For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg herehere and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I can't remember what effaced means

TooTicky · 16/07/2008 13:38

Thinned I think. If you are self-effacing, you make less of yourself.

it's like erase, to move, rub out. In a cervix it has to disappear, get flat before it can dilate wheras it's normally a bit tube-like.

Guadalupe · 16/07/2008 13:40

thinned, that's it, much better description!

Tatties · 16/07/2008 13:41

Ah yes thank you!

TooTicky · 16/07/2008 13:56

You know when you just mention something casually and then wish you hadn't?
Dd2 wants to know why the midwife is going to eat her hat.
And who is the midwife?
And who is going to eat whose hat?
Why?
Why does she want to?
Why does she eat hats?

My Midwifery colleagues are all nodding sagely at your overdueness and muttering 'boy' 'always late'

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 14:07

I am not particularly looking forward to DD's gibbersish taking on sentence form. I prefer not knowing what she says I think seeing how vocal she is already without actually speaking any english at all.

womblingalong · 16/07/2008 14:40

Ohh!

I am cheering for you Franny!

I am also sending lots of opening like a flower vibes. This is so exciting, I agree with Avi, more so than with my own 2nd labour!

If you can. go and have a sleep - you will be needing all the rest you can get.

What do you think about the webcam?

I wish I could knit.

Well I can cast on, knit scarf, cast off again.

But I mean really knit.

berolina · 16/07/2008 15:45

ooooh Franny

ds2's waters had meconium in when they were broken went about 10 minutes before his birth. It was a fast labour - I expect it was that. He ended up a little tangled in his cord but he was fine after he came out - hungry and wise and alert.

2cm is really good

TooTicky · 16/07/2008 15:45

OB, it is great when they talk, it really is. It's just the circular conversations that drive me nuts.

That is the extent of my skillz too TF.

We should go and watch the 2nd test together, drink hideous amounts of alcohol and knit scarves whilst comparing the merits of Jo Brand over Bill Bailey as guests on QI. Sounds like a good day to me.

berolina · 16/07/2008 15:47

(the crossing out because I always feel slightly sad that my waters have never gone naturally. I went into transition both times with intact waters. Maybe if I hadn't agreed to having them broken dses would have been born in the caul (difficult to do with ventouse though, I suppoee )

berolina · 16/07/2008 15:47

liking 'skillz', OB
