For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg herehere and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

yes I've read about the ten month mamas
no WAY have I got that kind of nerve
I have short cycle and ovulate early anyway - I am at least 42 weeks now, probably a few days more
but the spinny thing reigns supreme thank god

FrannyandZooey · 16/07/2008 09:58

Boco someone said acupuncture but it is as expensive as reflexology with the added bonus of it hurting
everyone who has had reflexology says it is nice, even if it didn't work, so that's the one for me

will I be able to walk and get ds afterwards? how floaty are you? the woman said I shouldn't drive myself home

LullyOfShallot · 16/07/2008 10:02

I wasn't floaty
Acupuncture doesn't hurt & worked v quickly for me.

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 10:06

I had acupuncture the day B4 DD was due (just to make sure!) and she did come out within the specified time range they say but maybe she would have done anyway... Who knows. [impatient]

Hands nearly better now, they still look horrific but they have gone all hard and waterproof and I managed to pry some gravel out which was grossly pleasing. Smothered in dressings now though to stop me picking. My inner 8 year old wants to fiddle with them.

Am fed up of child / working family tax muppets. Every month it is different. Still, at least they do pay us, even if they can't decide excatly what. Which is pretty much my work / pay situation too. I sense a disaster looming on the horizon.....

Is TooT here?

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 10:12

Also, with the acupuncture, if it doesn't work a lot of places let you have a repeat go for free. In Briz anyway.

TigerFeet · 16/07/2008 10:15

Acupuncture doesn't hurt

I had it once, couldn't afford to go back sadly, and I had the best night's sleep I have ever had after it.

OB What happened to your hands? I missed whole swathes of the last thread . I do like to pick a scab myself. My scarred knees stand testament to that.

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 10:17

Who owns their own house?

Probably preaching to the converted but if you own your own house and receive child tax or working family tax credit or any other benefit you can get grants to make your house warmer.

We just had the Warm Front people come round and they are going to replace our radiators, boiler and insulate the loft. You get up to £2700 and if the work is more than that you contribute.

All good seeing as that was the next job on our enormous list of Things That Need Doing.

Boco · 16/07/2008 10:18

Acupuncture didn't hurt, it was quite relaxing too actually. She did something with pulses (not the bean sort), and I got home and started having contractions, but they weren't strong enough to finish the job - and I was already 2 weeks late, and I should have gone back the next day but couldn't get there.

Reflexology nice and floaty - you shouldn't drive though, because you don't have a licence.

LullyOfShallot · 16/07/2008 10:21

Oh almost my story Boco
was two weeks late, contractions started 20 mins after session.

How is dd?

LullyOfShallot · 16/07/2008 10:21

Boco

TigerFeet · 16/07/2008 10:21

@ you shouldn't drive though, because you don't have a licence

Tell me more OB I haven't heard of it. When you say own, is that outright or mortgaged? I assume mortgaged is OK but thought I should
check. Our boiler is on its way out....

Off to google warm front

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 10:57

mortgaged ok. They were very helpful and friendly. DD took to the man who came and assessed our house immediately and cried when he left!!

They say it can take up to 6 wks to get an appt but he came within 2 and the 'approved contractor' will be around to look around and tutt in a few weeks. It's not a speedy process but can't sniff at a free £2700 eh?

They also help with a bit of blaggage - ie we are having a wood burner in our front room when we can afford the one that we want thus have removed the radiator. We told the man this, but he was 'but there isn't one now is there? So we shall provide one' - nudge nudge wink wink type o thing helping us get the max out of our allowance. Make any sense?

They do cavity wall insulation and all sorts.

I have the no at home if you can't find it.

TigerFeet · 16/07/2008 11:15

I've had a look at the site and I'm not sure we qualify - there seems to be an earnings cap that we are over.

We will just have to keep stroking the boiler in a friendly manner and making sure it is happy. Nice boiler. Good boiler in lovely working order.

OsmosisBanana · 16/07/2008 11:22

Really? I thought if you get any kind of benefit you can get it. Sorry to overexcite you!

The spinny thing is the wheel of fortune used by the mws to tell you when you are going to have the baby.
