For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

I swing about all over the place.

What are these numbers?

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 15:36

cricket I'm afraid MrsC.

No-one else on MN except TF seems remotely interested. Can't say I blame them atm.

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 15:36

ah, I see.

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 15:38

There was a thread about meet-ups and the OP was wondering if it would kill ones MN mojo to meet people in RL and also was wondering what you call each other at said meet - RL name or MN name.

I already refer to myself as OB (only in the convo's in my head, not out loud, that would be weird obviously) and can no longer call DH by his actual name.

Tatties · 31/07/2008 15:50

We made playdough!

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 15:51

was it limpy?

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 15:52

lumpy even

FrayedKnot · 31/07/2008 15:55

Hullo

MrsC you absolutely must go on your own.

Franny sorry to hear you are feeling wobbly today esp re the stitches.

DS is better today and normality resumed.

We are off on hols tomorrow and will be sans PC but back later to say goodbye

Have had a bit of a surprise at work today just re internal things going on which affect me, now I have to go off on hols fretting about it...grrrr.

Not much fruit, some veg.

MamaG · 31/07/2008 15:58

My DH sniffily told me he didn't think it was appropriate for me to let my 9-next-week-year-old DD and 4 yo DS wander intot eh bathroom while I'm having a shower. Itold him he's being ridiculous and he hasn't mentioned it since

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 16:37

No, not nostalgic Fra. But honestly, your posts made me lolol when I read it through. You are v. funny, in a quiet way, and on the thread I never said ROFL or anything, I just sat down and started barking on about something irrelevant.

Hope work things will be okay. Don't spoil your time away with fretting, do it on Sunday night.

Most sorry to hear about people's fanjos. Sorry, in so many ways. Actually, c-sections do avoid that risk, though create their own problems such as this permanent puppy I seem to have on my stomach who lies down next to me each night.

I have worked well this week. [sticker] Am away for a few days next week.

I signed ds's up to do this theatre thing this week, they are doing a play in a week. DS1 has been sceptical and a bit arch about the whole process. DS2 most enthusiastic. Yesterday I went to pick them up, and they were doing a dance sequence. lol. All girls in jazz shoes and pony tails at the front, giving it their all, my sons at the back waving their arms in the air in a rather lacklustre way, ds1 definitely swearing under his breath, and ds2 facing the wrong way. lololol. This whole thing is amusing me enormously. DS1 will not forgive quickly I suspect.

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 16:40

excellent work 100x

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 16:57

I don't think I've ever read an old thread from 10/10, that might be funny to read through. I wonder if we've changed much. I expect there would be quite a lot of drivel for the gems though, no?

My children are in foul moods, they are tired, especially ds1. It is his own fault. I am tired too. Do you see me sulking?

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 17:01

Yes, lots of drivel.

Yesterday morning I said to ds2 'NO, I am the one in the bad mood. Do NOT join in' and he said 'okay then'

like that was a reasonable thing to say, when actually it was mad.

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 17:11

Also Fra - don't underestimate what happened to you. It would make anyone feel wobbly I think. Keep talking about it to people if you can, you do need to work it through your system a bit I think.

berolina · 31/07/2008 17:11

Glad ds is better FK. Don't fret re work (easier said than done I know). Have a fretting session before you go and then pack it in a metaphorical box with the lid firmly shut for the duration of hols.

OB (I do like OsBa, à la MamaG), I have grown quite fond of Bero, and think it suits me. Most MNers I speak to off-board are their MN names in my head, tbh - there are maybe 2 or 3 where this isn't the case.

Applicant was really quite good - not what we'd have chosen if we wanted a full-on nanny, but I think very good for the set-up we'll be having (3 mornings, with dh working at home). She is unlikely IMO to get territorial about things dh will want to do for ds2 while she's there.

  1. Mrs C
Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 17:11

Everything was ok here this morning until the veg man knocked and it seemed to light a fuse, by the time I answered the door, all the children (apart from the visiting) were crying and I was shouting. Something to do with dd not being allowed to join the boys on the xbox and she shouted and ds1 chased and then they all screamed so ds2 joined in and there was a complete cacophony of noise.

I saw the veg man mouth 'shall I come back later?' but I needed the fruit so I said, 'no, please stay' in slightly too desperate a way and I'm sure he grabbed the cheque and ran thinking I was mad. Visiting child sat very quietly throughout but I did confess all to his mother when she collected in case in came out in some exaggerated version later.

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 17:12

Why have you done that again?

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 17:14

you are forcing me to ask about myself in an unattractive self-interested way but what do you mean by

  1. Mrs C

What Does That Mean?

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 17:15

Sorry, I am teasing.

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 17:15

Do you simply mean, then I was MrsC and now I am not?

I am tired.

I am going to eat melon.

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 17:21

No. I mean nothing.

Oh I'm sorry. Am just arsing about like an annoying person writing 6. Mrs C for absolutely no rhyme or reason other than to be annoying. Sorry.

Boco · 31/07/2008 17:38

Actually I'm not that keen on my summary point either - boco and her family are ill, a lot.
Could you not have tried hard to look beyond that? Somehow?

We have been to Southwold, with Gordon Brown, we had a picnic on the beach and the girls paddled, my sister took us, and she made the picnic which was very nice. And we went on the pier for tea and icecream. And then the girls fell asleep in the car and now dd2 is wailing for no reason at all, just because she woke up wrong. I can't fix it so I'm ignoring it.

filthymindedvixen · 31/07/2008 17:43

It reminds me of the Beatles White Album (Number 9. Number 9. Number 9....)

we have dh's best friend and his daughter over for a sleepover. It has monsooned own all afternoon but I have had the loveliest time making peg dolls with her and a fairy bed from junk and scraps of fabric....(sigh)

My boys made drumkits from the junk and other 'instruments' and they are currently drumming along to Deep Purple whil I zone it all out. DH and chum are in the kitchen, gassing.

Salad sarnie, banana, apple, thais beef salad with raw mange toutes, raw carrots, cucumber, mint, lambs lettuce, spring onions, red peppers, lollo rosso, rocket.
Phew!

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 18:17

I would like to apologize to EVERYONE for my entirely wrong conclusions drawn from the thread.

[but you had the rash, you did! and dd2 had croup, and it was awful, and I meant it sympathetically]

I shan't read another 10/10 thread. It doesn't go well.
