For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh i am not feeling low at the moment

a bit lonely

so purely jealous of stuff

well F&Z all those things are definitely reflections of his adventurous and imaginative nature and uis unbridled enthusiasm

you could knock the stuffing out of him

but otherwise i think it is grin and bear it i think

i am mildly grieved that dd1 and herbf have gone to watch football at the pub with exh

irrationally i felt i wanted to be invited

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2008 18:05

actually i empathise with frannys ds1

i too am making sill plans for things i want to do immediately but are wildly impractical and impossible

FrannyandZooey · 30/08/2008 18:10

am perplexed about ds2 also

Evening! Banana, blackberries, apple juice, raisins, tomatoes (from my very own plant ) peas, lentil soup, chocolate buttons. 8, not bad.

Had lunch with lovely friends today while dh cleaned the house

Nothing wrong with impractial and impossible plans Zip! At least you have ambition. Hope you're ok. Know what you mean about dd going to the pub with exH - getting a little pang of feeling left out!

pinkspottywellies · 30/08/2008 19:41

Where is everyone?

Tatties · 30/08/2008 20:01

Hey Pink

Your lunch sounds good! I must go and get ds to bed

berolina · 30/08/2008 20:39

evening all.

Fortunately he's with dh, Bee. Our child carer person qwho is supposed to be coming on my work mornings so h can work at home is having immigration troubles (she's American and newly arrived) and won't be able to start or 4-6 weeks But he seems happy for me (for of course it was me doing all the looking ) not to look for another and to work round it until then. Will mean him doing a lot of stuff evenings and weekends and during ds2's most unreliable morning sleep (ds1 starts his lovely new veggy-named kindergartebn on Tuesday so won't be there mornings). I probably sound awful but I'm fine about that tbh as dh has always had it the vastly easier of us two and really I do all the day-to-day organising and stuff. Over the last year or so I have become his secretary . If he forgets something it wasv reasonable for him to remember he asks me why I didn't write it down.

'Twasn't me sending parcels to Bozo.

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2008 20:46

bozo is a bit ambiguous could it just be a wild coincidence

hope ds2 is ok franny

FrayedKnot · 30/08/2008 20:51

Evening

Franny I hope eveything is OK

I am not ready for Autumn. We have not had summer.

Except for today when it was boiling! I forgot to put sunscreen on my face or wear a hat.

I look like one of my cherry toms.

FrannyandZooey · 30/08/2008 21:15

i think he is fine thankyou
posible growth spurt, i dunno
i think we will be lucky to get a good nights sleep tonighr though

FrannyandZooey · 31/08/2008 09:02

melon, strawbs, grapes, pear, nectarine, kiwi, raisins
not full portions of each

my sister is meant to be coming but ds1 is not well
waiting to hear if she is going to risk coming anyway and her kids getting it
she hasn't seen ds2 yet
he was in hospital and then she was on holiday
my other sister has only seen ds2 for 5 mins - literally. She arrived and then the midwife came and then ds2 got taken to hospital

what a cock up

dp's parents have not mentioned visiting at all! god knows what is going on there

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 31/08/2008 09:02

oh ds2 did sleep last night
not brilliantly for long periods but he did go back to sleep each time
I was hoping for a lie in though but twas not to be

OP posts:
Tatties · 31/08/2008 10:02

You must be exhausted Franny. Do you really want visitors today?! If it's any consolation, my ds was up at midnight, crying uncontrollably. We had to get up and read stories to calm him down! He did go back to sleep eventually. There is some weird stuff going on atm

FrannyandZooey · 31/08/2008 10:12

if we don't see them today it'll be another month or so
sister and her dh are coming, kids staying behind
i'm not too bad tatties as had monster lie in yesterday and ds2 slept most of day as you know so was a quiet day
bet you are tired!

womblingalong · 31/08/2008 10:29

Hello Franny and Tatties, I sympathise on the sleeplessness, getting used to broken sleep is so difficult isn't it? Especially when you have got used to a full night.

Franny I feel bad I haven't had a chance to email you and check how you ae doing, I am so sorry but life is manic at the moment, and I am so weary all the time.

FrannyandZooey · 31/08/2008 10:58

don't be daft wombling!
hope things calm down for you soon
I am absolutely rubbish at answering emails anyway
I think "oh it is because I am so busy" but I still find time to MN and shovel in 3000 calories somehow

FrannyandZooey · 31/08/2008 15:41

pink depending on HOW early you are welcome to visit?

ds1 miraculous recovery, cue rest of day clamouring for things to eat
my sister came and must have thought we made it up about him being ill

she is, like the rest of my family, unable to pronounce ds2's name I even said gently "it is pronounced ....."
she carried on saying it the other way
I don't suppose it matters

Hi ladies, can I join you?

I've blobbed out big time during the summer holidays. Been eating soooooo badly. Too much butter, too much white bread and bugger all fruit and veg. No exercise at all. I've just hit 11 stone and I'm knackered and flabby.

So far today I've had:
An apple (scrumped from my neighbor's garden!)
two clementines
some coleslaw
a small baked potato (does this count?)
a handful of cherry tomatoes

Will empty my bladder in a bit (otherwise will need to dig out tena lady pads... )and go and bounce on the children's trampoline for 10 minutes.

Will eat some dried fruit this afternoon and lots of veg with my dinner.

End of summer diet makeover: let's celebrate the season of mists and mellow fruitnvegfullness?

FrayedKnot · 31/08/2008 16:40

Hello TBB - may I call you that?

Sounds like a good start. I can trampoline only very slowly and sedately. As soon as I start flinging myself about, I regret it.

What about "We had pears, we had plums, we had seasons in the sun"?

Well, perhaps we can stretch the truth a bit.

Glad both DS actually OK Franny

DS is still very red and rashy but full of energy and appetite.

I am doing a very rare thing, watching TV during the day - Odysseus - full of rather fit semi-naked men with long curly shiny hair

filthymindedvixen · 31/08/2008 16:53

I spent the morning in August (broiling hot, campsite, seaside etc) and the afternoon in November (mists and grey and cold rain...)

Have done appallingly on the F&V front - think I may have managed 5 in 2 days...

Oh god, I must tell you about the campsite we were booked onto...Our friends choses it as they allowed fires.
Well suffice it to say, torching the joint could only improve it. It was a bog.

With dozens of trailery tents which obviously people lived in year round. And loads of dog shit. And sheep poo. And a 90-yr-old farmer with boss eyes and loads of in-bred-looking grandchildren.

All of which we could have coped with, except, although we had booked for 3 vans and 3 tents, there was a tiny patch of sodden, shit-covered grass with deep craters in, that we were supposed to fit in.
And we were the advance party, and this was 6.30pm and our friends were in transit from home.
We had to tell them to abort mission. We went and stayed with an old friend of ours who lives in surreal isolation very near to campsite, so we spent an evening in The Dangerous House for Boys.
There was a JCB for them to climb on and real swords to fight with and robots, and white bread, and night vision cameras to wear to watch foxes and vidoes of crop circles forming and alien lights and ufos etc. The boys were in heaven...
Our friend is an eccentric inventor who also chases UFOs and crop circles round the country.
And then the next day we went to a proper campsite and had a lovely evening (with an illegal fire in a barbecue bucket and marshmallows and Moscow Mules.
