For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

I'll come and do energetic things with ds1....

Mind you, I have been cuddling very little babies all morning and I do have A Knack of sending them to sleep - so I'm happy to oblige with Lucky!

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 13:17

[notes down, 'still doing too much']

TigerFeet · 31/07/2008 13:22

oooh 100x link to the thread [nosey interested]

MrsC you are a fab Mummy. I think dd would like a Mummy like you [takes notes]

Glitter you say? Toadstools? Playdough? I'm sure I could manage it

berolina · 31/07/2008 13:24

Franny, weepy is par for the course, especially with what you've been through. Can you have a reall really uiet and lovely couple of days?
At, I think, 6 days with ds2 dh went to an all-afternoon work meeting and I sat with dses and cried and thought, I can't DO this. Then I had agreed to meet dh after his meeting and put ds2 in the cradle position in the TriCotti and kept losing him in the folds (I gave it away after that, and have regretted it many times since) and ds1 in the buggy and walked through the pouring rain precariously holding an umbrella over ds2 and me and worrying about pneumonia. When I got to dh I think I really did say something very similar to 'we're doomed'.

Guad fairyland sounds lovely. We have just come back from botanic garden all morning - blazing sunshine here - which was pretty magical too.
ds1 announced on the way home that 'in the olden days all the diggers had faces and all the houses had faces and all the cars had faces'.

Applicant for babysitter/nanny-type ds2 job coming this afternoon.

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 13:26

well, it was inspired by the fairy fair, and she is pretty neglected most of the time tbh. I hardly do anything with her on my own.

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 13:27

Def go on your own MrsC. I am going to Beautiful Days on my own. I am so excited by this prospect I may not sleep between now and the 16th or whenever it is. Sorry FMV.

100 - I do that socially inappropriate talking thing too. I wasn't around last year thankfully so you should have nothing to say about me.

I ate too much lunch (gorgonzola and chorizo ciabatta from deli place). It might have been shown some lettuce in its short life, but that was it. Feel very full. And guilty.

Ah well had greek salad with no feta last night (virtuous)

filthymindedvixen · 31/07/2008 13:32

MrsC, you should definitely go on your own - you will end up speaking to far more people than if you were in a couple and you will love not having to think about anyone else for a change.
If I can come to Lunnon town and meet a bunch of weird, imaginary fruit-munchers by myself, I'm sure you can go to a freind's wedding by yourself!

(I'm sorry, when I first read it, I registered chickenpox and making salad for a zillion people but not the crux of the matter)

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 13:38

Nasty business TF. Have they bought in Jimmy A yet? Computer so slow today, keeps crashing when I try and refresh the commentary.

Has no prob with MN though. Small mercies n all that!

FrannyandZooey · 31/07/2008 13:40

Hah! yes indeed I don't get told I am funny often enough
odd that

100 were you feeling nostalgic for how the thread used to be? It has been a bit lacking something lately hasn't it, I sometimes wonder where everyone is
or maybe just me feeling wobbly and not appreciating it

various bits of salad for lunch - hummus, vine leaves, peppers, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes

dp taking BOTH boys to house of Gnorman Conquester
bringing ds2 back with him though
at half hour in the house by myself though

FrannyandZooey · 31/07/2008 13:43

I don't see why you shouldn't go on your own MrsC
will you say the others are a bit poorly or something?

FMF sorry you had troubles of the Tom variety also
so many people have when you start talking about it
I have said the same thing - if it was men's genitalia that were being hacked around here, there would be the top plastic surgeons of the country available to deal with it
instead of "oh well it doesn't look TOO bad it will PROBABLY heal up. Eventually"

filthymindedvixen · 31/07/2008 13:46

It was the fact that some 70-year-old male fool telling me ''It doesn't really hurt, you only think it hurts...you need to relax more, have you tried a bottle of wine before congress'' which pushed me over the edge.

FrannyandZooey · 31/07/2008 13:50

my last gp had the most appalling experience and was left totally unable to have a sex life
they told her "wait till you've finished your family and then we will fix it"
this was in the 70s I think

filthymindedvixen · 31/07/2008 13:58

ah don't be sorry, it all got sorted eventually and without TMI, let's say, no er, lasting damamge. I even managed to pop out another child at some point

MamaG · 31/07/2008 13:58

I agree franny that if you feel weepy, then sit have a sob and eat lots of white toast with butter. You've had a HELL of a time recently and I think a quiet day or so at home with NO medical people peering up your fanjo would do you the world of good.

I'm much better now, thanks all, think it was a combo of heat/dehydration/being 27 weeks pg

FrannyandZooey · 31/07/2008 14:23

yes mine was sorted out last time also FMF
I just felt terribly worn down by it all and I told my doula and my midwife about it and they said it definitely shouldn't happen again this time
well this isn't so bad as that but I do feel it is UNFAIR
and there ISN'T any white bread waaaaaah

MamaG drink water please

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 14:23

I'm getting quite concerned by how badly DH and I are getting on atm...

Need to do something about it. I know what would help the situation... but my interest in bedroom shenanigans is at an all time low.

Just rang to try and say something nice to him so we're not all grumpy and bolshy with each other when I eventually get home and got an ear bashing about god knows what.

still, 23 working days left, maybe I'll be less of a misery guts when I get out of here.

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 14:24

sorry about the lack of white bread, I had to make do with a wholemeal pitta for B/fast today. Very unsatisfactory.

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 14:32

TF - 135 / 4! Whooop!

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 14:54

I had that problem after a large episiotomy with ds1. It took a while but it did improve in the end.

Yes, I think I will go on my own. It might look odd when I arrive but I will explain that he is under the weather and teething and and that frankly, I need a bit of time to myself. If the conversation arises of course. Being the bride she may be a pretty occupied!

Oooh, I am quite excited by the prospect. I will be able to start and finish a conversation and drink wine without worrying about ds running off. You know how it is when you are chatting and looking and you look and chat and then they're gone. They are of course, almost always just behind a tree/under a log/round a corner etc, but in that split second you panic and never really relax.

TigerFeet · 31/07/2008 15:11

Imagine, Guad, going for a wee in peace! I have to come to work to do that

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 15:13

under a log? are you fairy folk?

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 15:15

DD has taken to trying to get into the shower with me, which is a shower over bath attachment. Most amusing as she tries to lift her leg over - I don't think she realises she is only 2ft summat tall.

She also tries to pick / scratch my tattoos off. I think being nekkid around her is soon going to be athing of the past, she is already far too familiar with 'boobies'

TigerFeet · 31/07/2008 15:29

I shower with my 4yo - it is by far the easiest way to get her clean

She was fascinated by my boobs and ladygarden for a while but it seems to have passed now. I told her she would get them when she was bigger and that did the trick.
