For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg herehere and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

HURRAH

TigerFeet · 16/07/2008 12:31

what are you going to do for the rest of the day?

Tatties · 16/07/2008 12:32

Oh Franny [excited]

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 12:35

Whoop whoop!

Action stations.

Not that you are going into hosp, but I remember being so rigorous in my bag packing (I'm sure prob everyone is) and packed all the things they recommended after extensive research. [nothing better to do emoticon]

Why do they recommend snacks for labour?? The very thought of it makes me feel a bit queasy now.

You'll be glad to know I packed a mix bag of dried fruits and nuts. DH snaffled the lot.

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 12:36

Go to sleep.

Boco · 16/07/2008 12:38

Ooooooh! Exciting! Does that mean you're effacing? And softening and all those things?
Well done you!

Tatties · 16/07/2008 12:38

Oh yes OB, and the warm socks because apparently your feet get cold in labour. Never needed them. And they would have looked odd when I was wearing nothing else

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 12:40

I know! I was so worried about what to wear that would be suitable - nightie? t-shirt? etc etc and then just ended up roaming around nekkid snarling at Jim and talking in tongues. Recockolous.

TooTicky · 16/07/2008 12:47

Woooohooooo Franny
Think strong, beautiful thoughts.
Have strong, beautiful contractions.
Have a strong, beautiful baby

I didn't speak in tongues. I swore in fluent Anglo Saxon apparently. I was out of it for most of my active labour though thanks to a goddam sleeping pill . I do remember sitting on the bog having a wee, wearing only a teeny tiny vest top, having a particularly painful contraction and a midwife holding my hand. Dignity? Hahahahaha.

Guadalupe · 16/07/2008 12:57

she swept and snooped
I am 50% effaced
2 cm dilated
soft as a ripe mango well maybe not
lovely show when she did the sweep
dp is here
she told him not to go to work tomorrow
ds is here but 2 friends on action stations
everything feels tight but that is all
I am going to go and eat cake in the garden cafe and then have a lie down and then go for the reflexology

I do hope she is not just wildly optimistic person
she virtually guaranteed it

but even if she is getting over excited, I mean things ARE happening, aren't they? SOMETHING is happening

filthymindedvixen · 16/07/2008 13:03
FrannyandZooey · 16/07/2008 13:04

oh and bag is packed
I am going to check it in a minute
and ds's bag
I am not at all convinced I will get to have it here but it would be lovely to try

you know post mature babies have often passed meconium for a start, and they don't like that
they swoosh you into hospital
ah well I just hope it COMES
and I don't get fiddled around with TOO MUCH

oh godddddddddddddd let her be right
I am so wanting to see it and find out if girl or boy, etc

FrannyandZooey · 16/07/2008 13:04

LOL you are all so nice

[crazy with the love]

FrannyandZooey · 16/07/2008 13:05

erm you know I haven't actually had a contraction yet
we are being slightly previous again aren't we

Guadalupe · 16/07/2008 13:11

no no, it is all imminent, that is clear. You are bound to think, ooh that smarted and pop straight to ten cm after all this effacing and stuff.

relexology started things for me, had a big twinge and show in the middle of it.
