For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Not out of holiday mode yet and DH was off work again so F&V severely lacking [ashamed] I had croissants for breakfast, white roll with beef and gravy and chips for lunch and spag bol at mils for dinner so onions peppers and tomatoes in that.

I vow to try harder tomorrow.

Hello

Had a message from stuffit on facebook - she is eating A LOT of mangoes (although says probably not as many as Franny). Still doesn't have internet access from home and says Mumsnet is a fantasy.

Am eating a passionfruit

Disappointing

I did make banana and peanut butter icecream. The bananas were squidgy and I don't want more cake.

mou · 10/09/2008 00:49

today i have mostly been eating...nuts and dried fruit and drinking gallons of tomato juice. and cake. and more cake. does heavily fruited fruit cake count as a healthy option?
and can i put my computer in the village pond if windows explorer tells me once more that it has encountered a problem and needs to close when i am on mumsnet? bad enough having insomnia without having a life line throw in the towel...gggrrrrrr!!

SuperBunny · 10/09/2008 02:30

Use Firefox, mou. Much better than IE.

Fruit cake is good. All cake is good. Mmmm, cake...

mou · 10/09/2008 07:52

any suggestions for healthy alternatives to red bull would be appreciated!
have at least a can a day and on a bad day two, on a really bad day 3. are there any high energy fruits that give you a kick start?
i'm ok at eating stuff that has a good GI rest of time but am like the living dead due to afore mentioned insomnia.....she types yawning her head off!!!

filthymindedvixen · 10/09/2008 08:30

oh blimey, sorry for all innsomniacs...

Mmmmmm going to have a good day though, out on mountain bike for a couple of hours, followed by a large piece of apple pie (oh god, the very thought.....drooling), and then going to treat myself to the Bryn Christopher album, and an afternoon i my studio.
soul is smiling, hope people have a good day

mou · 10/09/2008 12:51

sorry, got to offload this...out on bike on the main road when there is a massive screech of brakes behind me, i turn round and a car is inches from my back wheel. how didn't see me i don't know i was wearing yellow visibility top, good daylight. my heart is still racing....peddled like mad.
wow that was a near miss!!

TooTicky · 10/09/2008 14:08

Blimey Mou, that must have been scary. Eat some fairtrade chocolate, it is good for shock.
What sort of studio do you have? [nosey]
I find that a plate of salad gives me a good buzz.

Tatties sent me a lovely parcel and dd2 now has shoes and a winter coat and things and I have yummy tea and chocolate.....

mou · 10/09/2008 14:41

right about the fairtrade chocolate, had another piece of apple pie....need to go out on bike again now!!!!
studio is a mixture of painting and 'applied arts' small woodwork/metalwork pieces. i don't get in there enough but should as it is so good for me.
i come for an MN break because i get back/neck ache, and i like talking!
My DD got a clothes parcel and was so happy. she's like her mummy and loves her clothes. at size of my wardrobe!!

TooTicky · 10/09/2008 14:42
