For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

"There was a JCB for them to climb on and real swords to fight with and robots, and white bread, and night vision cameras to wear to watch foxes and vidoes of crop circles forming and alien lights and ufos"

oh my
ds1 must NEVER read that post
it all sounds like a marvellous adventure even though the shitty campsite you could have done without
good anecdote though

ds1 now wants a welding kit of his own...

So I do empathise with your post further down about being liberal about these things - up to a point!

pinkspottywellies · 31/08/2008 18:58

Camping sounds wonderful Moony!!!

Franny how do you pronounce DS2's name? Is it 'sh' or 'see'? We will passing at about 7.30am I hope, and don't want to leave any earlier to visit en route!! And again on Monday at about 7am having been away from dd for 5 nights so will be rushing home as fast as our little legs with carry us Thanks though.

FrannyandZooey · 31/08/2008 19:00

LOL well I understand about not wanting to leave earlier

ds2 is loo-shun
at least 50% of people are saying loo-see-un
I just repeat it as many times as I can the right way and hope people will spot the difference
but even when I specifically point it out my family are going with loo-see-un
odd

I have a thing about pronouncing and especially spelling people's names right. My old boss used to spell names wrong all the time like Leah instead of Leigh - to me you might as well not know thier name at all!! I even do it on here - always try and notice if people use capitals - like avi doesn't and TooT has cap at the end and BBB sometimes forgets and is Bbb and I get most upset!!

Maybe they think you're getting it wrong and are trying to prompt you to say it the right way

Overrun · 31/08/2008 19:35

Hey Franny, looked through birth announcments and couldn't find you so came here as I knew I would get the low down here Congratulations on the birth of your ds2, I expect you are bored of telling the story, but how old, how big, did birth go well? I'm all agog...

BBBee · 31/08/2008 19:40

hi overun - will link back to threaqd with birth stuf if I can find it. Why not stay and pull up a pineapple (not a euphimisim).

FZ oh the obvious stuff I wrote went blah blah re-establishing relationships blah blah boundries blah blah ease up on yourself blah blah new family blah blah

It was not enlightening. I did not care for it.

I like pink listing sweets in her FV like we won;t notice!

We had carrot soup and then cheese and biscuits for supper - mainly lured by guad enticing cheese talk the other night the harolt

wha camping thing did fmv go on? and was there talk of a possible camp meet next year?

carrot
onion
tomato4es
cucumber
apple
melon
olives ?!?!?

Hi Aviatrix and BBBee, how are you both? I am planning on getting back to more fruit and vegetable based diet as it happens, and was hoping to find inspiration and motivation via this lovely thread.
Today as been a so so day, have had a banana and a apple and a handful of grapes. Also broad beans and broccili plus roast peppers with dinner, but thats where it stops I am afraid.
Must do better

pinkspottywellies · 31/08/2008 19:47

I've forgotten your ds's name avi and it's been annoying me since your post about registering the other day!! Have you got my email address? Can you just remind me what he's called please .

Peas, apple juice, chocolate buttons, corn on the cob. DD has been given corn on the cob once before but couldn't really manage it and we haven't had it for ages. So, I did them tonight and put the little skewers in and she thought it was hilarious She kept holding it up to her mouth - wide open and ready to chomp and them giggling! She loved it as well when she managed to get her gob round it properly

pinkspottywellies · 31/08/2008 20:02

Hi OR! At least you've hit 5 or so you're nearly there!

FrannyandZooey · 31/08/2008 20:31

overrun hello pink won't like me leaving your capital off but as usual am typing one handed

i am so not bored of talking about the birth
it was fab but then when ds2 was 2 days old he had to go into hosp for a week
by the time we came out no-one was interested in the birth really
i had him at home
9 lb 3
6 hour labour with gas and air which RAN OUT
lol i was proud of myself
he's 6 weeks old
a very nice little boy
called Lucian - LOO-SHUN not Loo-see-un
not that i dislike looseeun at all - it's just not his name

Avi! I've been waiting for you to return...I have positive report of agnus castus. I know it's not advised when bf and not sure where you are at with feeding DS, but it seems to have started working for me.

The first month I noticed little difference, but second month had noticeably less water retention (used to have 10 days of very sore breasts, this month only 2-3 days), and.......

No headache at ALL

AF was also shorter - 2-3 days instead of 6.

Will report back again next month in case this was fluke.

pinkspottywellies · 31/08/2008 20:50

I'll let you off if you're one handed Franny!

Right I need to go and change the spare bed and have a tidy ready for my Mum coming tomorrow. Don't let me back on tonight! Night all.

Overrun · 31/08/2008 20:54

Franny - glad you had a home birth as you wanted, why did he have to go into hospital? Hope he is okay now, argh 6 weeks, when the smiles start coming What a lovely age.

berolina · 31/08/2008 20:59

Oh I only knew about loo-see-un too, Franny. Agree it must be irritating. We have a couple of relatives and friends who insist on shortening ds1's name although we never never never do and I think have actually gently pointed it out. My other bugbear is when Germans attempt to pronounce it in the English way (it is a biblical, OT name and there is a perfectly acceptable way of pronouncing it in German) and it just sounds silly - think 'Endy' instead of 'Andy' (NB that is not his name).

Stunning gorgeous day today, with which we did not do much - I took dses to the duckpond/playground while dh worked - and we rearranged some furniture and stuff on walls and things. I have just taken some flapjacks out of the oven.

Redcurrants (big bowl). Tomato, herb and seed salad with leftover homemade pizza. Peach, plum. Veggie burgers with cucumber and tomato. Um... 8ish.

Tatties · 31/08/2008 21:08

Hi everyone!

Overrun good to see you

FK I am amazed at your agnus castus results. Especially the shortened periods! Did you know that could happen?

Franny I was (and still am) very interested in hearing your blow-by-blow birth story, but didn't want to ask as you seemed to have enough on your plate.

FrayedKnot · 31/08/2008 21:24

Tatties I am a bit at shorter AF. I think that may be coincidence. We'll see...

No Avi, definitely not...

fishie · 31/08/2008 21:30

i too would be interested to hear more about birth. yes of course that lucien is a foreign name with a foreign pron.

oh. someone has just blown up a car outside. byee.

Guadalupe · 31/08/2008 22:02

Tell us more about the birth, Franny. I, for one, am always interested in birth stories. I was very bad at it.

We are back and the house stinks of the sea. Not in a good way. Have just made a samphire risotto and boiled stewkey blues but they were disappointing. Too small. Risotto nice though a pain to prepare as you said, Franny. Samphire is very fiddly.

We had a lovely time. The weather was bizarre. Really hot and sunny but a strange fog came over while we on the beach, it was quite creepy. We were by a pipe so we could find our way back but there was a man calling for 'Glenda' and his daughter as they had disappeared in the mist with their cockle rake. He said, 'I'm not brilliant but they're not the sharpest tools in the box, they'll just be thinking, cockles cockles cockles, never mind the fog' and for reason this was hilarious despite a missing Glenda and mini Glenda on a marsh beach where people drown every year. Then all was well as a 'cooo-eee, we're over here' drifted through the fog and they were back. You really couldn't see a few feet in front of you then it was gone and hot again.

The storm came as we drove home and you couldn't see a thing for pelting rain and lightening. In bewteen these weirdy weathers we had to put on sun cream. Most odd. We might try and go every weekend in September till it gets too cold. I saw a better van there. I LOVE it. I spoke to them and it might be for sale so they have our number. Dh just rolled his eyes. Again.
