We had peaches, we had plums, we had strawberries in the sun, but the peaches and the plums, like the strawberries are all gone - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh Bee, dd1 is bigger than your dd, isn't she? She is almost 12.

Fmv - half lovely weather and half wet but really okay weather. I went barefoot on the wet day - most liberating
It was wonderful though - all that lovely atmosphere to soak up. Oh, and ds2 made a friend and they have swapped addresses

LittleRach - no, she is going to a school beginning with C in a town beginning with T.

Boco, how is your skin and your flooding? I don't seem to have caught up with you recently. I am picturing you chasing shoes floating out of the door and away through your strange village.

However, if anybody has a Natural Calico Apron or a Plain Black or Navy swimming costume sitting around unused.....
I am resigned to a day of shop hell tomorrow and much trouser-trying.

Flooding hasn't happened again since Toot, I think we need to do something vaguely structural but don't know what and not thinking about it too much.

Rash is coming back unfortunately - been relying on steroids which worked and gradually stopped, I suppose inevitable. Am still waiting for hospital appt for allergy testing.

I keep thinking of you guiltily because I still have a bag of clothes under my desk for you. I will sort.

ds1 fine at gymnastics
evil lady spotted going in other direction as we arrived, on her bike, on a narrow pavement which is not part of the cycle route, saying rudely "EXCUSE ME" and barging past group of pedestrians
don't get me wrong i do cycle on the pavement if best route
but I give way to pedestrians

Ah, I know th eone, TooTicky. .

I have been to France for 2 weeks, it was rather hot the last week.
I didn't want to come home really.

Hated the ferry though.
Horrid.

Boco, I don't blame you for not thinking about it. I do a lot of that.

With your rash, I suppose you've tried eliminating things from your diet/neutral washing stuff, etc? Wish I could do something. When I'm rich I'll buy you your own homeopath.

Don't worry about the clothes - whenever they come they'll be great. How big is your dd1? I have some things that my dd1 has grown out of and am moving them from place to place, thinking that if I kerep them I'll have to store them for years. You're welcome to anything you can bear to store...

Franny, glad ds1 was fine
I do dislike rude cyclists!! We have met a few by the canal recently - usually the ones with the single ding bell, who use it as "get out of the way" rather than "excuse me please" and then don't say thank you

LittleRach, tell me you have only heard good things about it.... It seems the best option definitely.

Ds1's eye is now a rich plum colour. At least he can open it a bit now.

Is it still a stress with uniforms, Toot? I spoke to a friend today and she had just spent £400 on stuff, uniforms, trainers and P.E kit. She does have five children though, four of whom are at school. I had forgottten about P.E kits so I am not as organised as I thought.

Sorry, Boco, I am faintly obsessed as well as repulsed at the cord. I wish dh had shown such an interest but maybe not to that extent.

Fishfinger sandwich, but it was superior.

£400?

It's the stupid things like the logoed tracksuit that annoy me - expensive, and do they use it much? Ever? Do we need it for the first day?
I remember finding out, with some dismay, that reception children never actually use their daps.
Oh, and the games socks - blue with gold tops. Separate from PE socks, white.

TooTicky · 01/09/2008 19:28

What is this cord business? [curious]

daps???

I remember my mother sayiing that when she moved to england everyone laughed at her at the new school for calling her plimsoles daps! I have never heard anyone say it.

I think a vast portion of the £400 was shoes. School shoes, trainers and plimsoles for four plus the rest of the uniform. It cost me a fortune for two shirts, two polo shirts, three trousers, choir shirt, new socks, pants and shoes and lunchbox. It is expensive isn't it. Can you get any help, Toot? We always had a grant when I was at school.

oh I think my lactational amenorrhoea might be over. I feel very mixed about it. It is going to hugely increase my non-sensible broodiness. Plus it might well be just coincidence but it coming so soon after going back to work is making me feel funny and sad and worried for my bf - although my supply doesn't seem affected at all.

looking forward to birth story. i have ds cord upstairs in a box. it is mummified not pickled.

What is it with all these cords?

Not posh schools, no, Franny, just ordinary. I think posh schools have an even more extensive, ridiculous specifications. At least we don't have to have uniform outerwear as well.

Must I resign my membership as a lentil weaver, as i did nothing with ther cord. As it was stuck round ds's neck and gave him erbs palsy for several weeks, I felt I had had quite enough of umbilical cords....
