can imagine it's really frustrating, which in turn can't help! DH just lies down, closes his eyes and he's gone so I feel like I'm lying awake for ages!

filthymindedvixen · 12/09/2008 08:38

oh Boco, have a loverly day!

Happy happy Birthday Boco!

Have a lovely chocolate fruit filled day

Boco · 12/09/2008 10:34

hello, thanks for birthday wishes. And thanks for the card Bee! I like your experimental envelope addressing - writing the address on the back instead of the front and having only the word BOZO on the front.

Rather a tense morning so far with dd1 sobbing and refusing to go to school. Dp had to take her in the end, physically peeling her off me, so have that stomach knot feeling. Will speak to her teacher this afternoon I think.

Dd2 making me presents by the dozen, all involve wrapping up small pieces of paper in other pieces of paper and using yards of cellotape. This could go on all morning.

littlerach · 12/09/2008 11:51

Oh, happy birthday Bozo Boco.

Do you have plans to do anything nice?

Hour to go til dd2 starts school.

She wet the bed again last night

And said maybe she's stay home with me. And that I could take her unfirm back tot the shops, but not her shoes

And whilst telling my friend this tale today, I had a tear or two

However, she is fine now, or seems to be, and is counting down the minutes.

TigerFeet · 12/09/2008 13:46

LittleRach I do hope that dd2 is OK. I'm sure the reality will be far better than she thinks.

Happy birthday Bozco

A satsuma, and I have been for a swim this morning.

Tittybangbang · 12/09/2008 14:25

"Lettuce is supposed to help with insomnia too"

Wouldn't you have to eat enough to stuff a king sized duvet?

Happy birthday boco!

rudecake

prunes
avocado
tomatoes
lettuce

filthymindedvixen · 12/09/2008 14:29

Lettuce is beneficial in the treatment of insomnia as it contains a sleep inducing substance called 'lectucarium'. Lettuce juice has been likened in effect to the sedative action of opium without the accompanying excitement. The juice of lettuce mixed with oil of roses, applied to the forehead and temples, induces sleep and eases the head-ache. The seeds ' of lettuce in decoction are useful in insomnia and wakefulness due to mental overwork.
