For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Guad (feels odd calling you that) the school do sounded fun & the friend sounds like the perfect visitor.
UR made lemon curd recently didn't she?

Guadalupe · 19/07/2008 09:40

call me MrsC if you prefer, I don't mind!

Did UR make it? I missed that. It's bloody lovely, I am trying not to make more toast to eat more of it, I think four slices is enough for anyone.

TooTicky · 19/07/2008 09:48

Nothing like a bus crisis to start the day

I should eat some food.

IdrisTheDragon · 19/07/2008 10:07

I am slightly here. Should be doing finishing off of tidying for friends coming in 53 minutes.

Morning Tatties

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 11:00

morning lovelies

strawberries, apple, melon, orange juice

I think yes the midwife was checking to see if i had torn up there
when i was pushing I told the doula, who was right behind me kind of holding me very hard, that I was sorry but I was going to poo on her
they all laughed and said "ha ha ha that is the head coming"
I said "no I really AM"
this in addition to biting her
she rang me last night and asked if she could bring her dd over to visit today! she said she wouldn't normally ask but she feels we are very close now
I suppose shitting on someone and biting them does engender an unusual level of intimacy
she was really fab - when i think of ds1's birth I could spit, I really could

Tatties · 19/07/2008 11:03

TooT

Did you have a good rest Franny?

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 11:08

LOL TooT has sent a vegetable bib! and recipes for midwife's hats

Tatties it was mixed. I thought we were really too knackered to safely have him in the bed with us so I kept putting him in the moses basket
till about 3 am when we had been up every ha;f hour I gave up and we squodged him up the top while we slept down the bottom
he slept from 3 till 8
would have been a great sleep except of course ds1 got up at 6

Guadalupe · 19/07/2008 11:10

it's wonderful that you had a good experience to counter that first time though isn't it? Just shows how different things can be with the right support and environment.

Did you not say you wanted an epidural even once?

My doula came to visit me after and and she was very nice considering she came out for a false alarma and then I didn't call her for the real thing.

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 11:49

god yes! my fear was that things would go pear shaped again and that I would feel crap

there was a point when I said "fgs what else can i have? isn't there something else?" and the midwife was fab and said quite calmly and firmly "well you COULD have pethidine but at this stage I really think you'd be better on just carrying on"
then later if I could have formed any cohesive thought other than "oh aaaaaraagh aaaaargh aaaaargh ooooooh aaaaaarrrrrgh MOOOOOOOOO" I would have had ANYTHING AT ALL, but really it was making no difference and I even stopped the gas and air, because I could push better without it

TooTicky · 19/07/2008 11:50

Franny, you sound wonderful for somebody who has so recently given birth

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 11:51

ahundredtimes · 19/07/2008 11:55

OMG. I so arrived at the right time.

You look wonderful. Your baby looks divine and all plump and gorgeous and not new-born at all. Isn't he divine? DS1 looks all pleased and he has smiley eyes and good hair.

What good photos. God, you look good sitting on that sofa. You look all capable and proper and not puffed-up or mad.

OMG. I heart these photos.

ahundredtimes · 19/07/2008 11:56

PIL are here. I must go. I didn't know they were coming until about half an hour ago.

kisses.

TooTicky · 19/07/2008 11:56

Those cheeks!!!! I love cheeks. He looks very robust too.
Wonderful

Guadalupe · 19/07/2008 12:00

Oh, Franny, he is beautiful, truly. His skin does look rosy and he's so neat and squidgy and you look AMAZING.

Ah. I love babies. I am a bit broody I think. Luckily ds2 is helping me combat this problem with his circus skills. Straight over the top of the travel cot despite it coming up to his neck. Anything he can hang on, he can climb up. He's very strong.

TooTicky · 19/07/2008 12:01

Dd2 has done extreme Aaaaaaaaahing and wants to know when we can visit you
