For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Boys are beeeyoootiful

After tears this morning, ds1 is now chuckling over his new school shoes which are rather long and pointy. He is doing charlie chaplin-esque leaning forwards and back without falling over

filthymindedvixen · 02/09/2008 08:32

TBB - what kind of greens do you use? My boys love crispy seaweed but I have never made it.

also sympathy for school and nursery starters
FK if any consolation ds often cries when I go out in the evening but I don't feel guilty because I know he is just being an arse
what I am trying to say is that if you feel badly about something already, anything your children do just exacerbates it
even completely normal behaviour seems like something you have caused by your "selfishness"

Well thats DS off to school - he was fine, excited and chattering, I was willing myself not to shed a few tears - not helped by all the other mums and dads smiling at DS as he proudly walked to school carrying his book bag! He saw his "bestest friend" Matthew (who is Franny's DS1's double) as we got to the playground so that was it! Happy boys, both busily getting stuck in, finding pegs together etc.

DS didn't cry, I didn't cry - gold star for both I think!

No F&V yet - couldn't face eating this morning

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 09:49

Good luck and best wishes to all school starters and returners

Am off to town T today, hoping very much that I can get everything there. If not then must brace myself for a busy city.

Guadalupe · 02/09/2008 09:51

Mine are back at school now too but they were quite happy. Ds1 went in his uniform finished with new converse trainers, not sure if he'll get away with it but he did last year. I left dd chatting on the carpet with her friend that went to Solfest so she was alright. Pouring with rain though, we got soaked.

It is day six of ds2 not having milk in the day and it's quite a relief. He had got to the point where he wanted to stop and have some in the middle of dinner for eg and I found that too much. He still has it at night for now.

About to eat mango and raspberries but I woould prefer toast and marmite.

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 09:55

I have put a photo of my poor ds1 on my profile. What is it with my boys and their eyes?

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 09:56

Are you going to wean him completely MrsC?

Guadalupe · 02/09/2008 10:14

Not straightaway, Toot, but I am becoming less happy to do it than I was. I find myself getting quite irritable with it now actually and that can't be nice for him.

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 10:17

I find myself half fine with it and half irritable - I know what you mean. I've never got this far with bf before and I', sort of half-hoping she will self-wean soonish.

Guadalupe · 02/09/2008 10:21

That's it, and I don't mind before bed but it was getting silly, he was having a bit and then more 20 mins later and so on. Also, whenever I sat down he would demand it even started patting the chair for me to sit down and I have had enough tbh. This is the longest for me too. I have never had to deal with a child asking and me saying no before. I haven't sat down much over the last week.

OsmosisBanana · 02/09/2008 12:06

Morning all.

Dinner party stupendous success despite my ex best friends efforts to ruin it.

She came over to stay from NYC for a few days then went to the festival with us but decided to stay longer than us.

I spent all day waiting for her to come home yesterday (she said she would be back by 12) so I could do shopping, cooking, tidying away of embarrassing items around the house type stuff without DD trying to 'help'. DD is teething spectacularly and getting anything done with her underfoot is impossible abd a little bit of help would have been useful.

Anyway, she rocks up at 4 leaving me 3 hours to buy stuff and cook all 3 courses. And spent the whole time asking me 'are you in a bad mood with me' no... just very busy... if you ask me one more time I will punch you....

I think there must be some national halloumi shortage in Bristol. I had to go to 3 shops to find any!! I live in an 'ethnic' areal fer christs sake. Normally you can't move for halloumi

AND.... THEN......

My first 2 guests arrived, very close friends, DH and I have lived with both of them at some point in our lives. Ex best friend freaks out because she used to go out with bloke.... 10 years ago and 6 partners ago. And left. Talk about making a spectacle of yourself.

Fucking Princess.

And she owes us £190. And we're quite skint atm. AND her partner is a multimillionaire so I'm guessing we need it more.

Ah well, at least DH had something to take to work for his lunch.. And it was a brilliant evening lots of crying with laughter at times gone by. Totally shagged now though. Have to drive over to Bath to do settling session at DD's new nursery. University is becoming a bit of a scary reality now. - sick feeling not envy

Still only 7 days of work left and we're going to Portugal on Sunday! Yay! Scary how quickly things come round.

Whinge over.

For now.

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2008 12:06

I hated the morning feed with ds1 as he got older - I wanted to get up and get in the shower and he wanted a very protracted feed in his bed

I weaned him off that one and in hindsight that must have been the one that was keeping my supply going - he didn't carry on for terribly long after that

and I really did and do miss it
(yes I know I have a baby now)

don't know what I am saying, just be careful what you wish for type of thing
I know you will both do what is right for you

TooT - do you know LitleR's address by any chance? I have a skirt she was after.

How was ragged thingy?

PSW - am posting dress n trews today! Can you believe it?!?

Guadalupe · 02/09/2008 12:14

She sounds like a pain, OB. I fancy Halloumi now, I haven't had it for ages. I can never think of anything interesting to do with it though.

Franny - I know what you mean. There are times when it's so usefull for sleep and comfort and when they're ill. I think I will miss parts of it. I think the night feeds are his long one, though I haven't noticed feeling at all uncomfortable when he hasn't had any all day.

OsmosisBanana · 02/09/2008 12:20

de-seed n finely chop a hot chilli, bun it in some EV olive oil. Fry halloumi in tiny amount of garlic n chilli oil. Bung on top of some leaves, drizzle wth chilli / oil combo. Squeeze lemon juice over. Eat. Or bung in a pitta.

Or as in my friends' case, bung in a pita

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2008 12:24

I would love to lose some weight
but if I don't eat like a horse I get the shakes
any advice? still haven't managed to exercise (shonky pelvis) although carry ds2 around half the day
ds2 putting on about a lb a week - shouldn't that be coming off me?

banana and peanut butter on toast

Hello. I haven't posted on a 10/10 thread since we went on holiday to France so it has been nearly a month.

will try and catch up but foresee it takign a while.

I think that I should like grilled halloumi, but it always reminds me of solidified sweat and I try to swallow it quickly without thinking about it. So actually I don't like it much.

DD1's first day in class2, new teacher who looks very very young and a bit nervous. DD2 starts nursery tomorrow. Nice catching up with people today, some friends came for the morning and stayed for lunch. I think maybe I like routine more than I think I do.

Guadalupe · 02/09/2008 13:11

Thanky ou, Boco, I was just about to say that chilli thing sounds lovely and I might have it tonight. I shall try not to think of sweat!

Hello, Idris.

Franny - I never lose weight while bf, somme people seem to but I don't. I am always starving.

Boco · 02/09/2008 13:13

I could be a useful aid to dieting. You name the fattening food that you are about to eat and I will put you off it. Is becoming a daily thing already, I ruined your fishfinger sandwich yesterday too. I might charge commission for each lb lost.

Guadalupe · 02/09/2008 13:15

You didn't ruin it for long. I just put it down for second. You need to try much harder to get paid for it, I have nearly forgotten about the sweat already.
