For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

which we haven't got

it is pissing it down here and thunder and lightning
I did wonder if you were having a larf MrsC

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 11:25

I agree BBbeee, thongs are often worrying.

OsmosisBanana · 31/07/2008 11:25

dammit!

TigerFeet · 31/07/2008 11:34

Oh don't cook in a thong - that would be worrying. You need an apron as well as an absolute minimum.

Aww Franny. Why useless? Agree that white toast and butter is essential newborn breastfeeding fuel. Is dp about? Can he get some for you?

I wish it would bloody well get on and rain here. It did for about 10 mins earlier but it was a very poor effort. The air is so thick you could slice it. It is making me all irritable Franny is the weather getting to you?

FrannyandZooey · 31/07/2008 11:36

yes possibly
I just had wobbler at prospect of going to doctor
I think I am generally fed up of people peering up my jacksy and fed up of fricking doctors and nurses and health visitors and midwives and ruddy PEOPLE
I need a week in a spa
eating white toast

Tatties · 31/07/2008 11:54

Franny I think wobbles and crying and feeling useless is very normal at this stage isn't it? (It was for me) How long is dp off work?

FrannyandZooey · 31/07/2008 12:18

ah he is back on Monday
which is tragic
we should have had two whole lovely weeks at home with ds2 and we had a week in hospital instead and the rest just seems so fragmented

ah well
ds1 is going to play at the house of our Gnorman Conquest friend this afternoon and have tea there
people are really coming through with offers of help with ds1 which is fab - not many people thought of it when I was massively pg and struggling and I felt a bit waaaah about it
people being v kind now though

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 12:52

Sorry, weather revelry wasn't meant to be gloating, it is slightly cloudier since I posted but still blue sky and HOT! Maybe the clouds are coming.

The food thing. Well, my good friend from art school is getting married and she was in a tizz a few weeks ago about food and help and money and I said do you want me to make some salads. People did this at my wedding and it was a great help. I thought there were 50 or so people but when I rang yesterday and spoke to MIL as they were out she said there are 100 people. Spoke to friend last night and she said I really don't have to make them but I will because I said I would.

I'm sure they won't all eat cous couos anyway, they certainly won't all eat quinoi. I will make two mixing bowls full and that will have to do.

Actually maybe you can advise. It is 20 miles away , starts at 3pm and the evening part is no children. Ds2 still teething and grumpy, dh doesn't really know them and the bride's son has very bad chicken pox and I suspect the younger dd will be incubating it although we can never know these things. The children are all eating on one table.

I REALLY don't want ds to get chicken pox as we are away a lot over the next three weeks and I had the idea of going on my own. I know we are all invited and we should go as a family but actually, the thought of an afternoon and evening to myself fills me with great excitement. I could drink and chat to lots of old friends without ds2 clinging and running off and dh not havinig anyone to talk to and there is to be a salsa class before the salsa band and so on and I could dance get merry and so on and it will be a fab break.

Seems odd to turn up on my own though. What do you think?

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 12:53

you must have spa treatment at least, Franny, t is just what you need! I ate white toast for weeks after ds2 was born. I felt like I was re-creating the amazing moment. Eventually my stomach packed up but it was good while it lasted.

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 13:01

[morphine junkie]

I did the weirdest thing the other night. I read an old 10/10 thread, quite randomly from last year.

I drew conclusions.

  1. Franny is v. funny, and is probably not told this enough I thought.
  1. I never, or v. rarely, talk to other people about what they are saying. I just speak like a socially inappropriate person.
  1. Boco and her family are ill, a lot. Not only did she have the rash back then but also she had THREE different people ring her up crying in one day.
  1. Bee is consistently kind.
  1. TooT is v. interested, and always responds to other people's points. She also makes a lot of bread.

That was it, I think. Honestly, we do go ON.

Oh sweetpea, It is ok to feel weepy (especially in the circs). it is always a bit scary when partners have to go back to work and you will be grieving a little bit for the fortnight you thought you were going to get IYSWIM.

Diagrams of fanjo is a bit...ermmm....
From personal experience (which I am not going into on here but you can email me if you want), if you feel things are not right down below, be a pest. With ds1 I had terrible problems after being stitched up too tightly which no-one took seriously. In the end it took 18 months for a satisfactory ending. I remember losing it with a male doctor shouting: ''you are not taking me seriously becauise I am a woman! if I was a man having problems with sex because of a physical problem, you would help! Instead, you have seriously suggested I get drunk in order to 'relax'!''

It is properly properly torrential rain here and so nice after all the stickiness. it smells divine. I am desperate for a really good thunderstorm now.

filthymindedvixen · 31/07/2008 13:04

100 mrsC &what??? or is that just a statement?

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 13:04

See? Socially inappropriate person.

Who is weepy?

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 13:05

FMV - a little too busy all the time.

Tatties · 31/07/2008 13:08

Oh Franny it's not fair he has to go back to work is it. I am glad people are rallying around to help with ds1 though.

MrsC go on your own! I think it makes a lot of sense.

100, how funny, I was just reading an old thread too - but it was the playdough one (I want to make playdough this afternoon with ds and need the recipe) It was a lovely thread

filthymindedvixen · 31/07/2008 13:08

Except for now when I am supposed to be working....

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 13:09

100x!!

Yoou can't just put my name and nothing else, what does that mean??

Tatties · 31/07/2008 13:09

It is raining here (hence idea of making playdough) I am so relieved it is cooler

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 13:10

I made playdough a few days ago. It was a bit lumpy but quite good. We did a smelly lemon one and I forgot that you can't make blue and tried to add green to yellow and then red to make a sludgy brown. Was ok though, we used that one to make toadstools.

filthymindedvixen · 31/07/2008 13:10

100, franny was saying she is a bit weepy today...do try and keep up

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 13:11

Honestly FMV you were breathless most of the time, and rushing here and there and doing your best all the time. It made for quite tiring reading.

Tatties, this one was last year sometime, quite a long time ago. I'd forgotten it.

Guadalupe · 31/07/2008 13:12

the end of the garden has become a fairy land. the top of a stone birdbath is fill with green sparkly water and there unicorns by it and a faory garden planted and playdough toadstool along an old log. I had more fun than dd I think.

filthymindedvixen · 31/07/2008 13:12

oh Guad! [girl envy]

ahundredtimes · 31/07/2008 13:14

YY don't worry about being weepy, be weepy. Why not. Sit down and have a jolly good cry.

And I'll do the dishes and re-arrange things in an annoying manner and make you a mug of hot chocolate.

And

then I'll talk AT you in a socially inappropriate way.

It'll be great.

Tatties · 31/07/2008 13:15

at green sparkly water!
