For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Oh thanks, Avi. Shall we bring a picnic or do you think Franny will have made us lunch. It's been 24 hours now.

TooTicky · 19/07/2008 12:06

Avi, are you bringing the 10/10 helicopter? Reckon I could cope with a helicopter.

Oh fk I am crying again. 3rd time today I think.

TooTicky · 19/07/2008 12:26

Bero
Are you okay?

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 12:28

aaargh @ visitors
house rules:
visitors are only allowed if they bring their own food, stay less than an hour, and then take ds1 out afterwards
I am sticking to them for now, as well

MrsC he looks rosy because I think his face got stuck half in and half out for a while
I hadn't figured out that you can't just relax inbetween contractions because the baby slides completely all the way back in again
I could hear them saying "his nose is just coming out - push his nose out"
and dp laughing saying "that will take some doing" (we all have quite large noses in this house)

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 12:32

oh Bero, what's up?

Yes. No. Not really. I have been feeling dreadful since my going-back-to-work meeting yesterday. They want me to do 3.5 instead of 2.5 days in Sept/Oct and take the time off in Nov/Dec. I have no reason not to agree but I (thought I) was psyched up for 2.5, 3.5 is going to be sooooooo hard and I know I'm being a drama queen but he's so little* and it's dragged all sorts of feelings and stuff up about being sole breadwinner when ds1 was little and I'm tired and dh says it's my choice to do AP and my choice not to replace broken dishwasher (out of savings we need in case for some reason, unlikely but not impossible, they do stop his funding next year) and so obviously it's my choice I'm knackered. And I'm not the mum to the boys I want to be, in fact I'm crap I seem to have got so much wrong.

*We will probably have someone come to the flat 3 mornings while dh works at home, MIL will come 2 afternoons.

God so over-dramatic but I feel like I am drowning in several years of uncried tears because all this time I've just got on with it.

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 12:40

I can completely understand all of that sadness Bero
I am not trying to minimise how you are feeling but just wanted to say that a nanny arrangement can be a really good and positive thing for children IMO
absolutely next best thing to a parent at home (again IMO) and arguably better than a FT SAHM who doesn't want to be there

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 12:40

oh I didn't mean that you don't want to be there btw
I don't know whether you would prefer to be at work or not
but lots of people do, at least some of the time (me for instance)

littlerach · 19/07/2008 12:42

Hope you're okay Bero.

Franny, he is lovely, really nice skin too.

at bottom.

Tomatoes.

Had red thai curry and veg with plum sauce in the end.
was very nice.

FrannyandZooey · 19/07/2008 12:43

he is spending the morning sleeping
has had maybe a few secs feed earlier

Yes Franny but you know I feel it should be me there, you know? (Disclaimer it is just how I feel) God if I liked the job or felt I was doing something useful with it it might be at least a bit different. I feel like I've been holding us together but just failing on all counts - as a mother, as an academic because of haing to leave the field to take these jobs to support dh over here, as a wife because I can't help resenting and feeling that dh has had the best deal all this time. God and everybody loves him and says I'm so lucky. Which I am. I know.

Oh I'd better go. Am in bog of tears and ds2 woken up.
